Since this is a kitchen guild, I thought we could make a list of the "essential" things that one should keep in the cupboard ^_^ (I'll update this post periodically to add everything).
I'll start.

I'm trying to think of my most frequent offenders.
Rosemary is a big one. I have plants all around my porch and yet I still retain dried leaves and go through them like a junkie goes through his parent's jewelry for rock.
I cook a lot of Indian fare so I inevitably pop whole spices. Cumin, Coriander, Mustard seed. These have a rather high turnover.
I bake bread a lot and cycle out instant yeast and bread flour quite often.
All sorts of stocks. I try to keep 4 parts chicken, 2 parts veggie and one part beef on hand at all times for soup, risotto, etc. For point of reference, chicken I keep a gallon on hand as a rule. I don't keep seafood stock on hand because I generally only use that in a few things, and I can always just throw a live lobster at my wife the night before I want to make anything with seafood stock. She'll pick the shell clean and then I get to take the remains, add mirepoix and sachet, and let that ride for a while.
Sesame & poppy seeds get on my bread a lot.
Garum and/or anchovies get used frequently due to my penchant for italian food.
I keep a stand full of yellow & red onions, shallots, leeks, and garlic. Very high turnover rate.

Well, I have the basic ingredients for variety of desserts, but I mostly do cakes (Fondant) because I love decorating it. I would mostly just have key ingredients to any desserts:
Fondant Eggs Milk Sugar Butter Chocolate Water Vanilla
