Amako Sterling Whitaker
The name continued to ring in Izach's head, after days of research he finally found the location of the girl who's writings had caught his eye a month back. It seems he wasn't the only one interested in the use of Yorva stones, and to top it off she was interested in potion craft and Alchemy as well. Papers ranging from "Yorva Laws Unseen" depicting the possible varribles in crystals based on size, even the mysterious Graviga crystal! To articles like "Balancing The Mind: The Use of Alchemy to Cure The Mind" perfect work for reliving the stress he was about to place on others with IceLand.
It was all almost to much, too perfect, but that was the point, after so much searching he had finally found someone who seemed to be onto the same train of thought he was. With out another thought he had packed up and took the first airship to Erasmus.
Now to find her residence...
He had asked around, but he found the streets were getting barren, the sky showed signs of a storm and he had no intention of being caught in it right before such an important meeting.
Clutching a rough sketch of her he had taken from a brief biography and a few random directions he continued to wander the streets trying to find the brilliant minded girl.

Oh, yes, she could still remember her experiments with the Graviga crystals as if it were just yesterday! Miraculous things, really-- and so useful, too! Professor Tweed had been so surprised that day to see half the lab clean and spotless after the fact!
... Not to mention altogether missing in a crater-like void of NOTHINGNESS thanks to a little accidental puncturing-- but hey, at least no one had been hurt and it left plenty of room for some lovely new renovations, right?
Digressing from that, however, it as a lovely pre-winter's day in the working and industrial quarters of Erasmus as Ammy sat delightfully near the front window (... which was duct-tacted for some odd reason) of her home and laboratory building, humming a sweet, cheerful tune as she held her latest vial of bubbly blue-violet mystery liquid over a burner and watched it turn marvelous colors.
It was a good day; she'd managed to wake up without Sumi accidently tripping her and had yet to fall asleep amidst her experiments... which was also good because Melvin happened to be out for a meeting and tended to react badly when he came home to smoking holes or craters. She'd never understand why; he just sort of w--
BOOM!
... O SHI--
Well it looked as if an accidental pass-out wasn't necessary to get some lively action that day as she coughed and waved the burning smog from her eyes, figuring that, yes, perhaps it was wise to fling the front entrance open and air things out before he got back.
... And the rest of the neighborhood could just ignore those ghastly billows of black smoke pouring out into their street.
(They were sadly used to it.)

Izach was sure that the girl could be found roughly in the industrial quarter. He was in the right place after all the directions he had gathered all guided him to this one street. Glancing at the papers in hand he started to rethink his steps.
Perhaps I should go b- BOOM!
The ground didn't shake, but the sound sent him stumbling forward and spinning about to spot the source behind him. A cloud of thick black smoke oozed out the windows of a near by building.
If it was one thing Izach knew, it was that a boom like that and smoke that thick was always the sign of invention and science gone astray. Perhaps he was in the right place after all?
Quickly he ran to the door of the building knocking quickly on the door, it didn't even occur to him the place might be on fire from that explosion, all he cared about was persuing his goal.
All risks were worth it in the name of science after all.

Oh, to call her workings "an invention gone astray" was putting it lightly; no, little did Izach know that he was about to encounter Disaster Incarnate... but one couldn't say he hadn't been warned with that explosion beforehand.
After all, anyone sane would have been turning tail and running VERY QUICKLY IN THE OTHER DIRECTION.
"...?" And that had been exactly what Amako expected, too, still waving smog and burning sparkly particles out of her eyes as she shoved a wedge in the door to keep it propped and-- ... ohae, there was someone had just tried to knock on it and, had she not ducked slightly to one side right then (visibility was horrible in a cloud of FAIL smoke), Izach could have easily given her an accidental punch in the snout.
"Oh, hello?" They were already standing more or less face to face when the blackness thinned a bit, and the oddly pale (and ash-smeared) koshka blinked in a moment of befuddlement... and then smiled happily.
Some odd Mench salesman come to visit and peddle products, perhaps?
"Are you in need of something, good Sir?"

Disaster Incarnate would be a title that would fit well with Izach, granted it applied regardless. If it worked it could typically cause chaos, if it didn't work, it created uncontrolled chaos with no control at all! Provided that was the intention of said device.
In his rush though he hardly noticed the open door till his hand missed nearly clipping the Koshka girl on the head. Still the smoke didn't bother him, though the smell was unique, certainly one he had never managed to create by accident or intentionally.
"Ah, yes, well," he cleared his throat getting some of the smoke out, "Miss Amako Whitaker? Izach Mendel, I've been looking all day for this little place, and you actually." He glanced up at the smoke, "Experiment gone wrong I assume?"

Whoa whoa whoa, hold the phone just a second there, buddy! Izach sure had cut right to the heart of the conversation (and assumed a hell of a lot of information) at once which, despite Ammy's chipper demeanor, still managed to throw the girl momentarily off kilter, taking another second's pause to blink and study her strange new guest.
... Uh. Okay, so, how did one deal with this kind of situation, again?
"Oh, no no, nothing of the sort!" Where any normal person would've been flabberghasted and hammering him with questions like why did you just assume I was this person? and what were you hunting me down for?, she just smiled and brushed past ALL of it, waving her hand. "I'd call it more of an experimental success with unpleasant after effects, really..."
Yes, like smoke and stench and ash all over her face, but hey, it could all be remedied with a good scrubby sponge and open doors!
"... So, Mister Izach Mendel... uh... would you like to come i-- ... actually, that might be a little unpleasant right now." AWKWARD PAUSE OF AWKWARD THOUGHT. "I'm sorry, I think the lab needs to reoxygenate for a little while before it's inhabitable again... Can I help you otherwise?"

