The rat was just scurrying happily away as it snuffled around looking for goodies to eat. However, its good day was about to be ruined. Something big and heavy stepped on it. Yes, stepped on the poor, poor rat. The rat squirmed from where it was pinned and bit down on the claw nearest its mouth.

Yuki was searching strictly upwards now, not watching where he was going. So it was with great surprise when he heard a muffled squeak as he stepped on something squishy, and felt teeth and claws scrabble uselessly against his talon. He looked down and saw a rat pinned undertalon. He let out a yell as he jumped up and off the poor mouse and promptly fled to a good distance away. Ei-Yah! He needed to keep a better watch on where he was going next time! He got his sling out and hurried to find a good rock before the rat could react. He got it into his sling and started it whirling, flinging the rock towards the rat once he got enough speed built up to let it fly.

It was free! It was free! The rat promptly moved from that spot, both hearing and feeling a fast-moving rock hit the spot it just left as it hurled itself towards this careless jerk!

Ack! It was after him! Yuki skittered backwards some more as he selected and picked up another rock. He settled it into his sling and started it whirling as he kept an eye out for the approaching rat. He aimed slightly ahead to where he thought it would be next and launched the rock towards that spot.

The rat leapt sideways as the big jerk picked up a rock and started whirling it in something. That was a good move as the rock slammed into the spot where it would have gone next. Instead, it bounced off the ground with its claws as it turned again and continued chasing after the big meanie.

Yuki skittered farther away before he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Clearly panicking was doing him no good. He let the breath out slowly as he scanned the ground for a nice, heavy rock. He picked the best one up and settled it into his sling as he watched the rat approach. Surely he could hit it. He started the sling whirling as he memorized the rat's movements. When he thought he knew where the rat would be once the rock reached it, he launched the rock towards it, hoping this one would hit.

Not only did the rock hit, it hit with enough force to break every bone in the rat's body as it slammed the rat backwards, leaving it tumbling end over end before coming to a broken and bloody stop. Yuki stared wide-eyed for a moment before cuddling his sling and walking forward to where the rat lay. That. Was. Awesome! He searched the dead rat before looking around the place. Perhaps there was a not-so-secret lair around that he would find treasures in?
