Story

Our story starts over a century ago on a world called Sera. The people of Sera have entered an age where magic and technology co-exist and are very close to forming a utopia. They have found that their planet is alive with its own soul, which breaks off smaller parts of itself. These smaller chunks of soul become the souls of newborn life and when that life dies, it returns to the planet carrying its life experiences. The planet learns from these experiences and makes choices based on them as a collective whole about what the best course of action is to insure that live goes on, thriving and growing. It is also found that the planet can clump large collections of souls from within itself together to form summon like guardians. A final note is that the planet has a built in fail safe. In the event of mass extinction it releases large amounts of energy in the form of mist from deep below the crust. This mist causes all remaining life that breaths it in to rapidly start mutating in a generation by generation stage. Helpful mutations become the building blocks for evolution which aids life to start to thrive once more while harmful mutations die off, thus the strong live and the weak die off as is nature’s way.

The people of Sera know this and have decided to leave the planet be. They have no desire to mess with the mass soul that gave birth to all life and fear that doing so might result in the planet being thrown into chaos, maybe even might cause it to stop giving birth to new souls. So they leave it be and just study it from a distance without interfering with it. Time goes by and the people’s star watchers notice something in deep space.
A large crystal like structure is drifting their way. As it get closer they note that it is made up of thousands of smaller foot long gold crystals locked together and marvel at this strange comet heading their way. It gets closer and then falls into orbit about their planet. Suddenly the comet breaks apart into the smaller crystals and rain down on their planet. The people go out and start looking for these small crystals from space in hopes of learning something about their universe and then the nightmare starts.

The crystals you see were, in truth are souls from another planet and had come to invade. Anyone who touched the crystals was possessed by these strangers from another world and lost control of their bodies as these other beings took them over. Calling themselves Umbi, this alien race had sealed their souls within the crystals so they could live forever as spritual beings or ghosts. They had come to Sera to use her people as their bodies. Sparked a all out war for control of the planet, the Umbi and Sera’s people fought long and hard. The people of Sera seeing themselves losing did the forbidden, they started tampering with the planet’s soul and creating weapons out of her guardians they could call at will. Millions died in the war, the guardians proving to be far too powerful as weapons under man’s command and the planet sensing the sudden over flow of souls returning made a choice. Summoning her greatest guardian Gabriel, a knight with six angel wings and a cannon where his legs should be, Sera placed him in high orbit above her and gave her order. Gabriel using his cannon, reduced those areas with the Umbi crystals to ruin, well over sixty-eight percent of the planet’s surface. This caused a mass extinction and the planet’s fail safe kicked in. The mist was released, Gabriel his job done returned to the planet and time marched on.

Our story takes place a century after the planet released Gabriel. The people of Sera find that the Umbi are no longer a threat but now they must face something worse. The mist has effected all life and mutations have started. Suddenly humanity finds that the world is covered with rapidly evolving monsters and to make matters worse, their own children are starting to be born with mutations. Some are born horridly deformed while others are born with strange abilities. Life is hard and dangerous and the people can only hope to see the day when the mist settles back into the planet. What little technology they have left is going to ruin because most have forgotten how to use it or repair it. Things are getting worse however because there seems to be something wrong with the planet’s soul itself. It started with newborns being born dead, without souls but has grown more common placed over the years. Plant and animals are also having trouble, not flourishing as they should. It’s as if the planet is withdrawing and allowing life to slowly die off. The white mist is starting to change as well to a dull sick looking gray in some places that causes life to die rather then evolve.
Something is wrong and if it the problem isn’t fixed, life will pass away and Sera will become a lifeless cold rock.

Rules of the rp

Fallow all rules set by Gaia and this guild firstly. Gaia is our host and makes our rp possible. This guild and her Leaders are our hosts as well and their word is law in my eyes.

I’ll allow any race you wish to play. After all Sera could have evolved many races of intelligence in her wisdom, so many different races won’t clash too badly with the story.

Sera is a world where the technology of the old kingdoms and magic co-exist and even in some cases are both a part of the same thing. Like machines that control magical effects or have magical power sources. Technology however is starting to fail and run down dew to there being so few people who understand it or know how to fix it so things tend to lean more towards magic and a mid-evil feel.

I’m a three strikes and you’re out kind of guy. Get on the black list and that counts as a strike. Keep doing whatever it was you did to get on the black list and that’s another strike. Really get under my skin and keep at it and its strike three, your out. This is a friendly, fun rp environment, and people doing things to disturb that are not welcome here and I will report you to our guild leaders.

Um…can’t think of anything else right now so have fun.

