Dangit! I hate unexpected costs.
Yesterday I decided I would fix some popping/binding from my drivers side front strut/spring. Well, I took everything apart and low and behold....the bearing was upside down in the strut.
Fixed that.
Now, somehow my friggin' Axle boot is torn slinging grease everywhere.....
i've gotta go back outside to check on it..... sad

In all my stress of checking on everything, I cleaned everything off the boot, couldn't find where the rip is, took it out for a drive, and while backing out of my driveway I managed to scrape my front fender....denting it in a good bit.
So now the WRX is off to see the body shop....and I'm going to order a new boot.....
shitty weekend. Worrying about a replacement car right now.

Since I'm not a mechanic, I don't know the extent of what all this means. Does that last line mean that the car is pretty much dead?

Millefune Since I'm not a mechanic, I don't know the extent of what all this means. Does that last line mean that the car is pretty much dead? Nah, it runs fine, just dont want my axle slinging grease everywhere. If I were to keep driving it, sand would get in the boot and cause more to be replaced instead of just the boot. Plus, the more I drive it the more grease gets all over my fender and wheel. But, I just got a replacement car. Looks like I'll be driving my parents old Civic. Better than nothing. The WRX will be getting a quote to have the fender repaired at the body shop this Tuesday, and hopefuly I'll get the axle boot in by Friday.

I feel ya man, and I know my car is a million times cheaper to repair than yours in most cases.
I used a ziptie to reattach my front bumper today...

You've got it easy Raiku,
Yesterday It was my first race after about a month's break. On the second lap of the first race I come out of the first corner and my axle (and wheel) ripped off the bearing and flew out of the car. I did half a lap riding on the diff housing WHILE STILL HOLDING FIRST!!! But that pretty much finished my days racing.
But a fluid leak on a while car can be hell.

Joey Crash Bloody hell so you held first on three wheels? eek Yep I came into the corner side by side with one of the falcons, he spun out and I got about half way down the straight until the pulled a red flag (My mate with the Torana Rolled a couple of time's) So I pulled up and couldn 't take of again.

Aw s**t, it would of been mad as if you'd taken it on three wheels! Might of been THE win you'd be remembered for in Speedway for all time!

It is not necessarily the amount of damage, but the fact that my car is not in a drivable condition and I need it to get to work. . In fact, Monday was the first day at my new job at Navy Federal. Loving it so far.. And that is insanely awesome btw Davo. xd

If you had managed to do it I would've dubbed thee, Three Wheel Dave. Um I also heard there where lots and lots of big fires in Victoria. That where you guys are? Hope everything there is cool with you guys.

@ Joey: If they didn't pull the red flag I would have tried to finish, I was that keen to get my first win and doing it on three wheels would have been mint. mrgreen
@ Raiku: Yeah It can be a b***h when it's the only car you've got. But is it really that bad that you can't drive the car?
@ Panda: Damn it, I want that nickname now. xd But Nah I don't think either of us are near the Main fire's, We Had a small one not far out of our town. But the CFA Blokes got right on it and stopped it before it got to us.
