About 90 countries have the death penalty, but is it ever justifiable to execute criminals?

I don't think death is really a punishment. When they are killed the punishment ends. I think it is more of a way to remove someone permanently. I view killing as a waste of potential. Even if they stay in prison for the rest of there lives, they can at least have an effect on the other prisoners.

Kaz-Balan It's useless and un-civilized. France ( just like a vast majority of countries ) has gotten rid of it. As a personal example, I'll merely mention my a$$hole of a father, Â Â who continually abused me from the age of 8 up to when I fled him ( I was 15 ). I'm now 20 and I've just dealt with him. Did I kill him ? Noope. I just made sure he got ruined, that he ended down as a hobo in the street... Â Â ...and then I picked him and took great care of his knees, ankles, Â Â of all of his knuckles, of his teeth, tongue, ears and eyes... Â Â ...and I left him breathing, to be taken care of in the worst hospital I could find. I made him pay. I made him suffer. I got retribution from him. I didn't kill him. ( It was the very best X-mas I EVER had ! ) Can a corpse defend itself, pay, suffer or retribute anyone anymore ? but you left him wishing he was dead. the entire idea of executing people is to get rid of them in a way that wont pose an economic strain on the country, and will keep them from causing further problems. i'm for the death penelty, because if they mess up that bad there better off dead.

if you kill someone, then you are not allowing them a chance to love with the guilt of the crime that they have commited. living with a guilty consience would be a good punishment because they would be haunted by their actions fo as long as they live. when you kill them, you put them out of their missery. so instead of death, let them rot in a jail.

It's costly to those on the outside of prison through taxes to support those in prison that essentially have the basic rights of life anyways. Do they suffer regret for their atrocities? Not really. Even as they age, their only regret may be getting caught. Some reform, others do not. Many just brag about it their time in jail and try to run things on the outside from the inside, in note of drug lords and the such. Redemption should be achieved I think. I know I should forgive someone of their sins, but could I forgive someone of raping a loved one, or murdering someone close to me? Would I be on the stand to ask them to receive death, or would I let their life be spared in hopes they could redeem themselves, and let God work it out? That is a difficult situation when put into perspective. One of which would require much thought from me, and the battle of faith on whether I should strive for such a thing or not.

Don't just kill them, make use of their now restricted freedom! What's a better army than one that's pre-"trained" to kill and has nothing to lose, so they can go in all Rambo style. They also make for good human lab rats, I mean test subjects, I mean to go live on a farm with Snow-Flake.

i think that we should still have the death penality but it should be in a humane way.Even though those who are being put to death are bad people they still do not deserve to die in an inhumane way.

Humane way? Like when the judge pronounces the sentence, just before it sinks in, a government sniper shoots the guilty guy in the back of the head?
No pain, no agonizing over his last days on earth, no paying to jail him for those last days/ years, just "court costs." I think it's a rather humane execution if they don't even know they are dead. On the other hand the guillotine was supposed to fulfill that purpose, and it kept not quite killing people in horrible ways........

Those who get sentenced to death should be killed they're only regret is dying at the hands of the goverment. They should be killed in the way they killed people none of this let me inject you with a serum that numbs you and then another that kills you in 5 minutes. Doctors trated Terri Scivo worse then death row inmates.