Sera herself is a almost barren rock. Over Sixty-eight percent of her surface was blasted by Gabriel and of that only about twenty percent of the land has recovered. The remaining percent is barren desert like wasteland with the ruins of old cities scattered throughout her. Between the Desert wastelands and the untouched part of Sera is a vast range of ink black mountains called the Jagged Maul. These mountains are volcanic and very active, they are known as the worlds edge because everything beyond is waste and ruin. The untouched part of Sera, called the West realm is the last refuge of civilization and has been divided up into seven kingdoms, Jorden, Adel, Crilous, Trade, Larsa, Magalia and the Republic of United Kingdoms. Air ships fly through the sky and the mist has almost completely vanished here. Found only in low valleys, underground or around areas where the earth has opened deep fissures, the people rarely come into contact with mist anymore Moving from the Jagged maul west we have Adel, a vast kingdom of sweeping plains and grasslands with small pockets of forest here and there. Adel is a farming kingdom and produces the largest amount of food goods. At the center is Trade, a kingdom that shares a border with it’s six sister kingdoms and as it name suggests is a center of trade between the kingdoms. Its landscape is a mix of all those found in its sister kingdoms and at it’s center is the mighty city of Trade named after the kingdom. Here officials from every kingdom meet to hold talks. To Trades south lie Larsa in the south east and Jorden in the south west. Larsa is a Heavily forested and maintained kingdom and their main export is minerals dug from the earth. Jorden also is heavily forested and at it’s most south points large jungles like the Amazon can be found. Jorden deals in weaponry and armor none finer can be found anywhere on Sera. Larsa and Jorden are in a cold war like state, each threatening the other but both to scared to make the first move. On the west cost just above Jorden is Magalia and it is said the finest warriors come from this land, though why is unknown. The people are hopeless romantics and delight in beautiful cities, views and wines. Perhaps their love for life is what makes them so determined on the battlefield. The country side is like Earth’s Spain, breathtaking and wondrous. Along the cost in Magalia are some of the finest beaches to be found and the kingdom’s income is based on tourism. Above Magalia is the Republic of United Kingdoms, a small grouping of nine kingdoms that have joined together as one to hold off the forces of the other much larger kingdoms. The country side is like Europe and fishing, farming and small time mining in the mountains are the main income of the kingdoms. Though small, united the nine kingdoms are a force to be dealt with carefully. The United Kingdoms are also odd in a way. Here women, not men rule the roost, work, fight in the military and talk politics while men stay home and tend the house and watch the kids. The Nine queens of the United Kingdoms vote on everything before a choice is made so no one kingdom has more power then the others.
And lastly, The largest and most powerful of the kingdoms, Crilous. Taking up all of the north lands, Crilous is a military, industry driven kingdom. Factories producing all manor of goods turn out things with a frightening speed. Crilous has deep ore mines and strip-mines scattered all about. The most technology driven of the kingdoms, Crilous is known for it’s airships which it produces and sells to the other kingdoms. Crilousion people are known for their strength and their determination, their life motto being when the going gets tough rip off someone’s head. Crilous not too long ago was in a war with the other kingdoms and almost succeed in conquering them all. However at the last minute, the emperor was killed by his son. The son became Emperor and to show he meant to have peace and a end to the war he withdrew his troops back to Crilous and gave the other kingdoms back any conquered land. Crilous is a land of deep forests in its southern most regions and as it goes north slowly turns to icy forests then to frozen tundra.

Isaac watched the images on the view screen somewhat half-heartedly. He had seen it all before a million times and truth be told he was rather quickly growing tired of looking at the city of Trade within the kingdom of Trade. From the bridge of his flag airship the Stone of tears he could see all of the city through the glass walls about him or look at it through the view screen. Endless streets spreading out from the center of the city, choked full and over crowded with millions looking to buy sell or trade. Airships by the hundreds sailing through the open sky overhead carrying goods of every nature from every corner of the known world. The white marble walls, gilded with gold tracers right in the stone work like veins of the giant dome that was the senate house and meeting grounds of royals and representatives from every kingdom which sat at the very heart of the city. The line of manors and royal houses along Kings row that was home to those said royals and representatives while here, each given their own manor that was more a palace in the richer areas of town around the senate. Currently the Stone of Tears was waiting for clearance to land at Isaac’s own palace not a block away for the senate dome, waiting for air traffic to clear and the ok to come through. It bored Isaac to tears almost. He had far better things to do back home in Crilous, higher items on his agenda then to come here on a invite. But truth be told he really had no choice, appearance had to be upheld and face kept. Some within the Senate still did not trust Crilous, still held a grudge over the way the empire had rolled over them like a rouge wave in the days of the war. Isaac had to quell the storm before it even got started. Things were bad enough without another war threatening.

