Hey gang.
I'm getting rather concerned over how much this Alfa Romeo is actually going to cost me. I'm on the verge of getting the engine to turn over for the first time since last year if not longer, and I've also saved up a bit of dough to put into the car. Long story short its enough money to buy a cheapo motorbike or car. But what worries me is that after I spend this money, probably only a quater of the cars problems will be patched up.
I mean I got this new job and all, and so in theory if I live like a beggar for the rest of the year I could finish off my Alfa.
The money required to get the Alfa in mint condition is enough to buy a used BMW or a motorbike!
So I put this to you.
Should I:
x - Keep the Alfa, and finish it off and drive around like a pimp.
x - Keep the Alfa, get it roadworthy, get the papers and all sorted out and sell it/swop it.
x- or Other.

Well since where I live, Alfas are super duper rare, if I were you I would keep it and just finish the project, because I'm sure you didn't come this far and wait this long just to get rid of it.

Alfa's are pretty rare and pretty cool IMO.
Still a car is all about how important it is for you and how much you want it to control your life. If you look at it and only see worries then you might want to walk away and get something cheapo. If you look at it and just keep thinking it will be awsome when it's done and don't think about all the bad then keep it.

*Other: Sell the Alfa Romero as a rolling chassis that needs work, then use that money with what you've saved up for a newer and better conditioned car... or use it as a down payment for a new car.

KEEP THE GOD DAMN ALFA!!!!!!!!!
It would be damn hard to find another one If you ever wanted one again. Even if you can't have it on the road right now, you can keep it for when you can be bothered finishing it.
Plus Being a classic car lover, You should know that driving a new car or bike is no fun at all.
And I'm sure after having the car for so long it would be just too hard to give away.

If you'd already made up your mind to go through with it, then go through with it. Gonna be hard going, but stick with it. Plenty of builds go sour because the owners didn't want to put in the time and insisted on a "right now" approach. Can't really go that way with a classic, gotta be patient with it.

Completely agree with this. If you rush through it, of course it is going to cost a ton. Take it at a pace where you can afford it.

Ok good news I suppose.

So we'll get the car running and roadworthy, then essentially my Dad looks after the car inbetween me saving for large jobs for the car. An gets preference till I buy it from him.
