Chapter 1

“Come on mom hurry up, were going to be late!” Alexia yelled, running ahead of her mother and brother. The wind tore across the Salisbury Plain, causing her hair to flutter behind her like a flock of doves in contrast to her brothers raven hair.
Alexander smirked and slowed his pace seemingly just to spite his sister.
“What are we going to be late for Alexia, your damn beauty contest?”. Alexia stopped in her tracks and pivoted on the spot, her vivid blue eyes locking with his blood red ones.
“Its more than just a beauty contest you fagot!” She hollered. She turned from her brother and flipped her hair from in front of her face. “Any skank can win a beauty contest, what I'm doing takes elegance and talent.”
Alexander smiled sadistically and laughed watching Alexia walk. “Then what are you doing here, you have neither.”
“Shut up boy!” Their mother screamed not even dignifying Alexander with his name. “I brought your sister here to be proud of her, unless you want severely beaten you will just stand by and watch her performance.”
Alexander exhaled slowly, and tucked his anger away like he always did. It was not uncommon for him to be shut down by his mother like that, and even less uncommon for his sister to come out of their quarrels victorious.
“Come on mom its right over there!” Alexia squealed excitedly as a circle of circus tents crept into view. Alexia and her mother broke into a run, as Alexander continued to walk at the same pace he had been, not really caring whether he saw his sisters performance or not, it wouldn't change anything anyway.
No matter what, Alexia will come out on top, same as always. Alexander grimaced with the thoughts running through his mind, and just continued to walk as if he never had the thought at all. As he realized that he was slowly catching up with his relatives he tried to think about something else, even going as far as to break the rocks he passed down into categories of size and sharpness. That rock is pretty sharp, I could probably kill them with it just as easily as with a knife.

“Look how pretty mom, thats the one that I'm going to be in!” Alexia was pointing to a very large and very obnoxious looking tent blazoned with the pink and blue colors of cotton candy.
“Of course that is where you will be Alexia You always bring your dear mother nothing but the best. I've come to expect it from you.” Her mother smiled and hugged her daughter close, as they both gazed at the tent joyously. Even from a couple of yards away Alexander could not help but to throw up in his mouth a little bit upon the overzealous show of affection between the two. He was really beginning to wish that he had picked that rock up a few minutes ago.
Morons... Alexander thought to himself as he stood against a nearby pole. He was still about 12 feet away from his mother and sister so he was content. “Remind me why I had to be here again?”
Alexia removed herself from her mothers embrace, and walked past her brother, taking care not to look at him, and to keep her back towards him as she spoke.
“You are here because I had mom bring you here.” She flipped her hair slowly behind her head and twirled it in her fingers as the wind blew past them once more. “I had mom bring you here, so that once again you can see just how pathetic you are.”
Alexander balled his fists tight at his sides, but quickly placed his hands in his pockets, not giving his sister the pleasure of knowing that she was striking a nerve.
“You are nothing Alexander, not a boy, not a man, not even a monster. You are absolutely nothing, and I plan to make sure that you see yourself the way mother and I see you by the end of the day.”
Alexanders fists were balled so tightly in his pockets now that his nails had dug into his palms and drawn blood. He felt his hand bump against something long and rugged suddenly. I thought I left it at home... He uncurled his fist and wrapped his fingers slowly around the object, a smile forming on his lips.
“You just remember Alexia, at the end of the day what two whores think of me makes no difference. No matter what the people here may say about you, or what happens today, you are still just as worthless as I am. We are both sin of the same degree.” Alexander smirked as his sisters face grew red with fury, but his victory was short lived as his mother's fist swiftly connected with his jaw. Their mother was only 35 and her punches were still strong enough to knock Alexander right off his feet.
“Don't you ever talk about my daughter like that again you vermin, you have no right!” The acid in his mothers voice was almost enough to melt the cool metal of the object that Alexander had been holding, and that now lie open beside him having fallen from his pocket as he fell. His mothers eyes grew wide with what could best be described as a mixture of rage and terror. She walked over to where her son had fallen and wrenched him standing by his hair. “I took that switchblade away from you boy!”
Alexander pulled himself away from his mother and brushed himself off. “Yea, you did, and I took it back. What of it?”
His mother grabbed the switchblade up off the ground and opened it, pointing it at her son. “When I take something from you, you do not get it back. I am going to have to punish you.” Off in the distance a group of people were heading towards the feuding family, his mother quickly closed the switchblade and tossed it into her purse. “We'll finish this at home...” Alexander stood as a statue the entire time, not showing fear when she had pointed the knife at him, nor relief when she put the blade away, all he showed was apathy. To show anything to his mother would have given her what she wanted, and no amount of physical pain could surpass the mental anguish that Alexander would have gone through if he willingly satisfied his mother.

