So it begins
" Look you can see the dorm building now " Nasira cheered and lengthened her stride just a little. Oh how she'd longed to leave home and come here to have her first real taste of freedom and a chance to see the world that travelers were always describing to her.
" It'll be hard work you know , you can't just give up whenever you get bored or I'm doing better than you" Pasquel warned. He didn't really want to be here, would have been happy staying home and living a nice simple life. He did have an ongoing sibling rivalry with his twin but still, Pasquel was certain he could have learned anything he really needed too from books or the people in the village.
It was only becuase their parents had insisted the twins go or stay together that he was even here, not willing to be selfish enough to hold Nasira back despite his own wishes. Though he was determined to caution her often that her choice wasn't going to lead her down an easy road , of this he was sure.
The Teolli female shrugged and ruffled her feathers a bit and rolled her yellow eyes " I know I know you've only told me a million times but still I have to try and there's no way you can do better than me with your beak stuck in a book all day. You have to live life to learn anything important " At least that was her philosophy anyway. The girl knew her brother didn't really want to be here and she was grateful he;d agreed to come but she couldn't help but razz him. It was who Nasira was and it wasn't likely to ever change.
The pair both sighed and walked silently the rest of the way to where they'd be staying while they were young and in training. Both knew they'd be avoiding each other a lot trying not to look like they were stuck together at the hip becuase they were siblings and perhaps a bit becuase they were competitive and neither would prosper if they were constantly looking over at each other and measuring themselves against that alone as they had growing up.
For now they walked quietly enjoying each others' presence for they did love each other, but also enjoying the last time they would be just siblings on a journey together. Soon they would both be on paths to be something and someone greater and while they would still be family there would be yet another wedge between them. Only time would tell if it would be worth it.
