Hi, I'm a very picky customer due to my extremelack-of-wordiness tolerance. So, I was wondering if anyone could help me find a good book to read.
*I mainly like fantasy, steampunk and sci-fi.
*I don't like extra-long, flowery text describing how a tree's leaves fall.
*I'm evidentally very genre-savvy and don't like predictable plots.
*I enjoyed Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Treasure Island and every book Roald Dahl ever wrote.
*I've read a few Terry Pratchett books but I'm looking for something serious to sink my teeth into.
*....I like history and folklore.
Any takers?

It's heavily influenced by English medieval history, literature and politics, but with a suitably deep and gritty fantasy element. Each volume of the five books and counting series weighs in at 700+ pages, so it's a serious commitment, but totally avoids overdescriptiveness and page-padding. I'd also highly recommend China Miéville's Perdido Street Station and the novels that follow on from it, the best dark fantasy steampunk that i've read yet. Definitely thought provoking as well.

Thanks for the tips.
I know of the Song of Ice and Fire books and I'm not ready to tackle all of them yet. Besides, I never keen on starting reading or watching a series that's not finished yet. I tend to get addicted and obsessive.

They're old books, but I recommend the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane. You can probably find them at a library or a bookstore that stocks older books. If nothing else, look online. Or, if you're openminded, try fanfiction. This one in particular. =) http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4101650/1/

I'd recommend the Artemis Fowl series.It's a comedy fantasy that get's straight to the point when you want it to,and describes things when you need it to.The first book is also quite evil,and the first book is also set in Ireland.....Kidnapping,bullets....More bullets....Evil child genius....Very very good,and my favourite series of all time(tying with Twilight of course.)
I'd also recommend 'The secrets of the immortal Nicholas Flamel' series.It's a fantasy,with a good bit of history...All the characters are real life people(dead now...Maybe not Nicholas and Perenelle though)except for Sophie and Josh Newman.It's brilliant,and my second favourite series of all time.

Currently I'm reading Maurice LeBlanc's Arséne Lupin novels.
Let me tell you they are far from predictable. =)
Very intense and entertaining read without a lot of wordy fluff.
It's about a French gentleman thief who happens to be a genius at what he does.
What Sherlock Holmes was to detective work, Arséne Lupin was to thievery.
It's brilliantly written, and yet very easy to read.
You will most likely find these books on Amazon, as that is where I found all of mine. =3