“Mom, Mom! Hurry it up already!” Alexia exclaimed as she headed towards the tents. “...I would like to have my audition before they decide to pack up and leave.”
Their mother turned from Alexander and hurried after Alexia, leaving Alexander trailing behind like always. Alexander exhaled slowly again and stretched his fingers out to regain his composure.
“Just think Alex, your sister is going away today...”
As the thoughts echoed through his mind Alexander glanced down to his shadow, to see it smiling up at him menacingly. He returned the malicious grin to his shadow and resumed walking in the direction that his siblings had gone.
“That's right...”He said quietly. “She wont be there to protect the b***h anymore will she?”
His shadow nodded as a knife shot out of its hands.
“ And once shes nice and comfortable, you will send her to her grave just like your miserable father before her.”
Alexander started to walk faster, not wanting to miss his sisters departure.

“If I am accepted into the circus I plan to use my powers to help bring peace to this warring world, and also to spread the beauty of freaks far and wide.” As Alexia spoke, the fake blonde female judge in the front row wiped her eyes, and then blew her nose on her handkerchief.
“Cela était beau, merci Mademoiselle ” The blonde continued to drool over Alexia's as the platinum blonde in the center chair spoke.
“Gag me with a spoon...” She said aloud as she stared at Alexia in disbelief. “This is an audition for a freak show, not the Miss America pageant. I don't even want to see your power, just go to Cirque de Belle and get out of my face. Suicide bring me the bucket.”
“You can have it when I'm done with it Terror” The gentleman beside her leaned back in his chair and stared at Alexia with the same disbelief that Terror had. “I can not believe that one would come so ill informed to an audition, or at least so egotistical.”
“Suicide thats enough, remember your temper....” Terror said softly as she placed her hand on top of Suicides.
Alexia scoffed in front of them and threw her hair back behind her shoulder. “I knew that I was going to Cirque de Belle, only creatures like my brother end up in Circus Gothia with your kind.”
“Thanks for a reason you little b***h..” Terror jumped from her seat only to be pulled back down into it by Suicide.
“She's not worth it Terror....” He whispered to her softly. “But given the way that she talks about her brother, maybe we should check him out.”
Terror smiled softly and, despite her own displeasure, looked towards Alexia.
“So why do you say that your bother would end up in Circus Gothia little girl?”
“Well, aside from being worthless lower class scum, my brother is dark and twisted just like the rest of your freaks.” Alexia stared down at her manicured nails as she spoke just to make herself seem blatantly uninterested in what Terror had to say.
“Well I think dark and twisted fits the bill of Circus Gothia quite well...” Terror gazed around the field slowly, spying Alexander leaning against the nearby pole. “...however I will just have to judge him for myself.”
“You look smart lady, don't put any value on what my sister says shes a dumb a**.” Alexander spoke as he saw Terror staring at him, it was making him feel slightly uneasy.
“I am rather fond of listening to morons...” Terror announced happily “...it gives me something to talk to my children about later, now come here”
Alexander sighed and walked over to her, expecting to become subject to more humiliation. “Yea, yea what do you want?”
Terror just smiled as she watched Alexia's face contort with rage and then turned back to Alexander slowly. “My dear boy, what is your name?”
Alexander tilted his head to the side in confusion, not sure what exactly was happening. “come again?”
“I asked you what your name was, calling you boy is just degrading. I want to know your name and your power, please.”
A small smile appeared on Alexanders face, as he began to walk towards Terror slowly. “Why do you want to know my name, isn't my sister good enough for you?”
Terror's lips curled into a smile, which looked positively sinister when coupled with her red lipstick. It seemed as if she had just smeared someones still beating heart across her lips, and then wiped away the excess blood.
“That is exactly it my dear boy...” She made a gagging motion as she continued to speak. “..bubble gum pop pixies disgust me”
Alexander grinned slightly and placed his hands down at his sides.
“My name is Alexander...” He paused for a moment and glanced into the sky, watching as a dark ring began to form around the sun. “...and just for laughs, I will show you my power.”
An unnerving calm began to sweep the area, the kind of calm that made one wonder what was going to happen next. The darkness around the sun seeped into the orange glowing ball and sent it into a state of annular eclipse leaving only a small ring of light surrounding it. As the sky grew dark the grounds around them turned completely black and slowly from the ground beneath Alexanders feet, rose a large jet black pipe organ. The dark remnants of earth melted from the pipes and keys, and the instrument stood before the all the judges as if it were waiting, waiting for its maestro. Alexander sat before the foreboding instrument, and exhaled slowly, allowing his fingers to run across the manuals quickly before he began playing. The minor and diminished intervals of his music easily complimented the sinister environment that he had created, and the notes he played cut through the still air like knives, and droves themselves right into the ear of all the judges. Terror slammed her hands down on the table and interrupted Alexanders performance, just as his mother was running towards him. Terror rose her finger and pointed it directly at Alexanders face.
“You are mine, Alexander”