When at last clearance was given and the Stone of Tears docked, Isaac left the ship, with six of his personal guards in tow. Each he had worked his gift on and each he had given a special ability to aid in their protection of his life. He chose only the best and loyal to guard his life.
He entered the Crilousion Palace on King’s row to servants bowing and wishing him welcome. He paid them no mind and instead headed straight for the main gate. A carriage waited there, no horses to draw it but instead a motor driven carriage salvaged from a Crilousion junk yard and set to working by Isaac’s own hand. He enjoyed working with the machines of the old kingdom. There was a calming simple ness to them. They were designed to do a job and everything about them was built to do that job perfectly, no messy add ons needed. He stopped before the carriage, thought a moment before he smiled. He looked back at his guard and gave them a nod. “I think I’ll walk today, get out among the people and see what the common life is like.”
His guard nodded and fell into place as Isaac started toward the main gate to the street. Yes a walk would do nicely, he decided.

"You want me to steal that piece of junk?" Eli asked, tossing the picture of a motor-driven carriage back to the man in a rich suit.

"Not the carriage ma'am, the cargo in the carriage." he said, putting the picture back down and pointing to the side of the carriage. Eli looked at where he was pointing and saw a blond man.

"You want me to kidnap that guy?" she asked, not knowing his royal heritage. "Look, sir, I don't know what you've been told, but I don't kidnap people. I'll steal whatever you like, but you'll have to go elsewhere for kidnapping." she said.

"I'm offering generous compensation." the man added, throwing down a fair amount of currency. Eli's eyes widened at the money.

"That's quite a bit of money, sir" she said in awe.

"Do we have a deal?" he asked.

That had been a week ago. Now, Eli was camped outside of the gates that had the carriage parked inside. It wasn't long before the man from the photo walked through the gate with a body guard behind him 's**t, that man never said anything about guards...' Eli silently grumbled. Eli walked forward, following him, trying to seem like she was headed somewhere. She was gaining on him, but she had no idea what she was going to do once she got to him, it wasn't like she'd be able to just snatch him with a body guard there.

Isaac walked down the street of King’s row and at the corner took a left heading for the upper city bazaar and open air market. Maybe a little shopping and a walk through the open air market would do him some good. He didn’t need to be at the Senate for another hour anyway. There was time. He watched the people who were out and about and as he often did, wondered at their lives. What did they do, where did they live, was there a special someone waiting at home maybe even with children? These kinds of questions interested him to no end, made him want to see what passed as a normal life without the shady dealings of politics. Politics, HA! Now there was a funny word. To hold talks for the betterment and the interests of the people so was the definition of this word but not once had Isaac ever seen such character in the Senate chambers. Most politicians were to busy worrying about their image, money and the enforcement of their personal views on others to even give thought to what was best for the common man.
He walked over to a stall selling jewelry and traced his fingers along some of the pieces, knowing them to be largely fake and smiling a secret smile to see many of the more wealthier women buying the jewels unaware. ‘Brains and a education in minerals and rare ores would serve them better then their money.’ He thought to himself and moved on. He came to a wheeled cart selling honeyed bread and noted several children eyeing the treat. Walking up to the cart he ordered a dozen and then passed them out among the children, his guard standing at his back like a watchful stone statue, cold faced and grim. This startled several of the children and once they were gone Isaac turned on the man and commanded he smile and try to look pleasant so as not to scare people. The guard tried and the smile somehow made him look more dangerous. Isaac gave up with a sigh and a throw of his hands into the air in defeat before telling him never mind before moving on.
He was in the middle of looking over a fine Larsa rug when his guard stepped close and tapped his shoulder. “Sir, we are being fallowed.” The man whispered in thick old Crilousion a almost dead language these days.
Isaac smiled and showed no signs that anything was amiss. “Oh? Who and how long?”
He clicked his tongue once and the guard rolled his head on his shoulder to pop his neck and Isaac didn’t miss the direction the head roll pointed in. He didn’t look that way but instead turned back to the rug. One click, one person and the direction of the head roll pointed to a girl.
“I think the carriage driver at the gate was a bit upset that you didn’t ride.” The guard spoke. “It looked like it might rain today but I told him I would see to it that you did not get wet so no worries.”
Isaac nodded picking out the code perfectly. One girl had been fallowing them since the Crylous palace gate on King’s row. The guard wanted to know if he should deal with the girl now or not. Isaac smiled. He had trained this one well. All the info he needed passed along to him without doing anything that might raise the alarm for their little guest fallowing along in their foot steps. Isaac ran a hand over the rug before smiling. “Leave it be for now, see what comes our way.” He spoke and the guard nodded, getting the code. Leave the girl alone for now, let her make her move so they could see what she was up too.

