I wrote this poem after being inspired by a book called the Secret Life of Bees.
Silence stopped by a lullaby hum
Hundreds of wings flap in unison
Those beautiful creatures of majesty
Striped in black and gold
Seeping in through the crack in my walls
They taunt me
Swaying in circles above my head
Oh how I envy them
And yet somehow, they find me worthy to bestow upon me
Their presence
Their presence that lifts my soul into the air among them
My winged friends with horrid stingers
Delicate enough to hum me to sleep
This is where I belong
The sensation creeps up my toes
And moves down my finger tips
The murmuring fills the pores of my skin
My eyes travel through the insect created mist
Searching for their lesson
For they teach in unspoken words
How to be free
How to fly without destination