So it might be a LITTLE stalker-ish to do some back reading on a person, even more so when you just happen to show up on their door step claiming to have been looking for them. Knowing they do science and assuming they caused an explosion due to a testing. Okay well, it WAS stalkerish, but he didn't have time for messaging ahead! Time was running out and so was funding.
"Nothing of the sort?" Leaning in ever so slightly into the haze of darkness he gave a deep sniff and a slight cough at the strong smoke. "... I suppose most projects do indeed have some unpleasant side effects."
"Oh I understand, I do really!" He sighed gently rubbing his forhead muttering in a slightly less chipper tone now, "A remember a month or so back a rather risky venture with a newly acquired Firaga crystal, I tried to shave it down my self... amazing how much work can burn up in the half second it takes to make a slight puncture in the stone..."
Oh what kind of talk was that, this would not do at all!
"I'm sorry forgive my ramblings," his tone picking up again as he reached into the pack strapped to his leg pulling out a few of the pages from her most recent work. "I came looking for you to discuss your work actually. I was hoping we could have a talk about it?"

... Oookaaay, so Mr. Quite Possibly Dangerous Stalker Blonde was asking her out to discuss her work? Well, once again, any normal person would've been arching brows and just furthering their suspicion-- but not Ammy. Oh no, she just smiled and bobbed her head in a cheerful nod.
"Firaga crystals are terribly finicky things; the professor doesn't let me have them often, sadly... " Yeah, probably because she'd very nearly BURNT THE LAB DOWN on several occasions beforehand! "But oh, oh, certainly-- hold on just a moment, if you could..."
With that she suddenly turned and plunged out of sight (if only because of the thick smoke) for a full minute, the sound of rattling closets and cabinets and God Only Knew What piping up--
And then reappearing just as suddenly with, oddly enough, a white and red parasol in hand, pulling it open as soon as she stepped outside. Did she expect rain or something, perhaps?
"Where shall we go to discuss, then?"

"Oh not finicky, just..." he paused trying to decide what word would best be suited to describing his few of the firey little stones. "More so they pack a punch if you ahhh, make minor mistakes." He shrugged, "Regardless I got a very good lesson on the process of stopping and adding valves to the stones!"
His head tilted slightly as she ventured back into the smog, though moments latter the girl returned with a parasol? He glanced back up to the sky, it was dark, but the threat for rain wasn't that bad it seemed. Oh well, better safe then sorry no?
"Perhaps somewhere to get a drink or bite to eat? I'm afraid I don't know this place quiet well, I usually have parts shipped from here rather then personal pickups."

"Oh, you're foreign to the island?..." It was a vaguely surprised sounding question, one pale silver-white brow quirking a bit before she chuckled and waved it off (with more smoke of course), giving the door wedge a last look to make sure it'd stay open (... was she seriously leaving her workspace full of VERY EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS products OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?!) before hopping off the step, giving her ashy pants a little dusting off and...
.........
And starting off down the road at a cheerful skip, parasol over his shoulder and tail wagging like some overjoyed dog.
"Come along, then; I know just the place!" Just the place for what? Where was sh-- were they going!? "There's a lovely diner not too far from here beside a park they keep exceptionally well tended. There should still be a few flowers there, even during this time of year... Good atmosphere for a chat, I always thought..."
Uuuh, and why did they need flowers to talk about science, now?

Nodding he could only shrug, "Dunwich is where I'm from so I'm a bit farther inland then here." He glanced at the open door quirking an eyebrow, leaving her lab open? Everyone around here was either very trustful or this couldn't possibly be her main workshop.
"Alright then!" ignoring the open door, (and the temptation to take a quiiiick peek into the smokey room) he followed along behind her. "Anywhere would work really, what ever suites your taste."
Flowers? Really?
Obviously her work with the environment and near by flowers could surely be an interesting topic after all? Either way it would serve well enough for a chat about her work and his plans, hopefully they served a good cup of coffee were ever this was.

"Mmm, Dunwich, I've heard that's a lovely place..." Yes, heard, because of course she'd never set foot in such a place and trying to do so would've gotten her skinned like a c-- ... yeah, bad pun, but it drove the point home.
"Though I've also heard it's rather unfriendly to 'my kind' for some odd reason," she added, perfectly sweet and innocent and (seemingly) altogether clueless. "I'm not quite sure what that means, but apparently it's a very large city and a little rough on the ears..."
That was another good point, actually; inevitable public lynching aside, all the gears and noise/air pollution of a Mench metropolis had to be pretty hard on the average Koshka, huh?
"But never mind that; it's really a wonderful little place-- the park, I mean. Fuzzy blue and purple blossoms in the spring-- some rose bushes in the warmer months too..."
Yeeeah, environmental sciences. Suuuure.

"Well I'm sure if you ever wanted to visit I could find a spare room to put you up in, if anyone has a problem with that I'm sure we can convince them otherwise about chasing you out. After all you are respectable doctor."
He frowned at the latter statement, first off seeming clueless but it all seemed to click with her comment on noise. "Ah it does get a bit loud, nothing some ear plugs or muffs can't handle?"
Continuing on he listened to her talk of the place they soon would eat and discuss in more detail the fine points of science. "Yes, lovely flowers it sounds like..." he mumbled following along behind her.
She seemed okay, but something just wasn't right... what could it be?
