Just discuss what type of bassoon you play, and how you like it.

Personally, when I was in high school I played a fox 220. My parents got me the best graduation present I could have possibly asked for - a prewar Heckel. I love it more than anything in the world. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to get it restored next year and I'll have to go back to my fox. I'm not really looking forward to that.

I've only played one bassoon throughout my time of playing the bassoon. That would be my Fox Renard 222 with a High D Key.

I don't know how it would compare to other bassoons because I haven't really played them, but I love it. lol.

Currently... Im playing a Fox 240

Brand new biggrin

My 'used' heckle is in pretty bad shape right now so i needed a bassoon to hold me up for a few years. Or at least i can find a decent repairman i can trust lol

But overall, I FREAKEN LOVE FOX!~

The tone however is far superior in heckles than it is in foxes. But to me, its probably the best you can get besides a heckle

I currently use my school's Fox 220 until I save up enough to get a bassoon of my own. I might go with a new Fox when I can, but I'd also love a used Moosemann or something of that nature! I'll never be able to afford a Heckel. xd

I was extremely thankful when my parents got me a Heckel. I honestly never expected to get to play a bassoon that good. My teacher helped convince my parents though. And it took about a year of searching until I found one I liked. It's really amazing though. I probably would have never been able to afford it if I had to pay for it myself. Restoring it is probably going to cost a ton of money too...especially because I'm shipping it to Texas. The closest person I trust to fix it lives there.

I just don't see myself ever needed to spend that much, since I'm not going on solo tours any time soon. I may play in a local orchestra, but I definitely don't need a Heckel for that.

It's true. It is a TON of money. Although I suppose I'm glad I don't play a string instrument. I would spend my entire life saving up for a slightly better instrument and would never have a chance in hell at playing the best.

Actually I once played in a youth orchestra with a girl who played a stradivarius. Although I was impressed, I thought it was a bit of a waist. I mean, she's 18. She doesnt need a better violin than most professionals could dream of playing.

I currently play on a Polisi Standard. I got for my birthday last year and have loved it since. Definitely an improvement from my long bore 220 fox from school.

I have a fox, it's wood, but I don't know the model. I used to have some kind of fake crappy ebay bassoon. That one's gone now though.

I play a Fox 222. It's pretty good, since I just got it restored. It sounds NOTHING like my teacher's Heckel, though. But it's still my precious, so I'll probably keep it until college.
