So, I occasionally do the modeling thing, and I have a lot of photographers interested in pin-up and burlesque type of shoots. Mostly pin-up style.


Here's where I need the help:


1. I have no idea how to do those lovely hairstyles! It COMPLETELY evades me.

Also my hair is down to my hips, so a lot of pin-up hairstyles don't work with me.


2. I need the wardrobe for it. I have a Marilyn Monroe style dress, except it's black, but I need more than just one costume. Nude or implied nude pin-up is easy, all you need is the right props. Problem is, I need to find the right props. Where do I find (Or could I make... Hmm...) things like pin-up hats, gloves, stockings, lingerie, garter belts (!), fur stoles, etc.?

I have some shoes that would work, but more pin-up style shoes would help, too.

AND I'm on a really tight budget, so a way to find any of these things for a non-exorbitant price would be excellent.


3. Make-up. I have the basics down, but I'm still a little fuzzy on exactly how to do good pin-up make-up.


The most important one is no. 1. If I have the hairstyles, I can make it work, so if any of you wonderful people have links to tutorials, books, or can just explain it to me, I would be greatly appreciative.

And of course any information on the last two would be appreciated as well.

And as for tutorials for hair, I saw this one at the Livejournal Vintage Hair Community done by this one girl with hair down to her hips, but she had it up in rolls, very forties, and very cute. It was months ago, though and I can't find it. It was on youtube too, but I was a doofus and didnt favorite it. ; ;

But that site will have a TON of people to help you, and a ton of ideas.

I'm not a big fan of most of the tutorials on youtube, with the fake Victory rolls just stuffed up on the top of the head THAT YOU CAN SEE THROUGH and showing the rat and all that, if they even bother to use one. Or theyre just curled hair that they said HEY THIS IS KINDA FIFTIES HUH? or lame-o pomps. sigh.

Go to vintage hair. I love them. heart
