As plot events happen and new things about guardians, heroes and enemies are discovered, we need a place to keep track of all the information together and easily accessible to everyone. This is the Cannon Encyclopedia's task.

Everything written here is fact. If you need to check about guardian's information, or if you are unsure about what happened during a certain event, or how your hero's power affects him/her, this is the place to go.

Di'nahn Vlin:
The planet where di'ns come from, it was destroyed a long time ago, forcing the survivors to live years of outer-space exodus.

When the planet exploded, the shards of it's crystal core scattered through the galaxies, but for some reason most of them landed on planet Earth. Most di'ns arrived to that planet searching for answer and, hopefully, a new home.

Di'nahn Vlin means literally "Home of Di'n". Most of time di'ns reffer to it as simply Di'nahn.

Di'ns (Guardians):

You are a Di'n: a Guardian, and loyal companion and friend to your assigned hero.

Di'ns are alien life forms from planet Di'nahn Vlin. They are about a foot tall (30'5 cm) and are able to command different powers deppending on the tribe they belong to.

Common abilities to all of them are levitation and self-concealing. Thanks to the latter, they are absolutely invisible to most humans, except those who have been struck by a Di'nahn shard. In fact, the surprise a human gets seeing them is a nice giveaway to locate new heroes.

Di'ns are able to use their tribal powers thanks to the energy of Di'nahn shards scattered arround the Earth, but when they are alone the energy is irregular and so becomes their power. When partnered with a hero, their power gets more focused and stronger.

The heart of a di'n is made of the very same crystal material the Di'nahn shards are. When a di'n dies, it's physical shell disolves, and only the crystal core remains.

Tribes:
Each Di'n belongs to a tribe from birth. Their tribe affinity is something they are born with and impossible to change. Usually a kid shares tribe with one of their parrents (if not both). Different tribe marriages are not rare, specially now that the race is low in numbers.

from left to right, the symbols of Earth, Sun, Sea, Sky and Void tribes

--Earth Tribe:
Those of the Earth Tribe are called Earthians. Hard-workers and stubborn, they excel in earth and plant magic, so protecting and supporting allies is their main role, but never understimate their attack power either!

Earthians were the main food producers in Di'nahn, as well as the forest protectors, keeping tight the equilibrium of the ecosystem.

--Sun Tribe:
Sunians get their power directly from the sun and fire warmth. Mischievous and fierce by nature, they can as easily toast their foes as buff their allies.

Sunians were the clean energy suppliers for the whole planet, allowing technology to develop as much as needed.

--Sea Tribe:
Sea-folk are practical and kind people, commanding water and ice in order to debilitate their enemies and heal their allies.

Water was important for life in Di'nahn, and Sea-folk made sure it reached every place, nurturing plants and animals alike.

--Sky Tribe:
Skyans characterize by their moody but incredibly intelligent demeanor, controlling lightning and wind both for offensive and defense.

Able to control weather, they kept Di'nahn environment safe from natural disasters and helped the Sunians harvesting thunder energy.

--Void Tribe:
Voidians are great theoretical thinkers, shy but crafty and clever. They control space and time, understanding their many nuances and using it to support their allies.

They were in charge of technology advancement, creating useful machines to help the rest of Di'ns.

Traditions:

--Power Peak: About once every two years, the powers of all di'ns get a sudden boost during 5 days (the third one of them being at their highest). The time between peaks is never the same, but it always happens to all di'ns at once and they are able to tell when it's comming with about a month's advance.

Back on Di'nahn those five days would be declared a festivity. Most earthians call the festivity the "Big Boing Days", but the rest of di'ns actually preffer to call it the Five Free Days.

--Last Goodbye:
Last Goodbye is the di'ns equivalent to the human funerals. Friends of a deceased di'n get together to give him or her their last farewell, and see that their crystal core is either buried on sacred ground or thrown to the depths of a big and also sacred body of water (either a big lake or in certain points of the sea).

Either way, the crystal core will eventually reach the planet's own crystal core and join with it until it's next reincarnation as a new di'n.

The Di'nahn Vlin Shards arrived to Earth each one at their own speed after a long travel through space. That means that during a certain period of time (we estimate it was about twenty years long), a shard could have fallen at any place, at any time.

Heroes (Shard Struck):
As the shards landed on planet Earth, some struck humans on their way down. Some others simply had the luck to find the shard and touch it instead of being hit. Other creatures are bound to have been struck by a shard, even other alien lifeforms.

As a lone Di'nahn Shard touches a living being, it gets absorbed into his/her body. From that moment onwards, the shard and it's power is bound to that person.

Aside from the special unique power attached to the shard, any "shard struck" gains the innate ability of seeing through di'ns concealing ability.

