rolleyes I mean, really? They butcher the cars to make them look like something out of a cartoon! They don't even look cool. I'd rather do this to a car, than that crap. And knowing kids these days, they're going to think it's "dope" or something just because the Japanese are doing it. This may sound like a crack at them, but since when was it cool to emulate a society ten years behind in fashion, and 100 years behind in culture? What's worse is how girls are so into Japanese cultural crap, but they don't realize just how imprisoning it is to be a Japanese woman in the REAL Japanese culture.

Bosozuku has been around for a long time. here in the states it only started getting noticed after that pink Scion xB in Super Street last year.. granted that one looked kinda cool on the interior...i woulda done the front splitter differently though. its just like 'VIP' style. lowered on some HUGE offset wheels, huge fender flares like the old GT cars. the whole exhaust pipe thing is based on the Japanese motorcycle gangs from the 80s . 'Bosozoku' literally means 'violent running gang' its all personal preference, though. you either love it or really hate it. and for the record, 10 years behind in fashion? where you been? you ever heard of Tokidoki bags? or how about Evisu jeans? Bathing Ape clothing and shoes? you know, the stuff that Kanye West, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, and alot of other US mainstream rappers wear? but like i said, i dont want to spark a debate.

Yer. Someone should show the anime girl wannabes what the pay and career advancement differences are like between the sexes in Japan, and we'll see what they think then. Its no bloody joke when yer mum's stuck as a clerk for the last 20 years and you get shot to junior exec. after only 5-7 with slightly better qualifications.
As for Bosozuku, it applies to a particular subculture: GANGS. VIP was started after modelling affordable cars on the expensive European cars used by high-profile crime figures, while Bosozuku was modelled on "street gang" culture from the 70's IIRC. Think of it like what happened to the Fords after "Rebel without a cause" was released in the US, only, Bosozuku was modelled on actual street gangs and not a movie.

OK, no debate, but assuming you grew up there from how you mention the (lack of) advancement for women in the workplace, you know what I'm talking about when I say that they're treated as "second-class humans."
To tell you the truth, if I were rich enough, I'd move to Japan. I would be valued there a lot more than I am here in California. Here, pretty girls get everything they want easily... while average looking guys like me have to bust our asses to get anything at all (or break the law)! If I won the lottery and moved to Japan, I'd be a hot commodity. I'm American, I speak English well, and I'd have money. And my wife would be in for a treat compared to most Japanese wives, considering how lazy most Asian men are in bed (you not included, since I remember you placing being a lover 2nd only to being a father in a past discussion) in their respective cultures. My most recent ex is Russian, and made the "biggest mistake of her life" (her words) when she married her Korean husband and lived in Korea. It was like a prison for her. And yes... I was the "other man" until I left her. Not something I'm too proud of, but it did support the "traditional Asian men are lazy in bed" observation.
It makes me kinda glad I'm Filipino, since we don't suffer the cultural stigmas associated with traditional Asian cultures. But all that Spaniard blood in us ends up making us known for being too horny and cheating on our wives a lot. And our women... they're loud, obnoxious, and materialistic as ********! sad To be honest, I am very anti-Filipino... and try to distance myself from it. Trying to fit in with my "ethnic nationality" got me into too much trouble when I was younger.

I've always thought that Bosozuku style was quite fun. Its just a different way of looking at car modification and what it should be.
@ Millefune. Dude... a hundred years behind in culture?! Thats quite a thing to say.
What do you mean though? Surely perhaps you're refering to something other than the rich history of dance, theater and music to come out of Japan.

To be honest I've never lived or worked there, nor visited. However what I do have are some close friends who have migrated from Japan, or whose parents migrated in order for their children to be raised in an environment where there would be more opportunity for them; speaking with the parents(yer m8's sometimes come back late and they're the only ones around to talk to LOL) that's where the career advancement thing came from(the father, whose mum passed on quite a while ago) He moved his family to here when I was young(they are older than me, the kids and married WITH kids)
The story is the same with the younger people who migrate, and scarily its the same as most Chinese women.
But yer. Bosozuku. If I land the job I just interviewed for(the previous one, they annulled the position the week before I was supposed to start due to the global crisis) I wouldn't mind getting some old pipes and sheet metal to muck about with just for laughs, since people take the street thing far too seriously these days, and they're forgetting that its supposed to be fun. It'd be refreshing to do something out-there and completely ridiculous rofl rofl rofl

It'd be refreshing to do something out-there and completely ridiculous rofl rofl rofl thats EXACTLY why i love it! its outlandish, its stupid, but its totally refreshing and new here in the states...at least for now. as much as I want to do a boso car, i dont want to because some kid out there is going to see the car and try to do something like it and fail miserably. @ Millefune: I've lived in Japan. yeah, it is really tough because the gender roles are still set in stone, but due to western influence women are starting to hold corporate level jobs more. the country has come a long way since my grandmother was raised on Shikoku island. side note, i never saw Death Race, but in that picture you linked, I could TOTALLY see that mustang in like..Sonic Blue Metallic (03 Cobra color) and cleaned up. looks kinda like boso style already! lol.

Yeah, when you have assloads of guns, armor, and flame throwers on your ride, that's what you call real gangster! "Death Race" was a fun movie and did the original justice. I liked it a lot better than "Tokyo Dumb" and both "Initial Dumb" movies. I just bought "Days of Thunder," "Death Race," and "Gone in 60 Seconds" on Blue-Ray now that I have a 1080p HDTV. Yes, it took me this long to get an HDTV. I told you all that I'm poor. God, after watching "Gi60S" again, I was reminded of how awesome the main chase scene was. And watching it on Blue-Ray... the sound of that ******** Mustang was sex. DoT tomorrow, and then DR.

I could never get into those for the most part, some of them look cool, but not the 6 foot exhaust...I also think it's funny that they try to make their cars look crappy and USDM - intentionally rusting panels or painting them random colors like you replaced it but didn't paint it. I guess it's harder for them to make a car look bad? lol
I like Initial D, personally, especially now that I've watched it all, but I can't see myself being retarded about it, but it was a fun show. The new Death Race was good too, I liked it. The Fast and the Furious movies are incredibly stupid, but I like seeing the cars and the chicks. sweatdrop
