Welcome to the Manor of Sleep. It's important to understand that for the duration of this plot, a variant ruleset is in effect.
There will be a Game Master (GM) in charge of facilitating and describing actions and occurrences throughout this event; this role is also known by the title of Storyteller. It is their job to make sure players have fun, and that characters properly interact with the world. The GM is not your enemy, even if they're the ones controlling characters and environments that are hostile or harmful to yours! The GM wants only to challenge you, and wants you to have fun roleplaying through that challenge and achieving victory.
The GM's Gaia account may be run by multiple individuals. Current candidates are Seung Mina56, Violetta Cadaverini, and MoronSonOfBoron.
Characters with magic/supernatural abilities or equipment will find that their powers are heavily suppressed while dreaming in the Manor of Sleep. Certain plot points or environments may necessitate the use of such special abilities; for the most part, a character's skills are defined by their ability scores (and some found items).
We want everyone to have a part. If you're not exploring the Manor of Sleep, you can be a part of research in the real world. There will also be other things still be going on in the hotel.
If your character takes so much as one step inside the Manor of Sleep, you commit to having your character be part of the entire plot. We understand if you have RL issues or are having issues posting, but post as often as possible, and when it makes sense to do so. If you are having serious issues coming up with something, talk to the group about it, and talk to the moderators of this event about it. We can help you with direction, and there will be also characters that can help point the way.
What's Expected of the Players
- ASK questions before making assumptions. If you want something clarified, ask.
Roleplay all your actions and movement in the Manor of Sleep, and be specific! The GM is there to guide you, but it is your choices that will affect what happens. (If the GM misses something, let them know)
Have fun. If something confuses you, or you're not enjoying yourself, talk to the GM about it.
This event is horror-themed. If you don't like horror much, please do not get yourself involved only to complain about it.
Split the party. It could be fun. 8D Of course, Seung-mun loves being wicked at times. >> But there are rewards for solo adventures.
What's Expected of the GM
- Some actions are determined by dice rolls. The GMs will handle all the dice rolls; you don't need to know or worry about it. There has to be trust between players and the GMs to make things fun and balanced. (The GMs are free to modify dice rolls in this regard)
The GM will try to be very clear and informative whenever possible, which is all the time! Everything relevant to a character and their situation should be available to the player. If you need to know something, just ask. Knowing you need something helps the GMs set the stage.
Like any normal roleplay group moderators, the GMs will be responsible for maintaining a civil and friendly atmosphere among the players.
The GMs will do their best not to discriminate. We want everyone to be consumed by the tattoo equally. twisted If you want to get involved, or want to do something but feel left out, talk to us.
