Robin the Teen Wonder What about the 1966 version with Adam West and Burt Ward? O: Ohhh, that show is fun! Haven't seen enough of it to get involved in a real in-depth discussion, but even so, it definitely deserves a mention here, yeah. 3nodding

Has anyone seen that new Batman cartoon? The Brave and the Bold or something like that? I saw it on TV today. I turned it off after about 2 minutes, cuz it was kinda terrible. I hate the animation style. xp

As I understand, it was made to have a very retro feel. The Brave & the Bold Batman is "nicer" than some other versions, especially since he plays (fairly) well with others. I've only seen two episodes and my reactions was more, "Eh, if I catch it, ok, and if I miss it, no big deal."
For those who don't know, "The Brave and the Bold" was originally the title of a DC comics series which had an emphasis on team-ups, especially with either Bats or Superman.

@Robin: Well, I personally wouldn't go so far as to say that, but the show definitely is better than a lot of people give it credit for. 3nodding
@Lulu: No, I haven't it. And don't plan to-- "Batman Beyond" and the final season of "Batman the Animated Series" were bad enough in my opinion, and those things haven't been on in years. So I'm kind of afraid to see how things would be now (especially considering "The Batman" cartoon. All I can say about that one is: O_o; )
@Nev: I dunno. "Retro" is one thing, but the stills I've found of "The Brave and the Bold" remind me a little too much of all the stuff I ended up hating about BtAS towards the end. But, maybe that's just me. sweatdrop

Yeah, 'The Brave And The Bold' was a concept that DC tried not once, but twice. The first time around, it happened in the late 50's into very early 70's, and while it did put much emphasis on people teaming up with either Batman or Superman (oftentimes it was the two of them together as opposed to other heroes), they also featured team-ups between other heroes that had a known friendship, like Barry Allen (The Flash) and Hal Jordan (Green Lantern). Batman worked better with others during that time era than in any other. This was also the time era that the Adam West Batman show was based on. Many people say that the show wasn't true to Batman, but the fact of the matter was that it WAS, it was just true to an era of Batman when Batman wasn't really true to his original concept himself. All that nonsense ended, though, when DC Comics, in their infinite wisdom and incredible foresight, introduced a new villain, one with a different feel and goal than any other man Batman ever faced before: Ra's al Ghul.

A local channel recently started showing the 1960s Batman on TV again (they also carry "Lost in Space", "Star Trek" and other gems of the era). My kids are loving it. Me, I watched it when I was their age, and wow, it hasn't improved any with time. I'm just glad their first introduction to the Bat was my collection of The Amimated Series on disk.
