Michael wandered around his home. He was looking for his bag so he could go to the academy. His little sister nearly ran him over and hugged his stomach. "Ack! Meirou! What's up?" Meirou held his bag. "I found it!" She put it in her brother's hands and smiled. "Dad was looking for it in the kitchen! He found it under the sink!" Michael looked confused. "What was it doing there?" Meirou laughed. "I don't know!" Michael's older brother walked in and glanced at Michael. "You're late." He reached for Meirou's hand and took her out of the room. "Michael and I are going to talk for a minute. You go tell mom to stop looking for the bag." Meirou pouted. "Fine." Michael sighed. "What is it, Ame?" Ame shook his head. "Why are you bothering with the academy? The family isn't a Shinobi oriented family. You're just lucky Meirou doesn't know what Kunai or shurikan are." Ame sighed. "Little brother, if Meirou gets the idea of being a shinobi stuck in her head, so help me, I'll personally take one of your kunai and ram it up your butt." Ame turned toward the door. "You're late, go before they expel you, Mike." Michael frowned. "My name's not Mike." He ran out the front door and ran to the academy. "I'm late. Fantastic..."

Lily walked right up to an old building. It was tall and wide. Michael just stared at the top. "Uh... Which one's yours?"
Lily smiled again. "Around the middle." She opened the door and started walking toward the stairs. She turned to see if Michael was following her, but he was still staring at the building. "Come on!"
Michael snapped out of it. He followed Lily up several flights of stairs and down a hallway until they reached a door with a letter and a number. D14.
Lily unlocked the door and walked over to the table that dominated her small kitchen. She put her groceries on the surface and began to put them into the small fridge. "Sit where you like!"
Michael looked around the small apartment. It had a sofa, a small TV sitting on a short table in front of it, and the small kitchen. He saw another door that had a few seals placed around the door frame and on the door near the knob. "Your room?" He pointed at the door.
Lily looked up and over to the door. "Yeah."
Michael walked over and looked at the seals. One was protection, one was fire, a few were water, and the rest he couldn't make heads or tails out of. "Like to be protected?"
Lily nodded. "I don't want to wake up with an enemy shinobi standing over my bed." She turned back to the fride and finished putting away her food.
Michael blushed when Lily's back was turned. I'm in a girl's apartment, and I barely know her. Ame would rag on me until I grew old enough to stop being able to hear him... He scratched his ear nervously.
Lily walked over to Michael's side. "Trying to figure out how to remove the seals?
Michael jumped backwards. "N-no! I-I was trying to r-read them!"
{Lily's completely oblivious to other people's discomfort... She's really smart for a ninja, but if she was cupid, she'd miss the mark every time...}

Lily smiled. "I don't understand some of them either. I didn't place all of them, some were there when I got here." She pointed to one of the one's that Michael couldn't read. "That one's earth."
Michael looked at it, then he tilted his head. "I still can't tell what they are... How do you know that one's earth?"
Lily laughed. "Because that's one of the few that I put there." She walked over to the TV and pressed the power button. "Which station's your favorite? Or do you want to try to decipher the seals all day?"
Michael blushed, but Lily didn't see it. "I'll watch TV..." He sat on the sofa and watched as Lily turned it to an old action movie.
Lily had seen the movie before. It was pretty good. "Have you seen this one?"
Michael shook his head. "No. What's it about?"
Lily sat on the sofa. "It's about a guy who has to defeat a bunch of robots to save humanity."
Michael tried to watch the movie, rather than stare at Lily through the corner of his eye. He slipped a lot, he kept watching her face. He missed about half the movie while doing this. At the end he finally was able to look at the TV to see the hero stand triumphantly with the other survivors. "Wow..."
Lily didn't notice Michael staring. She had watched the movie from the beginning to the end. "Like it?"
Michael just nodded, not looking at her.
Lily smiled. "Thought you would. Even though it's kinda old, it's till pretty good." She looked at the clock hanging over her kitchen sink. "Spent about an hour here, do your parents get worried if you stay out late?"
Michael shook his head. "I'm pretty much free now that I joined the academy. I should probably get home before they start to worry..." He tried not to bring up what his parents did for a living.
Lily didn't notice, she was stretching her arms. "Wanna go get a bowl of ramen before you have to go home?"
Michael shook his head. "My parents are probably wondering what I'm doing..."
Lily nodded. "Well, I'm going out for ramen tonight. If you want a quick bowl before you have to go, I'll buy."
Lily stood up and walked out of her apartment. Michael followed her. She locked the door behind her and started down the hall to the stairs. Michael cleared his throat. "Um... I guess I should tell you about my family... You told me about yours..."
Lily smiled. "Go ahead, if you want. I don't have to know if you don't want to talk about it."
They both walked down the flights of stairs and out of the building. Michael started to describe his family. "My dad's a construction worker, he fixes the arena for the Chunin exams, and any other shinobi related collateral damages. My mom stays at home cleaning and making food because she loves her home. My brother wants to be like my dad, but he doesn't really like the shinobi... My sister's just a little kid who does what she wants because she's a little princess... My brother doesn't want my little sister to become a ninja and he doesn't really like the idea of me becoming one..." Michael couldn't continue, thinking of his brother's threat from earlier in the day.
{Ow... My poor fingers!}

