Yuki was traipsing through the woods, looking around this strange new place. He was checking out to see if a rumor was true. Although, looking around, he wasn't certain anything could manage to keep its feathers white if they had white feathers. Just look at all that mess! There were piles of dead leaves, dug up dirt, and some kind of brownish-green stuff he didn't look to closely at. There had to be some kind of monster here, he just had to spot it!

The bat was hanging upside down on a tree branch, trying to sleep. It had lost its way back to the cave and so it had to sleep out here... in the sun. Ugh. A sharp snap drew it to wakefulness, but after searching around with its sonic radar, it saw nothing worth hunting in the daylight for. With that, it tucked its head back under a wing and fell back asleep.

Yuki winced as he stepped on a twig, breaking it in two with a loud snap. The forest went silent for a moment. He hadn't noticed the noise before until it went away. Well, now everything knew he was here. So where were the monsters? He scanned the ground first before lifting his gaze to sweep across the tree branches as he walked. There! In that tree! Was that a monster perched there? The wind blew and the leaf fluttered in the wind. Nope, just a leaf. Hey! What about that? He eyed the black mass hanging from a limb. That couldn't be a leaf, right? So it must be a monster! He got his sling out and went searching for a rock. There was a good one. He picked it up and settled it into his sling as he watched the black mass just hang there. Well, he couldn't say he didn't give it warning what with the stepping on a twig and all. He set his sling whirling and honed in on the black mass. Once he was sure he was lined up on it, he let the rock fly.

The rock plowed right into the black mass, disconnecting it from the tree. The bat came awake with a start, flapping its wings briefly before it hit the ground and snapped its own neck. Yuki put his sling away as he came over to observe the twitching mass before picking it up and holding it out. Nope, no white feathers here. No feathers at all actually. So why did it have wings? Yuki regarded the now still form with some curiosity. Maybe he'd have to see if he could find another one that he could watch, see if it could actually fly or not. But this one... well, could he get anything useful off of it? He searched it and the entire area before leaving to see if he could find feathers.
