I'm placing this thread here not for criticism of the movie of any sorts, but focusing in on its brand of justice, as a vehicle of thought for the basis of this discussion that I imagine will grow out of this thread.

What are your thoughts on divine justice, and messengers of God in the form of men dealing out His will, even if it seems rather vengeful or violent? Do you believe that God would honestly want good men to not be indifferent, but instead actively pursue and destroy that which is evil in the eyes of God, or his word as we know it?

This isn't just only for a Christian discussion. Suppose that for the sake of discussion other gods charged their followers to destroy evil as they may define it?

This may not be so hot the discussion, but I just thought I'd throw it out to get some new religious backed themes going.

This is one of my husbands favorite movies.

Now, the basic idea is the old saying that "Evil flourishes when good men do nothing" Which basically states that if you see someone doing, in your god's eyes, an evil or reproachful act you should stop them, or attempt to stop them. I never say this as saying that you should kill the perpetrator of the act, just interrupt the act itself. The brothers in the film took this saying too far. They did honestly believe that they had been sent on a mission from god and that what they were doing was what their god wanted them to do. But really all that is needed and what I believe the movie was trying to get across is that unless people begin to stand up then they will continually be trampled by those who don't care. There will always be people out to take advantage of those arround them but when a community makes an effort to protect itself from such people or orginizations change can happen.

I really hop that made sense, if not I'll be back to attempt to answer any questions.

I've just got to the part where the two brothers fell through the ventilation shaft and killed the (9) Russian Mafia guys, and scared the crap out of their friend the "funny guy", I LOLed so hard it almost turned into a ROFL. still watching it in ten min. intervuls on youtube. crying

Maybe not kill them, but disable them, i.e. take a leg, arm, tongue, etc. (I think I said that somewhere else already.... hmmmm.)

I'm all for 'em. I think we need people like that, i.e. those of us who push the envelope but don't break the thread type of thing. If robbers and murderers are afraid then I would feel safer. I myself have plenty of protection in my house, and not to use them, but in the hopes that i never will. It's like a guy who carries around intercourse protection

Are you talking about a condom or a shotgun? (sorry, I'm in silly-mode right now)