Kailey had woken up that morning to the sounds of a theatre troupe on her street. She smiled, as she dressed and washed to the sounds of their music. Feeling rather lazy this morning, she pulled her changing curtain around herself and merely snapped to put on her dress. Then sat on her bed to lace up her boots. Gently placing one dagger (sheathed) in each boot. She braided her hair into a long French braid and smiled at her reflection in the looking glass.

Waving to her brother Carter, she held the hem of her dress as she ran toward her stable and her horse. When she reached it, there he was. Her trustworthy, reliable horse; Shadow Star. Strong, black, and rather tall, he was envied by others. Many offered her thousands for him. But she wouldn't trade him away for the world. As she mounted his saddled back, she rode him out and into town.

She took a right when she reached the main square in town. Heading towards the upper city bazaar. She was in desperate need of some basic potion ingrediates that she was lacking in. Mostly for her healing and comfort potions. She reached the bazaar, and one of the shop keepers called to her "Kailey! Would you like your usual?" It was Evan, the tea maker. She always stopped for tea in the morning. She nodded as she jumped off her horse. "I would love some Evan sweetie." She said as he blushed. Evan definatly had a thing for her, it made her smile. "No charge Lee." He said smiling. She tied her horse to a pole, and walked over to him and took the cup from his hand. "Thank you Evan." She said smiling.

Eli breathed deeply, trying to figure out how to separate the guard from her target. She glanced around at the stalls around them. Rugs, jewels, he'd looked at those before. She looked down the road, seeing a tea stand with a horse tied next to it, a cart that was selling various types of fruit, and a stall that was selling more jewelry. It wasn't much to work with, but she was sure that she could figure it out, all those years of training with Gray weren't for nothing.

She sped up, aiming to go around the two that she'd been following. 'The tea stand, I'll head for the tea stand.' she thought as she came up behind the guard. She grabbed some money from her pocket, ready to buy some tea, it would give her time to think of her next move. She'd known that the man that she'd made the deal with didn't have good intentions for the man. Her thoughts suddenly flashed back to when the man had bought all of the children honeyed bread. She looked to the ground as she passed the guard. Guilt wasn't a good quality to have when you were a hand for hire. 'Why would someone want to hurt a good man?' she thought, never once considering that he was Crilousion royalty. She knew that he'd come from the Crylous Palace, but had figured that he was an official visiting the royal.

She made her way quickly to the stand. "I would like a green tea, please." she said, putting her money down. It was only then when she noticed that the man was busy. She waited patiently. Luckily, she didn't have to wait long as the tender already had green tea ready. "Thanks" she said, walking off and telling him to keep the change.

She now had a plan, she just had to figure out how to execute it.

When no real moves were made on the part of the girl, Isaac started to think that maybe she was just a tail, someone hired to fallow them and watch them. The Republic of United Kingdoms and her lady queens had been doing that for years after all. They didn’t care much for Crilous. Then the other hand Adel was just as bad about their spying. Isaac sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, there was just too many possibilities and way to many that didn’t like or trust him at the current moment to even start to guess at who the girl was working for. He turned to his guard and asked the one thing that would take his mind from this whole mess. “Has the artifact from the Leister dig been delivered to my Senate office yet?”
The guard thumbed the small radio in his ear and spoke for a few minutes to someone on the other end. After getting his answer the guard turned to Isaac and nodded. “It’s in your volt sir.” The guard paused then spoke again, though this time a bit cautiously. “Is it really wise to take that thing into a room of high ranking people?”
Isaac shrugged and started walking. “It’s contained within a glass sphere so it can’t be touched. There shouldn’t be any danger. Though in order to get the ok of the Senate to move forward with my plans I must show it to them and prove that my words are true.”
He shifted his eyes ever so slightly to the left looking for a second at the girl fallowing them. What was she up to he wondered for a moment.

Kailey shrugged at Evan as the girl walked in and quickly back out. "I've gotta go. Thanks again!" She said running out. Mounting her horse she saw Issac Ry'hal walking down King's row. As well as the girl who ran out of the tea shop, seeing full well who she was now. Eli, master thief. She's heard of her. She didn't say anything to her, just rode by.

She came to her second stop of the day. The market. She needed fruits, and some vegetables. She retied Shadow to a tie post, and walked into the market. She picked up, a few mangoes, guavas, and some zucchini for her potions. She paid for the produce and walked back out to her horse. She looked at the street, where Issac was, with his cluster of guards. She mounted her horse and rode up to his side. Knowing full well it wasn't the safest thing to do. "My name is Kailey. I am from the Lachlan family. I mean no harm." She stated flatly to the guards, and turning her attention to the prince. "Would you like a ride my prince? I fear as if today is not a day to be walking." She asked him. "Or at least ride in your carriage my liege." Kailey warned.
