Di'nahn Vlin:The planet where di'ns come from, it was destroyed a long time ago, forcing the survivors to live years of outer-space exodus.
When the planet exploded, the shards of it's crystal core scattered through the galaxies, but for some reason most of them landed on planet Earth. Most di'ns arrived to that planet searching for answer and, hopefully, a new home.
Di'nahn Vlin means literally "Home of Di'n". Most of time di'ns reffer to it as simply Di'nahn.
Di'ns (Guardians):You are a Di'n: a Guardian, and loyal companion and friend to your assigned hero.
Di'ns are alien life forms from planet Di'nahn Vlin. They are about a foot tall (30'5 cm) and are able to command different powers deppending on the tribe they belong to.
Common abilities to all of them are levitation and self-concealing. Thanks to the latter, they are absolutely invisible to most humans, except those who have been struck by a Di'nahn shard. In fact, the surprise a human gets seeing them is a nice giveaway to locate new heroes.
Di'ns are able to use their tribal powers thanks to the energy of Di'nahn shards scattered arround the Earth, but when they are alone the energy is irregular and so becomes their power. When partnered with a hero, their power gets more focused and stronger.
The heart of a di'n is made of the very same crystal material the Di'nahn shards are. When a di'n dies, it's physical shell disolves, and only the crystal core remains.
Tribes:Each Di'n belongs to a tribe from birth. Their tribe affinity is something they are born with and impossible to change. Usually a kid shares tribe with one of their parrents (if not both). Different tribe marriages are not rare, specially now that the race is low in numbers.
from left to right, the symbols of Earth, Sun, Sea, Sky and Void tribes --Earth Tribe:Those of the Earth Tribe are called Earthians. Hard-workers and stubborn, they excel in earth and plant magic, so protecting and supporting allies is their main role, but never understimate their attack power either!
Earthians were the main food producers in Di'nahn, as well as the forest protectors, keeping tight the equilibrium of the ecosystem.
--Sun Tribe:Sunians get their power directly from the sun and fire warmth. Mischievous and fierce by nature, they can as easily toast their foes as buff their allies.
Sunians were the clean energy suppliers for the whole planet, allowing technology to develop as much as needed.
--Sea Tribe:Sea-folk are practical and kind people, commanding water and ice in order to debilitate their enemies and heal their allies.
Water was important for life in Di'nahn, and Sea-folk made sure it reached every place, nurturing plants and animals alike.
--Sky Tribe:Skyans characterize by their moody but incredibly intelligent demeanor, controlling lightning and wind both for offensive and defense.
Able to control weather, they kept Di'nahn environment safe from natural disasters and helped the Sunians harvesting thunder energy.
--Void Tribe:Voidians are great theoretical thinkers, shy but crafty and clever. They control space and time, understanding their many nuances and using it to support their allies.
They were in charge of technology advancement, creating useful machines to help the rest of Di'ns.
Traditions:--Power Peak: About once every two years, the powers of all di'ns get a sudden boost during 5 days (the third one of them being at their highest). The time between peaks is never the same, but it always happens to all di'ns at once and they are able to tell when it's comming with about a month's advance.
Back on Di'nahn those five days would be declared a festivity. Most earthians call the festivity the "Big Boing Days", but the rest of di'ns actually preffer to call it the Five Free Days.
--Last Goodbye: Last Goodbye is the di'ns equivalent to the human funerals. Friends of a deceased di'n get together to give him or her their last farewell, and see that their crystal core is either buried on sacred ground or thrown to the depths of a big and also sacred body of water (either a big lake or in certain points of the sea).
Either way, the crystal core will eventually reach the planet's own crystal core and join with it until it's next reincarnation as a new di'n.
