There's a lot of cool stuff out there: Hellsing, When They Cry, and Elfen Lied are some good horror shows. There's also many different genres like magical girl series, sci-fi, action, comedy, daily life, harem etc. I really got into Sailor Moon when I was younger. Also Project A-ko, Akira, and Tenchi Muyo were some movies and series I started out with.
