How long do you expect to play? Is it something you're doing as an extracurricular in high school or college? Do you expect to play in a professional or semiprofessional orchestra? Do you expect to teach bassoon? Do you expect to go off on another career but always play the bassoon on the side?

At this point i'm leaning more towards majoring in performance then i am in medicince. So I hopefully will play professionally at some point in my life. I do plan on teaching and i'm actually about to start teaching some middle school kids who are just picking up their first bassoon ^^.

Im shooting to be a professional!
My goal is to be in the New York philharmonic (ideally) and teach at really major music institutes. Call it overshooting but i have a really great chance at it! Im in a youth orchestra that works with the L.A. phil. So I've had some pretty good teachers for a 14 year old lol
I've been playing for almost 2 years now and i've gotten REALLY got at it so thats my main goal.
If not, then i'll just be a teacher. Ideally for a major institute or college but for now, i want to be in a philharmonic ^^

I'm gonna play my whole life. I'll probably wind up teaching, since I think I'm working at a music camp over the summer. I would love to perform, but since I'm 14 I'm kinda limited to the Youth Symphony Orchestra of my state and anything else at my high school.

Hard to say. I believe I'll be playing it for as long as I'm able... Which is hopefully at least 40 years. lol (when I'll be 60.)
I'm a music major, and it's my main instrument, so I'm not going to put it down anytime soon. I hope to do more with it even when I'm out of college.

I just started playing bassoon last summer because it sounds awesome! Then I started in the advanced band at my high school. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I plan to be a music teacher. I already play in a community orchestra and a band. My whole life is devoted to becoming a professional musician smile
