A young woman, petite and tan, ran from a large tent in the center of the small nomad camp. Her long raven black hair flew behind her, the three feathers entwined in it weaving in and out of the hair. She wore a simple borwn dress with mocassins. A black string of fabric was tied around her left upper arm and on her left wrist was a dark blue beaded bracelet. On her belt was a white and blue face mask with cat ears. She turned and hid behind the side of the tent, seeming to wait, her moss green eyes were filled with energy and vibrant. A few moments later a young man ran out of the tent, a bow slung across his back broad back. As son as he came out, back to her, she smiled and jumped. She hit him square on the back and they both tumbled forward. For a few moments the two were nothing but a rolling mass of tangled limbs. Then they stopped and the man had her pined down. She screamed and squirmed, drawing attention from the villagers. They just shook their heads and returned to their tasks. Her scream quickly became laughter as he began tickling her. When she begge him to stop he did and stood, then helped her up. "I can't keep lettnig you beat me! It's no fair! You're so much bigger than me!" She exclaimed, punching him in his chest. He laughed, the hit not even bothering him. "Little Fox, size doesn't matter in a fight, skill and discipline is what matters." He scolded, though jokingly. The woman, Fox, sighed. "Yea yea, discipline and skill, size doesn't matter, yadda yadda ya, i've only heard it a thousand times. And don't call me little you big brute! I'm older than you are!" She exclaimed. He shook his head a laughed. "Only by a month, and besides, you don't even look like your old enough to hunt." He shot back. She hit him for that and they both laughed. "Come now Fox, let's get your bow and go hunt. I convinced your father to let me take you hunting, though i promised we wouldn't go too far." He said. She squeeled and hugged him. "You're the best Bear!" She exclaimed,d running into the tent. A few moments passed and she reappeared, bow on back. "Okay! What are we waiting for! Let's go!" She said, skipping off through the camp. He sighed and walked after her.

Bear had caught up to Fox and the two ran thru the forest, silent. They stopped and began following the trail of a family of deer. After a while of tracking they lost it. Fox sighed and looked around. "Hey Bear, why don't you got that way, and I'll go this way since the trail splits, I promise I'll stay within shouting distance." She said. Bear stood and looked at her. "Okay." He said after a moment. "But be careful, and if you hear or see anything, whistle." He said. Fox beamed and nodded, taking off in the direction she said she' be going. She knew better than to get out of shouting range, and they whistled a robin's call every two or three minutes too make sure they were still close. She walked along, admiring everything. She barely got out of the village, and when it was, she wasn't given this much free reign unless Bear took her. She was his weakness, the one of little few he had, and she was his biggest one. They'd grown up together, and, rumors said, he was going to ask her to take his hand in marriage during his Creation Ceremony. She had to admit, she knew she probably wouldn't say no. She liked him too, and many times, she'd wanted to go further with their relationship. But attraction isn't allowed to be shown past friendship until after the two are to be wedded. She stopped and knelt down, picking a blue flower from a bed of weeds.

Fox stood, slipping the flower into her hair and began to walk again. After a few minutes she came upon the family of deer. She knelt down and whistled a pure loud whistle. The five deer perked up and tensed, about to jump. She quickly shushed them. "Shh. I'm a friend, I mean no harm." She said soothingly. The deer relaxed a little and looked at her. "Come here, I need a favor." The deer stepped forward, walking slowly up to her. She pet one and smiled. "I need your help. Winter is coming, and my people need food. Will you please help me feed them. You won't live, but your sacrifice will be great, and I'll let your fawns and your pregnant doe go. You're a big enough stag to feed at least three or four families." She said. The great stag bowed his head then nudged the two fawns and the doe. The three ran off and the stag stayed. She placed her hand on it's neck. "I promise you it won't hurt. You're doing a great service." She said. Then the stag lay down and closed it's eyes and it was dead. Tears fell from her eyes and she stroked it's neck. "I'm sorry." She whispered.

Fox jumped as Bear came running up behind her. "Fox! Are you ok-" He began then stopped, seeing her with the deer. "Oh Fox." She said quietly, kneeling next to her and putting an arm around her, pulling her close, trying to comfort her. "Fox it's okay. But your father told you not to use your powers, someone could see you." he said, looking around. "Besides, that also make you upset, you know we don't like you upset." Fox said nothing just curled next to him. He sighed and stood, taking her wrist. "Come on Fox, lets get him back before he spoils. And if that happens his death was a waste." He said. Fox nodded and dried her tears, helping him pick up the deer.

Bear insantly had a dagger outward, pointed at him then pulled it back a little. Fox jumped and moved closer to Bear. This guy, she'd never seen him before. Bear surveyed him, sized him up. "Um, sure." He said. Fox looked at Bear, then at the new man and stepped around Bear, to his other side. After a moment's hesitation she slipped her small hand into Bear's large one. "If you could get that end, we just need to take it back to the village, about a mile back." He said.

Bear shrugged and let the Stag gently on the ground. "Go ahead." He said. he was becoming wary of the new man. he looked at Fox and tightened his grip on her hand, pulling her closer. She was still crying, though not as much and silently, and she was shaking. The magic she'd used must have drained her. "You okay?" He asked quietly. She nodded, looking up at him. He met her eyes and smiled. She was exhausted from using her magic and the guilt she felt at killing the deer. he sighed and picked her small self up, cradling her. She didn't protest like she usually did, only sighed and lay her head against his chest and closed her eyes, not letting his hand go.