A hero's power is at it's best when paired with a di'n, as both energies resonate and boost each other.

As far as we know, certain guys are able to remove the powers from a hero using a strange device. We advise against trying to find them, through, as they seem to be up to no good.

Note:
Getting struck by a shard feels like, well, being struck by a pointy object. However, it's just a false impression given by the shard being absorbed and no real damage is actually dealt to the body of the receiver.

Types of Powers:
Powers can be classified for the way in which they affect their human vessel. If not mastered, any power may trigger accidentally.

The following is a chronological list of important plot events.

Di'nahn Vlin explodes: After years of peace, a sudden war broke loose on Di'nahn that made di'ns fight against di'ns. The war fed the darkness, and eventually lead to the planet's destruction. Di'nahn Vlin's Crystal Core divided into many shards that should have scattered through the universe, but somehow most of them seemed to gravitate towards a certain place. As they traveled, the darkness followed them close behind. Many survivor di'ns followed them during an interestelar exodus and eventually arrived to planet Earth.

The shop is created: A voidian called Avalon found out a lone human, Akio, who had been struck by a Di'nahn Shard. After some time together learning from him the human language and some more time comprehending his abilities, they decided to partner up and seek other humans in the same condition, as well as the scattered di'ns. For that purpose they opened a shop called Accidental Heroes. Thanks to the help of everybody, they were able to give shelter to many homeless di'ns as well as partner some of them with other powered humans. Things were peaceful for a time.

Shadow attack: Not even a year had passed when strange shadow creatures appeared near the shop and attacked any hero at sight. Combined efforts made them retreat, but nothing could be learnt about them, except that they were hurt when you hit them.

The shop closes: During one of his frequent travels to seach for other di'ns and heroes, Avalon never came back. Worried about the safety of others, Akio decided to close the shop and keep things quiet for some time, until he had news about his partner.

The shop reopens: After a long year of silence, Akio found three dimension travelers (Syaoran, Fai and Kurogane) that had been di'nahn powered appearing in the abandoned shop. Deciding that it may be a signal, he reopened the shop and spread the word for all the heroes to return back.

The Evil Power-Thief Lady: A misterious woman appeared and fought some of the heroes, stealing their powers when she was able to defeat them. A combined effort was needed in order to beat her, but finally all powers were gained back. The lady was able to run away, through.

The First Loss: The di'ns decided to celebrate a party (The Big Boing Days) to cheer everybody up, but their efforts were wasted when one of the heroes (Gabrio) lost control of his powers, separating all the souls of his friends from their bodies. Guardians were able to restore everybody back, but because of the whole thing Kiron too lost control of himself, going bersek and destroying the shop in the process. As everybody got out of the shop, Osiris stayed fighting Kiron to help him regain his senses. In the end, he managed to calm him down and throw him out of danger, just as the whole shop colapsed with him still inside.

The New Shop: After some time, a new shop was opened and heroes and guardians started to come back again, some still mourning for Osiris' loss. New heroes were found, included the first alien hero (the Doctor) and a lot of new faces.

Dissapearences: Not everything was happiness arround. Suddenly di'ns started to dissapear, including two who were already partnered. Unknown to everybody, a strange shadow creature in the shape of a fuzzy insect was preying them down. Also, unknown to everybody, someone had been spying the shop from the shadows for some time.

Snooping arround: The skyan Makotoh managed to find the remains of a Daniel's previous guardian, Kaineferu, only to be ambushed by shadow creatures. Thankfully he was able to scape from them thanks to Daniel's help and his invisibility ability. They decided to partner up to avenge their fallen friend.

The Temptress: A misterious woman in leage with the shadow insects was trying to lure guardianless heroes with the promise of freeing them from their powers. Kanth, the di'n that was partnered with Osiris, found and confronted her when she was trying to take a girl (Nadia) away. The woman finally left without putting a fight, but it was clear that they at least knew what had happened with Osiris.

Not much is known about the shadow creatures, nor the seemingly shard struck humans that have appeared lately trying to steal di'nahn powers.

Shadow Creatures:
They are probably linked to Di'nahn's destruction and the darkness that crept within the planet, but since there is no way to know it for sure right now that's just a conjeture.

They seem to be invisible to normal humans and unable to confront light. Some take the shape of beasts, but there have been reports of insect-like ones, as well as some ones that are able to speak.

Power Thiefs:
They are humans with di'nahn powers who are able to remove powers using a strange device. They have been seen with the insect shadows, so either both groups are related or insect shadows are different from the rest of shadow creatures, which seems unlikely.

Even through these humans fight without a partner, they certainly are strong, so aproach with caution. As for now, their real purposes haven't been revealed.
