Have we already talked about this? I fear I'm repeating myself. . .

OMG I forgot all about my Gaiaversary again. Haha. Thanks, Sharnie! Wow, this marks my 5th year on Gaia. surprised

LOL!!! You've forgotten another time?!?

Wow! Congrats on 5 yrs. Wow! That is fun. Did you know when you first created your account that you would still be here? Come to think of it, how did you learn of or find Gaia?

How 'bout all the Old Farts? How long have you been a Gaian? And did you know right from the start that Gaia is such a jewel? And how did you discover Gaia?

I am compelled to go first because I hate to ask info from people that I wouldn't enjoy divulging about myself. I know it can be confusing, but I am Sharnie1. This account is my mule. And it was Muley, here, who played on the Aekea team during the 2007 Water Festival to discover the Old Farts. ( Woot! I'm still glad we haven't had to pump anything yet.)

About finding Gaia: My son has been Gaian since 2006 (when he was 14). I wanted to make sure that Gaia is a safe online hang-out for him. The Christmas Event had just started when I created Sharnie1. And just like that I was hooked.

I told my son my account names right away, so that just in case he ran into me, he would know I wasn't being devious or anything. I never have run into him yet. Sometimes I send him treats and then he will pm me to say, "Shut Up" or something similar. lol But we have fun. He is kind of glad now that I'm also Gaian because now he can just ask me how to blah-blah (whatever) instead of reading the announcements. Plus he is glad to compare notes on zOMG with me.

Ok. So that's our story. Your turn. biggrin

I've actually forgotten my Gaiaversary every single year. Usually a day or two after it passes, I'll go "D'oh! Forgot again." xd

I learned about Gaia while playing Furcadia, actually. I used to be addicted to that place, and I overheard some people chatting about it so I decided to check it out. It's funny to think back on 'old Gaia' and remember how much simpler things were, no minigames, no handheld items, waaaaay fewer clothing options...but it was still like the coolest thing since sliced cheese. I got all excited when I got a racoon tail from a pink gift box. I had no idea I'd be sticking around for 5 years, though!

I usually get bored with games and hangout places fairly quickly; I've abandoned Furc long since, and every other place I've checked out. But for some reason, I have yet to get bored with Gaia. I doubt that will change, either. heart

A friend told us about Gaia back in the spring of 2006. She had made an account in '03, left it, and rediscovered Gaia, and was spreading the word. The main draw was a very good and friendly Doctor Who Guild. Eirwyn joined for that reason, and came to enjoy Gaia as a whole so much that she created Whatsit's account in August, '06. I came along in April, '07 when she decided to make her own guild in memory of tiny Maid Lillian, whom you see in my signatures.

I bet I've regenerated a dozen times since I joined. I quit counting.

She was the daughter of one of our very best friends in the world. She died of SIDS in 2001, just between Easter and Mother's Day, when she was about to turn four months old. evil crying

Thank you. smile

Her mother and father grew brave and tried again eventually, and had a very healthy son—on the mother's birthday! And a couple of years after that they tried for another daughter, and got one...on Valentine's Day. smile She has an interesting sense of timing, does she not?
You can see these two on Eirwyn's profile, though it is an outdated picture. Sam is five and a Godzilla fanatic now, and Elizabeth is three.

I've always heard that Aquariuses play tricks with timing and such. I bet Elizabeth is that kind of girl. Well, I am relieved to hear that they have a bouncing family now!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Happy Thursday!
