Like, I've said, I'm not experienced with guitar, but I do play trumpet in a jazz band at my school so soloing is a big part of what we do. When you're planning a solo, you can do one of two things as far as the scales go. You can either look at the key signature for the whole song and in your solo play the notes in that key signature, or, if you have the tabs, you can follow the changes in the music or a specific section of the music that you'll repeat for your solo and play the notes that are in the chords represented by the tabs.

I can't tell you anything about adding in sweeping; anything I've said comes from soloing in general; I've never done so on guitar.

well all the solo's I play are either finger tapping or blues. Remember it docent matter how fast it is as long as it comes from the heart.

Just do what you feel comfortable with. The first solo I wrote was a bunch of single notes and bends, and turned out great. I agree with drawing-back:it honestly doesn't matter, as long as it comes from the heart.
