From what we can tell so far what are your theories on what is going to happen in episode 3? Recently valve released some concept art for the game, all it shows is the Borealis lodged in a giant ice burg, but it's very apparent that the combine already have control over it.

There also a big possibility we'll get to drive a helicopter, and I have yet to play game that does this really well (maybe besides the battlefield games, but we aren't going for realism here).

The Borealis is a ship from "our friends at Aperture Science." So I think there's a good possibility that we'll come into contact with a certain gun. That's the only thing that Aperture Science ever created that was worth wile, so why else would the combine and the resistance be interested? Well there was one other thing Aperture Science created and that's GLaDOS. You don't think she'll be on there do you?

I don't know if GLaDOS will be on there (I doubt it) but I don't think the portal gun will be on there. That really wouldn't fit with the game mechanics of Half Life. I think it's some kind of large scale portal technology. The combine will want it because we just shut theirs off with the rocket.

That's probably true. Although, didn't GLaDOS get rid of the employees of Aperture Science? I suppose it's possible that GLaDOS managed to make a giant portal thingy, or that employees eventually got back into Aperture Science and shut down GLaDOS and then made it. Though, a large scale portal device doesn't really seem like something to be described as "too powerful to control" or something to that effect. It might be some sort of weapon. There's limitless things it could be! Now I'll be pondering all day.

Well, large portal technology would explain why the ship disappeared out of nowhere and reappeared inside an iceberg. :/

What I don't get is from the video you see in HL2:Ep2 It looks like the Borealis is half stuck in an iceberg but still floating somewhat in the water, or even not in the iceberg at all. But the concept art for Episode 3 shows it stuck inside a berg in a giant chasm.

Well, we can pretty much confirm that the ship will be in Episode 3, which I'm looking forward to. I'm not expecting any huge Portal references, because I feel that'll ruin the game. If they were to include any references at all, I'd be happy with a "Oh, it was owned by Aperture Science, but something happend to them LOL OH WELL".

Anyway, regarding the helicopter, I think Alyx would be flying it. This would make a good introduction sequence to the game though, which is probably why Valve chose to end Episode 2.

Also, I'm expecting lightsabres, enemies made of cookie dough and strong references to popular heavy metal bands.

Now that would be a game.

Hmm, what about the loss of weapons? How are they going to orchestrate that? All you did was pass out.

This isn't ******** metroid.

Maybe the helicopter crashes near the beginning. Large explosions always signal the beginning/end of an episode.

They'll probably think of something horrible like "WE HAVE TO LEAVE OUR WEPONS BEHIND COS THE LOAD WOULD BE TOO HEAVY FOR DA HELICOPTER DESPITE THE FACT YOU'RE ABLE TOO CARREH ALL DE STOOFF ARUND WIV YUU HARHARHAR."

"LOOKS LIKE IT'S COLD. CAN'T USE YOUR WEAPONS HERE GORDON."

"IT'S A BOAT GORDON. THROW EVERYTHING OUT THE WINDOW."

Or helicopter crash like Radiosquid said. That makes more sense. It's what they did at the beginning of HL:Episode 2.

Well, at the end of episode 1, the train was clearly blown up in some fashion, in Episode 2, you simply black out.

Maybe she pulled you into the chopper, and it left all your weps behind because they were too heavy?

Borealis has a giant portal gun that they'll use to get to Xen or something and lead a final siege against the Combine.

Also it would be incredibly awesome if Adrian Shephard popped up and was sent to like, kill Gordon or something, but then he snaps out of it and they team up and KICK EVERYONE'S a**.

My brother also thinks Gman is an Advisor using its ******** powers to appear human...dunno if I agree, but it's an interesting idea.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 04, 2009 9:07 am

That sounds interesting, but the Gman seems to be fighting the combine. maybe there is some sort of combine civil war? Anways, there's a Gman theory thread with my idea on it.

All I remember is that Adrian is under the Gmans control like Gordan, so I don't think he would pit them against each other.

Yeah, I figured he was fighting the Combines too; that was my brother's idea, not mine ^^

I didn't think the Adrian-fighting-Gordon thing really makes a whole ton of sense, but damn it would be awesome.

Well, we know that Eli was under the Gmans control too.

I wonder who else?

The only other people that I could think of are Barney, Kleiner, and Magnison, but they don't seem like they've been visited by the Gman, or that he would visit them. Although, Eli didn't seem like it either, so it's a possibility. The only reason I rule out Alyx is because the Gman left her near the explosion, and the vortigaunts had to save her.
