So this Christmas I got a squishy ball with a net around it that when you squish it it will get pushed through the net and change color.(damn that was long) My sister (older) was playing with it and she did something or other and now it won't go back through the net, and I had to spend like half an hour(yes, that's a long time for me) to put it back the way it was with minimal damage.
Why is it that the cooler something is the faster it gets broken by playing with it to much. this happens with everything, my fiberglass lightsaber got broken because me and my friends are stupid, my lavalamp got broken from me touching it and finding out that is gets really hot, and flailing my arms around and knocking it over onto the ground. (stuff is super hard to clean out of carpet) It makes me so mad, I mean come on, even if it's not $1-store brand it still breaks. They need to make these things out of more durable material so that it doesn't break so easily.

The cool things as that generally get broken for the reasons you mentioned above. I think, being older individuals, we should know that the cool toys aren't really ones meant to be played with a whole lot, period. That way their awesomeness is always there. What can you do aye? Perhaps they're designed that way so once broken, you're forced to buy another, and another, until the next cool thing comes out that costs even more and before you know it, you're hooked and spending money that could and should be going elsewhere. But buying something here or there isn't bad. I personally dig lava lamps. They're aesthetically pleasing. I wish I had one or two now, but I have no room in here for 'em without them being a serious fire hazard, haha.

The companies that make the stuff make it flimsy so you buy another.

The more you use something the more chance there is for it to brake. Objects with moving parts are also at higher risk. I wish they still used metal to make toys. Every once in a while it might get bent but mostly it could withstand the attentions of a child.
Every lava lamp you get from now on is going to be more durable than that first one, because, now, you know how hot they are and won't casually touch them again. mrgreen
