Oh and that reminds me. The Discovery Channel had some really interesting shows on last Sunday where they went over some of the things in the Bible and showed scientifically how they might have happened. It was really well done.

The one thing I really hate though is the false dichotomy that some people feel compelled to set up. Example: If the shroud of Turin is a fraud then all of Christianity is fraudulent. Um no...no more than all of Evolutionary theory was fraudulent because Dawson's Dawn Man was a fraud.

Other than a couple of things like that I thought what I saw of all three shows was really worth watching. They debunked the debunking of the Shroud, which really surprised me. They haven't proven it is as old as it'd need to be but they did demonstrate contamination of the sample that was tested for C14.

Personally none of these things have any real bearing on my faith, they are mere points of interest. To me it is just as miraculous for God to have set up conditions in the physical world, which He created, to do what He wants done at a specific time as it is for Him to reach down His hand. In fact to me it makes more sense, I mean if God created the physical world, why can't He use it to do His will. Taking it one step farther, He would use it to affect changes He wanted, after all He set up the system, He knows how to make it do what He wants.

But that's just me and I know there are many out there who feel very strong affirmations of their faith by such relics as the Shroud of Turin. And more power to them.

The Shroud of Turin is supposed to be one of the most holy relics possessed by the Catholic Church. It is reputed to be the actual burial shroud of Jesus Christ. There are some mysteries involved with it that I thought had been debunked but as it turns out, the debunking was debunked by the same scientists who did the debunking in the first place.

Couldn't agree more. God made nature and works through it.

And, most of the so-called Christian things that get debunked are Catholic in origin. I am not saying Catholics believe in all fairy tales: obviously not if they believe in Christ and his resurrection - but many odd things have snuck their way in as the clergy tried to convert the masses. These odd things are easily debunked. And, because non-Christians tend to not distinguish between the Christian religions, to debunk one myth is to challenge all of the Christian religions.
