I show every single sign of Bipolar; having said that, I do not believe in self diagnosis. However, I have been diagnosed with the same bullshit and they aren't touching on my real issues. They recognize I have signs but refuse to dig deeper; It's always "You show signs, but I don't see the manic issue enough to judge" Sorry, it's called low spectrum bipolar, and since I'm dyslemic, hm geeee... Do you think I'd get that way?
Anyway, any tips I can shove this in their face and make them take me seriously?

One, tell your mother to scram. Two, ask for a second opinion. Three, go into detail whether the shrink likes it or not. Finally, if you just don't like your shrink one way or another, ask for another shrink.

Just tell him/her straight up. My old therapist thought cutting wasn't an addiction, and I went 'um, excuse me? it most certainly is.' and then just talk. if they interrupt you, say 'this is my session, I have the right to talk'

Ugh, I've mentioned it to her so many times; she just says "You defiantly have depression and anxiety issues; bipolar isn't something you need to worry about" The ONLY reason she says that is I don't get the hyper part of the manic spectrum a lot, instead I get the anger and irritability of the manic, and they think it's do to stress/depression. And I'm starting to think because I'm being treated for ADHD, I wouldn't get those manic episodes a lot. But there are times I get so hyped up and piss people off,and it's hard. I think I'm going to say, either you think of different options or I'm not seeing you anymore.

You should definitely tell your therapist straight up that you think they're wrong. It's your treatment, you have the right to stand up for yourself. If you're not getting what you need from this therapist, maybe it's time to find a new one. Sometimes certain therapists arent a good fit for certain people.
Best of luck =)

Well... In all honesty, they are the one with the degree, so they probably know more about what they are talking about. Maybe she really doesn't see bipolar tenancies in you. If oyu really dont like it, then either go to a new psychologist, or deal with it.

When there's money involved people don't give a s**t. She doesn't listen to me anyway rolleyes Shes too soft spoken and polite and it make's me sick.

You could describe the same set of symptoms to five psychiatrists with the same level of education and they'd probably make five different guesses. What really matters is that the pills help. If the pills don't help you, the psychiatrist isn't helping. If the pills are okay, the psychiatrist is okay.

Yeah, I guess finding a new one is the best option if you aren't happy with your psychologist. Although, I disagree with it being "Hardly a science"... I do however think the human brain is a very complex thing, so I think that someone can come up with one diagnosis, and another will come up with a different one. But it is a science. Drugs are involved, which is science. Studying is involved, again, science. That's just my opinion on that though. [-Suicide-Picnic-] Yes because they're degrees have helped me tons before, with the same guesses! When there's money involved people don't give a s**t. She doesn't listen to me anyway rolleyes Shes too soft spoken and polite and it make's me sick. I disagree. Psychologists are there because they do care. It's not like listening to crazy people all day would be a fun job, seeing people you cannot help would not be too fun either. Fact is they want to help. They paid thousands of dollars, just to be able to help people. If she's so soft spoken and polite, then I fail to see how she wont listen to you. I'm sure she's listening but thinks she has the correct diagnosis's. Like I said before, if you really dislike her, then go to a new one. I mean that really is your only options - Deal with what she says, or get a new one.

-Sniffle-Doodle- . Although, I disagree with it being "Hardly a science"... Drugs are involved, which is science. Studying is involved, again, science. That's just my opinion on that though. She's talking about shrinks, which sounds more like psychiatry than psychology if I'm listening right. Now, the thing is that if I were to go to a doctor, get a blood test and hear: "Well, you might be hypoglycemic, but I don't like to put labels on people. Let's just see how you do with such and such diet, and if you're still collapsing in public, call me in the morning", I'd be frustrated as all hell. Science is axiomatic and is therefore reliable. Psychiatry, though necessary, doesn't seem to have any clear axioms and is therefore unpredictable. Psychiatry is a relatively new field and continues to grow, evolve and change. It's still in its infancy, much to the misfortune of those of us who really need it. The best we can do is to work hard to find the right psychiatrist who gives us positive results.
