I know that some of us (me included) don't necessarily employ great practicing techniques. Playing straight through a piece can be fun, but it isn't necessarily the quickest or best way to learn it. Does anybody have good practicing techniques or warmup routines that they find particularly effective?

What i do is that i do chromatic expanding tones for about 10 min just to get the bassoon warmed up. Then i do chromatic scales throughout my entire range (i can hit the really really really high E; the one on treble clef) about 3-5 times
Then i do a few excerpts from Wissenbourn for about 30min and Practice whatever piece my teacher or my director gives me for a few hours ^^
What i do with pieces though, is i dissect them. I break it down into parts getting things that I'm struggling on. All i look for is in this order
-Notes -Rhythm -Articulation -Dynamics -Musicality (Emotion)
I just go though those steps one by one very slowly so that i don't just skim by them lol
