I did not vote Obama.
I didn't vote McCain either.
Yes, I did vote.
Anyway...how do you feel about our new President?
I will admit, I'm extremely happy about our first black president, it's a huge step.

Obama has sorely dissapointed me in his appointments thus far, and I do fear socialized healthcare. Plus, the guy is a pretty big hawk, as far as democrats go, anyway.
But his economic pick, especially Volcker, give me cause to be optimistic, and though what pisses me off about him is his big government ways, McCain really offered no real difference in that sense. Plus, Obama at least plans to tax for his expansion of the state.
Yeah, Obama is a tx-and- spend Democrat , but thats an improvement from the dine-and-dash republicans.

I try not to really do politics. I tried giving that up when I let my National Socialist self die out a while back. Seeing my life is affected by politics though, I suppose I should at least be mildly educated and have opinions. My idea of Obama isn't clear yet. It has no definition, but as I've stated here recently, this recenty Illinois' governor scandal and Obama's ties to it has me concerned. Not even in office and all ready getting a smeared public image. Not the best way to begin I think. I'm also with the picture slightly above. I do have an inkling of a feeling that race is going to become a social issue during his term somewhere, and that there exists the possibility that being white will be played upon somewhere, somehow with a twist. I could be wrong, but I remember the day that it happened, going to Walmart that night. A lot of blacks were out being loud and saying some odd things. Oh well, at least he gives us good jokes. The latest one I saw was "What do JFK, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama have in common? Nothing... yet."

If they were smart they won't kill him.
The hate groups would take every mistake he makes and blow it out of proportion. They would try to make it appear that a black man isn't a suitable president.
Obama must be a great president, because he is the first black man to hold that office. If he messes up or doesn't do anything memorable we won't be able to have another black president for a long, long time.
Also as we have more minorities in office the novelty should wear off.

TheMaskBehindTheMan All I can say is this:  That may be with a very small percentage of Obama voters but there are a lot of people who vote democrat no matter what, and more actual followers and true believers in him. This picture is an over exaggeration.

I wonder If Obama was white would he have won? Personally I think not. In my opinion if it wern't for Reverse Racism. Obama would have lost. And come to think of it.. If he was white why would colored people vote for him? Now lets Debate!

Jacki Kane TheMaskBehindTheMan All I can say is this: That may be with a very small percentage of Obama voters but there are a lot of people who vote democrat no matter what, and more actual followers and true believers in him. This picture is an over exaggeration. This doesn't exactly cause me to feel guilty because I'm not the one who said black people should be slaves. I was born in a time without rampant racism.

The definition of racism as I know it is hate or assumed superiority over another race. It is not limited to white power over black or anything of that sort.
Just like we can't allow people to beat on black people for being black, we can't allow people to beat on white people, either. It's still racism if it's about what race they are.

At least thats my understanding of it. That's still treating someone differently because of their race. People tend to assume "real" racism is racism directed at minorities. No: "real" racism is discriminatory statements or actions against or in favor of a particular race/numerous races. In short, it's taking a value judgment of a race and turning it into speech and actions. I have little doubt there are people in this nation who would vote according to their race. I do not believe it was a sizable amount, enough to really turn the tide, and unless someone is willing to offer up polling statistics and surveys, I retain my skepticism.

I'm not saying I feel guilty ether, but that doesn't mean that white people (as a whole) don't try to make up for it. Who do you think came up with "African American"? the answer: not a black guy. And besides white is becoming the minority, not that that will change their "I'm better than you" attitude.

Although he's not my president-elect, I did follow the election.
I think all of the candidates were disappointing in their own way, but I am a firm believer that Barack Obama will do some good while in power. The man is smart and I think he won not because he was black but that his plans for the country offered Americans change, and after Bush isn't that what everyone wants?
I'm just curious as to how Stephen Harper (Canada's Prime Minister) is going to take it all as he seemed quite happy at Bush's feet.
