Well Recently I have been having a pretty crap run when it comes to luck, And I'd have to say this weekend has been the topping on the cake. Last Race meet I lost my axle in the first couple of laps of the first race. I was kinda pissed off but I chucked the thing back together and had it prepared for this meet. Well as luck would have it, I got to the car in the morning and it wouldn't start. I eventually found the problem and made it to the track just before they shut the pit gate's. The day ran pretty smoothly up until my first race of the day. I managed to get outside poll (2nd) to start, and had a slower guy next to me. So I was able to get off to a good start. Ever since the start of the race I noticed that I had no traction and was running really wide out of the corner's. On about the 4th lap I had lost a couple of spot's and was trying to hold third, But one of the falcons was right on my tail and coming up on the inside. We came into the corner and he clipped the my back bars, which made me get a bit too sideways into the corner. I washed up way too high and clipped the wall. I expected to bounce off and get a good run for the straight, But I was wrong. The car dug in and (with it being so top heavy) It just started to roll. I counted about 3 rolls, But everybody told me I rolled at least 5 times. Anyway the car landed on it's side and I eventually made my way out. and had a look at what I'd done. She ended up like this.     Luckily Most of the damage was only panel damage but It did bend the cage around a bit and bent the upper wish bone in the front end. Also when I was rolling I ripped off the steering wheel and a bit of the shaft which hurt alot, And I broke off one of the side's of the seat which could have turned out pretty bad. But other than that It stayed in tact. But I doubt I'll make it to the next meet, Unless I race with the damaged panels. So I can honestly say This has topped off my run of bad luck, hopefully nothing worse can go wrong but who knows. At least I can say I know what it's like to roll a car, Many Many time's. xd

Bloody hell, that's not good at all! eek Looks like you'll be needing a more secure seat now, since you're going hard enough to cause that amount of damage in a stack. How's the cage but, fixing that one's gonna be a bit of a pain in the arse...

It definitely sounds like you've been getting the short end of the stick with the racing, mang. But, at least you're okay after that, I would've expected some driver damage.

He could start feeling it in a couple of days. Seriously but, I'd get checked out if I were you, especially since the seat gave way.

Its an experience I can say that I haven't (yet) shared. I think when you get the guy back on the road, you should invest in a new seat, even if its similar to your current one. Just something that you know isn't going to break or whatever.

eek wow man glad you're alright. i rolled my white del Sol 3 times...and it ended up in worse condition than that. hopefully it won't be long till you're back on track with it.
totally agree u needa get checked out man, after i got checked outta the hospital, it took 2 days to start feeling all the damage. bashed my leg on the under dash panels, it was a nice shade of purple. bruised rib from the airbag and seatbelt. and of course the stitches on my arm. yeah, it sucked.
again, glad that you're alright. car can be fixed with some time and money, if something worse had happened to you, its not so easy sad

IMO he should get a good seat, even if the seat ends up costing as much as 1/3 the car's build price. The seat is the main point in the motorsport safety system, and it NEEDS to keep the driver secure. A REALLY good seat can go up to 3 grand for the highly reinforced carbon fiber version, but the FRP one can be as little as 1.1~1.9K while still giving excellent protection. It HAS to be the kind with the head restraints as well.

Yeah a new seat is a MUST. I'm not gonna go all you and get a high quality one like Joey's talking about, But The Racing parts bloke in m town sells decent seats for about $500 so I might get one of them. They seem to be the norm for speedway seat's.
As for me, I have actually come out pretty good. I saw the Ambo's right after the roll they said I'd be fine, But if i had any extreme pain go and see my Doctor. But so far I've been good. I had a bit of trouble with my shoulder because I decided staying on top of the ladder in Bowling was more important than the pain, So I Bowled and that made it pretty sore. But it's all good now. My leg pretty bruised from the steering wheel but even that's going away.
@ head restraint's: Yeah they would have helped a bit, I looked at the Head rest after the roll, And it's mount's were bent from my head hitting it, Honestly the more I look at the car the more I think, Damn I could have been hurt REALLY Bad.
@ Del Sol's Rollover: Was that with your road car?? If so That pretty crazy. It's bad enough doing it in a car with a cage. Let alone one without one. eek

Its gonna cost him a bomb to prepare and cage a new shell at the moment Mille, with a lot of people hurting for work, a big job like that comes in and he might get ripped if he doesn't have close ties to the place doing the job.

I have actually thought of getting a new car, But keep the FJ as well. I know where there is a really nice falcon, It's worked to the max, Really reliable and has racing tires and all the other little extra's that could probably make me more competitive. But that would cost me $3000. And I'd have to convince my father to keep the FJ and Race it in place of me.
As for fixing the car, I can do everything for myself. My dad still has all his gear from when he was in business. So I've got a couple of welder's (oxy and mig), 2 hoist's, A pipe bender and a couple of grinder's. So I Can Fix the entire thing myself. It just takes some time. But it sure does cost less.
Oh and Panda, that's the plan with the bar's. I'm gonna cut them off and start again. The way they have been put together is pretty dodgy And they have been bent to the s**t house, So Hopefully I can remake them A bit stronger, Lighter and safer than before.

$3,000 Australian for a good condition modified car that's reliable?! If only I could find that here in the US. At the current exchange rate, that's just under $2,000 for me... which I'll have sitting in the bank when payday hits. Unfortunately, I'm saving up for a $2,500 camera... and a new daily driver.*
I think it's awesome that you can actually work on your car and fix it yourself. I'm somewhat envious. All I can do is kinda sorta detail, kinda sorta drive, and kinda sorta write... and here you guys are doing Gran Turismo in real life!
*It'll most likely be the US version of the Commodore SS-V, the Pontiac G8 GXP. I find it strange that Holden's site says it the SS-V has 260-270 Kw, but the GXP has 415 HP (309 Kw according to some online conversion). I'm pretty sure we have stricter power robbing emissions control rules over here too... and stupid loser names. Commodore and Lumina sound way hotter than G8GXP... sounds like an Initial Dumb car (ghee ai-to ghee ek-soo pee-goo).
