Fifteen year old Ian Sparks fell in love with his thirteen-year old sister.
Now he feels he's paying the price for it, thrust from both her and the bosom of his warm, kindly home- by his own mother. What a b***h. He's left to fare for himself in the winter of 1998, scarcely old enough to get a job.

Long story short, he's a hobo now, and still pining for his sister.
Come all ye beggars, bums, derelicts and drifters; we have need of tramps, transients, vagabonds and vagrants; would some wanderer or wino come cheer young Ian up?

Story aside, this is basically just a fun roleplay for people to exercise their talent in bringing about characters in a few posts, before they decide to drift along and hitch a train ride. I'm just offering the consistency. It's a challenge to get me to know you within three pages or less! Let out your life story over a bottle of booze, whine about how your girlfriend stole your truck and ran over your dog. Just let yourself be known.

Anything goes, really; bums don't get much tail anyway. Hurr.

[Ack! Change the girl's age! When I was twelve, my brother was fifteen, and there's all sorts of incest jokes in my family! CHANGE IT!!!!!!!!!! -filps a s**t hilariously-]

Name: Murphy Madigan
Age: Fifteen
Gender: Male
Appearance: Well dressed with a top hat and long coat and a cane. The epitome of pimp. He has a silver pocket watch he wears just for show and silver rimmed glasses he doesn't need. His clothes are jet black with silver and green accents and his right eye is topaz yellow whereas his right is emerald green. He has lush, jet black hair with a green tint that just scrapes against his shoulders and falls into his eyes. He's pale, clear-skinned, and positively beautiful.
[Note! He's also gay to the max and addicted to tea.]

Ian shivered despite the warmth of the flickering fire in front of him. Mittens, with holes froming in the top already, let in the freezing snowy air; his sandy-brown hair barely reached his uncovered neck, allowing it to be battered by the wind that brushed the fire out of it's way. He was wearing thick winter pants and two shirts, but no coat- someone had stolen it from him last night, and it felt oddly cold without it. Abnormally cold. Mind-blowingly cold.
His teeth chattered in a futile effort to keep warm, and his mind fuzzed out the conversation all around him.

Murphy smirked at the new kid on the block, a cup of tea in hand. He stood in the shadows, no need for the fire all of the hobo's were sitting around - he had a very warm, very stylish jacket he'd stolen around his shoulders. He sauntered over to the cute teen and smiled at him. "Need something to warm you up?" he asked, already knowing the answer. "I've got a nice, warm bed with your name on it, kid." Murphy winked, taking another sip of his tea. He purred at the look of "What? Really? Me?" on his face. "Yes, you. And you don't need to ******** anyone to sleep in it," Murphy teased, grinning. Boy was that guy hot! Mmm, mmm! "And food, too. Straight off the stove, I'm sure." That must have got him. Now he'd have thatb cute boy wrapped around his finger. Ah, he'd missed training boys to pickpocket and steal. This one would most definitely be a fine addition to his troupe. Murphy placed a warm hand on the back of the boy's neck, blocking the wind. He offered his tea to him, tilting his head so that his topaz eye was above his emerald one. Beckoning him.

Ian jolted to when he heard someone speaking to him. He looked longingly at the coat and the tea- the coat that looked kind of like his, but newer- and when was offered, greedily took a sip. When he heard this strange man offering a bed though, and when he fondled his neck and said something about ********, well, that made Ian's hair stand on end.
"Y-y'know," he half-stammered, half muttered inbetween shivers, "I really don't swing that way." He arched his back a little in an attempt to get this man's hand off of his neck, warm though it was.

Murphy laughed right out. So the kid hadn't heard him. Or just plain wasn't listening. He maintained a firm grip on the boy's neck. "No, no, no, darling. Just because I swing that way doesn't mean you have to. Or that I want you to. No, I said you don't have to ******** anyone to sleep in that bed of mine that needs filling." He laughed again, rolling on the balls of his feet. "Jacobs just moved out and got a place of his own, so I've got an empty bed at my place now. And it's oddly quiet there now he's gone." Murphy adjusted his hand so as to keep the wind from slipping under the boy's jacket and freezing his back. "M'names Murphy, by the way. Murphy Madigan. Yours?"

"Um... Ian. Ian Sparks," he said reluctantly, hoping that Murphy hadn't heard of him. It didn't occur to him, of course, that he was in a large city, and his mother probably wanted to keep his shameful secret... just that. A shameful secret. "I, uh, would love a bed? I think?"

Murphy grinned. Oh, this was going to be so much fun. "RYUN!" Murphy yelled. A short little mousy boy, obviously no more than twelve even if he was super tiny for his age and born premature as well. "Yessir?" he said in a voice much deeper than one would expect. He had pale blonde hair, thin and feathery, capped with a typical New York newspaper boy cap of the '20s. It was a dark red, which matched his much too large jacket and both were covered completely with buttons sporting amusing, witty, or just plain insulting phrases and sometimes all three. "Go make up Jacobs' old bed, would you? And see that there's something warm to eat either now or very soon?" Ryun looked confused, but then he caught the subtle thumb-jerk of Murphy's and looked Ian over. He nodded and scurried off. Murphy turned back to Ian. He looked rather lost and a bit sheepish. I wonder why . . . Murphy thought, tilting his head to the side and staring at Ian opening and thoughtfully. Snapping out of his trance, he said, "Well, Ian, you want to be someplace warm or not?" a crooked grin plastered on his face. This Murphy character was not to be trusted. Or so said many of Murphy's own apprentices and the entirety of the police force.

Ian's eyes popped open wide, incredulous. He wasn't sure whether to be grateful or angry at the presumption that he would like a bed and that he trusted this Murphy character to any extent. It was a stretch of the imagination to think that Ian might even loan Murphy an extra penny to save his dying mum, let alone to sleep in a bed where he could find him. No matter how warm and cozy that bed might be. "Um," he started, then trailed off. "Um, why...?"

Murphy smiled, sharp, white teeth glinting in the firelight. "Come on, m'dear. I'm going give you a well-paying job, if you get good at it. I'll teach you to pickpocket properly, so you don't have to stay at my place all the time." (Surry it's short. I'm on the phone.)

Ian took a deep breath, and shook his head- mouth pinched in a frown and brows furrowed. He knew he would slap himself for it later, but he had to stick to his morals! Most of them!
"I don't steal, ever. Sorry."

Ian took a deep breath, and shook his head- mouth pinched in a frown and brows furrowed. He knew he would slap himself for it later, but he had to stick to his morals! Most of them!
"I don't steal, ever. Sorry."
Murphy looked at Ian oddly. "Boy, you're living on the streets now. It's beg or steal, and at least if you steal you can feed yourself and choose who you get money from." Murphy sighed, and rocked back on his heels. "Look, first night's free, alright? Stay at my place tonight, and you can be on your merry way tomorrow morning. There's a few places I know of that you can stay at without having to do anything you don't want to - charity homes, basically. But they're all closed for the night. Come with me, and I'll write down all the places and even give you directions if you want." He really didn't want to leave the boy there, alone, when it was highly probably he'd be attacked now that he'd refused Murphy's offer. He could just see a small group of very big guys eyeing Ian as if looking over a steak out of the corner of his eye. Murphy shivered and looked at Ian again - a much pleasanter picture.

Ian finally broke down telling himself that even if he were raped and murdered or some s**t, it wouldn't be a big change from his position now. "Alright," he said with a small sigh in his voice. "One night. Thank you."
