This may already be somewhere in guild but i didn't see it anywhere. delete this if it is. [[sorry]]
I just thought we should list different things you could do instead of cutting [or burning, ect.] when you get the urge. i believe they're called coping skills. [[it may be something else but i think that's what they were called at deaconess cross pointe]]

some things i remember were:
blasting your music to clear you head.
taking a marker and pressing really hard onto paper or your skin and just pretending your cutting. (sounds retarded but i promise it works)
taking a hot shower until the urge goes away.

other suggestions?

www.recoveryourlife.com has a lot of these sorts of things.

One of my favorites (a couple of my friends use it all the time) is the Butterfly Project. You draw a butterfly - or anything else pretty - on your usual location for injury. Then, if the butterfly survives without you injuring it, it flies away and will be happy. The idea is that you don't want to destroy something pretty, especially if you think of it as having life.
