I did say this in my introduction post but I'll say it again just because I can ^^ I like to write because I love to read and I wanted to tell stories like those I admire.

I figured I wouldn't be the only one who liked to read hence this thread.

My all-time favorite writer is Stephen King. I haven't read all of his books but I will. I also like Sir A. C. Doyle for the awesome Sherlock Holmes he created (and I have already read all Sherlock Holmes books). Right now I just discovered Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer and the Blood Books by Tanya Huff. I'm obsessed with them. I'm even reading Artemis Fowl again.

So, anything you'd want to say?

I'm personally a fan of vintage sci-fi. I consider geniuses like Frank Herbert, Issac Asimov, and Robert Heinlein to be my teachers. Many things that I love about reading and writing come from them.

I've read every book in the Dune series, and many of Herbert's other books. I robot and Stranger in a Strange Land are some of my other favorites.

I'm a big fan of murder mysteries. My favorite series is The Cat Who by Lilian Jackson Braun. My favorite book out of the series is either The Cat Who Saw Stars, or The Cat Who Talked Turkey. They both refer to the mysterious origin real detective of the story, a Simese called Koko. The one thing you need to know about Koko is: He's psychic. Seriously.

My other favorite books are Francis Mayes memoirs about living in Italy. Her first book on it was Under the Tuscan Sun. Yes, the book the movie was made about, and lemme tell ya, the recipies in these books are AMAZING. My favorite are her roasted vegetable recipes, which should be made with fresh veggies, but we don't have many these days.

I'm also writing my own novel, though I'm keeping it under wraps for now. I don't think it'll get very famous though...

Ooh, ooh. Did you hit a sore spot on this one. Books happen to be my obsession. At the moment, I'm in the middle of three. Two of my own, and one for school.

Number One:
The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. Is my current sci-fi read, which I would have to say, I'm absolutely obsessed with. I adore his writing style, not to mention I'm a freak for twists on classic stories. And as you've probably guessed, this one tweaks the story of Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll. It tells the true story of Alyss Heart, daughter to Queen Guinevere (also known as the Queen of Hearts.) who escapes her horrible Aunt Redd's wrath by falling through the Pool of Tears. I highly recommend it, and once you finish the first one. Read the second, which I haven't read yet which is called Seeing Redd.

Number Two:
House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo. This one, I do like a lot but am not as into as the previous. It's the first in the "Dreamhouse Kings" Series, which is as you probably assumed is a horror series. This one starts out with a family moving into a haunted house (typical I know.) but this house isn't haunted by ghosts, just paranormal happenings that all leads to a horrible fate that also is in the prologue. As Xander and his little sister Toria discover the abnomalities, they have to find a way to save their mother. Will they do it!? I don't know yet... But if you like this one check out the sequel Watcher in the Woods.

Number Three:
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder is the book I need to read for my Christology class in school. This book features Doctor Paul Farmer, a man who finds his calling outside of his sheltered life to bring medicines to those whom need it most. Which takes the reader from a Harvard classroom to Haiti, Peru, Cuba and Russia as Farmer changes minds of the people through his actions. (I know, can you tell its for a Theology class?) I'm not really into this one at all, I've read at least seven like this since I started at my school, and it gets old. But I have to admit, it has a wonderful plot. And I recommend it if you're in the mood for an inspirational read.

Wooh! That was a mouthful, sorry about all the writting. I love to recommend books. I feel as if people should love them as much as myself. And as you can probably see, I don't really have a preference on genre. It depends on my mood. I adore the Artemis Fowl series, I think I read them twice. But I also love The Tao of Pooh and anything my Laura Ingles Wilder. Ohhh, I love books...

Well, I saw it in Border's and Barnes and Noble. But when I picked it up I was with my brother, who already had it and told me to put it back. But I did see it at both stores.

And did you seriously read my entire rant on all of the books I'm reading?!

Yup, Alabama. smile There's no such thing are Borders in my town, which really dissapoints me because I visited one in Texas and it was the most spectacular place I've ever been in. So... many... BOOKS! @.@

I don't expect anyone to read anything I write either XD But that's mostly because I'm a very ignorable person... >.>

Oof! Alabama!? I didn't know people actually live there. Wow..
And yes! Border's is one of my favorite places in the entire world. =)

Awwww. That's sad. I usually don't get ignored, but when I do long posts people are like 'WHOA THATS A LOT OF TEXT'
PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 6:14 pm

My reaction is the same when I run across people from Alabama on my other sites. I half expect them to be people I know from school. In fact, one of them WAS someone I knew when I was in middle school. And she was reading one of my fanfics sweatdrop That... was akward. But we're pretty tight now, like we used to be.

It mostly happens when I'm in places where people are rich. I'm not rich at all, and it shows, so I'm ignored. That's why I spend most of my time in the Word Games forum. That way people HAVE to pay attention to me... most of the time, at least.

Hahahaha really? I just get really excited when someone is from Rhode Island. Cause its so tiny, that I'm like "OMG. IM FROM RI TOO!" & I can see that awkwardness..-shiver-.

Awww, that stinks..most people just find me fun to talk to I guess?
PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 6:28 pm

I get excited because Alabama is literally a hick state. The jokes about us changing the value of pi to 3 instead of 3. whatever is a good example of how my town works, though they'd never do something like that due to lawsuits.

Well, I'm certainlly finding you fun to talk to! =)
