I have read that the film rights to gears of war have been optioned to New Line Cinema, and the script is being written by Stuart Beattie ( Collateral, Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl are two example of movies he written the scripts for). The games design director, Cliff Blezinski is serving as the executive producer.
