You know the type. Have more suits than there are months in a year, more money than we minimum wage survivors could dream of and preach a message only to fundamentalists and the all ready "saved."
Is there some good in them? Do their messages honestly have meaning? Are some of them honest men or women that do have honest hopes and desires to save others? Might their shows actually open up and serve a purpose if someone but tunes in to listen? Just how corrupt do we believe they honestly are?

I'd like to believe that there are a least a handful of televangelists that are sincere in what they do. Since "money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:20), I doubt that every televangelist can withstand the temptations of hoarding away their earnings.
Think about this: if every televangelist would only spend what they needed to in order to survive, how many homeless people would be given a chance to better their standard of life? How many young children would be fed? Of course, we're all guilty of spending our money on needless things without a thought about how many people in the world are dying for a small bite of food.
I guess we won't fully know what their true intentions are...some of them, though, seem like they're only doing it for the money, which severely tarnishes what an evangelist stands for. Their credibility is questionable...which probably causes more harm than good for christianity in general. So many people doubt the sincerity of christians, anyways.
In all fairness, televangelists are only human....though they're in the spotlight, which makes it easier for us to point at their wardrobe and question, "How many suits do they really need?" and make such statements as: "They look like they get paid way too much." and question: "I wonder if they're sincere?" I guess it's a tough "job" to do.
Great topic, btw. It really makes you start thinking...

My dad told quoted someone to me, though I don't know who it was, anyway:
"You can have a devil in the pulpit, but angels in the pews." I think i t means that if you have a corrupt preacher, if he is giving the correct message, the congregation isn't necessarily corrupt as well. The quote came up when dad told me about a televangelist who had solid gold plumbing fixtures installed in his house. mrgreen

solid gold plumbing?!?!?!?!?! It's understandable because he has holy crap. xd
I think that some of them do it because they like to and they think it's a good thing to do, but others might be doing it for the money.

It's absolutely repulsive. But I don't blame monetary greed on people; I blame monetary greed on the market we are in.
