All month long everyone has been focused on Obama's inauguration. I wonder what the other presidents are pondering in their graves....Guess what they crash the inauguration!!!

THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION
The Emancipation Proclamation consists of two executive orders issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. The first one, issued September 22, 1862, declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. The second order, issued January 1, 1863, named the specific states where it applied.

The Monroe Doctrine is one of the keystones of American foreign policy. It says that the western hemisphere is off limits to foreign encroachment. Roosevelt added the Roosevelt Corollary to the Doctrine. This stated that it was the responsibility of America to intervene with force if necessary in Latin America to enforce the Monroe Doctrine. This was part of what became known as 'Big Stick Diplomacy'

What is awesome is you did not just look at the picture and copy it Mystic. I love that you gave some history too. Does that mean only the slaves that were runaways were freed? The ones who did not go back by January to their masters?

Yes LadyN that is exactly what it means. All the slaves in hiding and that had run away were free IF they did not return by January. The rest were still as is but it was a great accomplishment. Every small thing is I think.
Well I just thought I would add that since Mystic wasnt' here.
