Elvaan
Proud and haughty. the elvaan are close cousins to the Al bhed ,the Humes, and the Guado. Many Elvaan actually hold to the tenet that they are the first race and that all others are descended from ancient Elvaan. Since the fall of the Empire of dreams the Elvaan have carved a vast series of cities from the deadly wastes by harnessing Materia and Life energy to power ancient machines that cause the deserts to become verdant paradises.
A typical Elvaan is a tall regal humanoid with long pointed ears and tan skin. Their hair is typically a sandy blond to white though dark haired Elvaan do exist. An Elvaan lives for an incredible length of time normally well into their hundreds and as such they take a very cautious view of life taking their time to perform many tasks and putting up a strong front that makes them seem cold and distant.
An Elvaan looks at the world through a slanted mindset. To them they are the inheritors of the ancient empire of dreams and should be treated as such by other races. They also have a distinct code of honor that forces a rigid society of haves and have-nots upon them. Those with the least honor are typically considered no better than the other 'lesser' races.

Bangaa
One of the only non humanoid races the Bangaa are a race that predates the Empire of dreams. Robust lizard like creatures they roam the deserts as traders and merchants selling their wares to whomever may buy.
A bangaa is a tall creature with scaly skin a long tail and a robust build, they well suited to the deserts of the world and roam them more freely than most races. Their is little difference between males and females which has been known to cause friction when amongst the 'softer' races. they are also physically stronger and have been know to travel even during the heat of the day.
Bangaa get along well with other Bangaa, humes, and Al bhed. They feel a close kinship with these down to earth races and view the Elvaan and Guado with disdain. Calling them arrogant softskins when given the chance.

Guado
Like the Elvaan the Guado are close cousins to Humes, Al bhed and Elvaan. However, they are also distinct in the fact that they are the most distinct physically. Tall and regal they have since the fall of of the Empire of dreams built large kingdoms amongst it's ruins.
Built like a Elvaan with their regal figures the Guado have longer arms and fingers. Their features are fairer and they have a wild main of thick hair that ranges in colors from brown to blue.
Guado see themselves as the protectors of the past and have a strong tie to the magic that once fueled the empire of dreams. As such they view the abuse of Materia by the Elvaan and the use of magic as a weapon as an affront against themselves as well as the past.

Al Bhed
Close cousins to Humes, Al bhed are naturally gifted the ability to understand the ancient Machines of the Empire of Dreams. It was the Al bhed who first helped to rebuild the powerful magiteck armors and airships now used by the Elvaan and who first recreated the powerful materia furnaces. The Al bhed have played a crucial role in this new age without question.
An Al bhed looks much like any other human with the only notable differences being that they have a striking spiral pattern for an iris and sandy blond hair as a normal hair color as opposed to the Humes brown and black.
Al bhed have taken a neutral stance amongst the realms of politics siding with whichever side holds the largest amount of Materia or happens to be least likely to kill them.

Cookies vary in shape color and consistency, all they have in common is they are tasty and everyone is trying to eat them so they are kinda paranoid of other races.

Hume
Humes seem to be a middle ground. They hold the potential of a thousand different skills and with their short lives will focus heavily upon singular skills to perfect.
Humes are rugged compared to their Guado and Elvaan cousins and though shorter than both and lacking the long lifespan are treated with a cautious respect by both. With cream, or dark skin tones they are also set apart in looks.
Humes are found in every major city. They tend to favor either the companionship of Bangaas, Al bhed, or other Humes viewing the Guado andd Elvaan as arrogant and haughty.