{Because I'm bored and it's takeing Rabe awhile to respond}
Michael walked back to his home, thinking about his day. He was so caught up in his thoughts, he didn't notice his brother sneak over and put him in a headlock, until it was too late. "ACK! Ame! Get off!!" Ame sneered as he dragged his brother back outside. "Where ya been, Mike? Mom's been getting worried and Dad thought we'd have to hire a search party." Michael swung a wild punch at his brother, who released him and let him fall on his face. "Ow!" Ame smirked. "Jeez, squirt. You're getting worse." Michael turned around and glared at his brother. "Why are you being such an a**?!" Ame leaned over and grabbed Michael's ear, hard. "Listen up, squirt. Noone cares about what your doing or why. All we care about is that Meirou doesn't learn about your crap. We don't want you setting a bad example for her, and your being out late, doesn't help." Ame let go and smacked his brother enough to hurt, but not to leave a mark. "I don't want to see you trying that ninja crap here. Take it to your precious academy and leave it there." Michael watched as his brother went back inside. He rubbed his cheek lightly and followed Ame slowly. His mother walked in and smiled. "Why, there you are. How was your first day?" Michael wanted to tell his mom what happened, the near bullying, the rope escape practice, Lily, his brother's little 'chat', but he knew his brother would single him out again if he didn't drop the sensitive subject. "It was good." His mother smiled again before heading off to do whatever she was doing. Michael walked into his small room and sat on the bed. "When will things be normal?" He didn't notice that Meirou had snuck in. "When the weird stuff goes away!" Michael smiled at his sister. "Mei, be a good girl and play with Ame." Meirou ran up and hugged Michael. "No, no, no! Ame's been mean! I wanna play with Michael!!" Michael sighed. "I'm tired, if you don't wanna play with Ame, go play with mom or dad. I need sleep, and I can't be late tomorrow either. Being tired won't help. Go have fun, I'm going to sleep." Meirou pouted. "Fine." She walked out, looking glum. Michael sighed and rubbed his head. I want to be nice to Meirou, but Ame'll do something stupid... Michael pulled his bag off his shoulder and set it on the small desk against his wall. "That'll stay right there so that I don't have to play hide and seek with it tomorrow..."
Michael thought about what happened that morning. How the hell did it get under the sink anyway? I wouldn't put it there, Meirou wouldn't do something to get me in trouble, mom and dad had no idea of how it got there, Ame didn't seem to surprised to see- Wait... Did he hide it on purpose?! I know he doesn't like the Shinobi, but what if he's trying to harass me into quiting? Sounds like typical Ame. He seemed pretty damn happy that I was late too. I'm going to have to hide my stuff before he can pull that stunt again. Michael picked up his bag and hid it in the desk's one large drawer. He lay on his bed and sighed. What happened this morning, won't happen again, Ame.

{From the Hokage's Mountain}
Lily walked back to her apartment, still feeling happy about convincing the boy to join the academy. She opened her door, stepped inside and locked it behind her. She set her things down on the table and walked into her room, not bothering to turn on any lights. She flopped onto her bed and curled into a ball. "Good night."

{Because everyone's sleeping}
Lily woke up at dawn. She walked out of her room and went to the kitchen. She pulled some eggs out of the fridge and fried them up. She put the eggs on a plate and went for a glass of milk. She read the expiration date on the milk and frowned. "Expired? Already?" She dumped the milk into the sink and threw out the carton before gidding into her breakfast. "Gotta go shopping again..."
~Mini time skip~
Lily pat her pockets checking that she had her keys, wallet, and ninja tools. "Check, check and check." She walked out of her apartment and locked the door behind her, before running toward the academy.

~Meanwhile~

Michael woke up to his sister shaking his chest. "Huh?" Meirou was shoving him hard and yelling. "Wake up!! You're gonna be late!!" Michael looked at the clock, saw that he was late, and that his alarm was off. "Grr!" He jumped out of bed and rushed to get ready. Meirou went off to play. Ame smirked as Michael rushed out of the house. "Seeya, Mike."
Michael remembered his theory before he went to sleep. He grit his teeth as he ran to make it before the late bell.
{TO THE ACADEMY!!!}
