The Assassin's Creed

Story

August 6, 1628

The Father of Science, Galileo Galilei had been searching for an self-sustaining energy source. After seven years of research, he stumbled upon something much to his surprise.

Galileo discovered the means to create what is known as a Light Mass Bomb. An explosive weapon that coverts light into mass hundreds of times more dense than iron for just an instant, which is capable of reducing anything in its blast radius to nothing but a memory. Galileo spent the next five years perfecting his technology, however, try as he might, he as unable to duplicate it. There was but a single Light Mass Bomb, made from one of a kind materials and only good for a single use. However, one use is all it would need, for the Might Mass Bomb was capable of consuming an entire country.

Word of Galileo's invention spread among the scholars and eventually reached the ears of the English, the French, and the Vatican. All three had approached Galileo, but he refused each.

Galileo died two years later, the Light Mass Bomb cleverly hidden in his warehouse. The Vatican however tore his warehouse apart, found the Light Mass Bomb and locked it away under the Vatican city along with many other inventions of Galileo.

The word of the Light Mass Bomb not long after Galileo's death quieted down. . .

A year later, but a whisper. . .

Two years later, a breath. . .

Four years later, silence. . .

All documents of the Light Mass Bomb were virtually eliminated and no one but the Vatican knew of its existence. That is, not one but the Vatican and. . .

September 25, 2012

Uber-corporation Abstergo's researchers dug something up. . . It seemed like nothing more than a myth, but they knew better. . . They discovered hints of the Light Mass Bomb. The only problem was getting it. . . However, they had a solution!

The "Animus", a device that can recall ancestral memories buried in the user's DNA. They would next need to find individuals whom are direct ancestors of those who may have information of the Light Mass Bomb or were in some way connected. You are those someones.

You have been kidnapped, taken from your home, your family, your friends. You are being held against your will, unable to escape. Your only option is to obey, use the "Amimus" and relive your ancestors memories to obtain information that Abstergo will then use to find and retrieve the Light Mass Bomb, the most dangerous weapon of all time. A weapon, that now, in this day and age can be replicated!

The "Animus" are using an experimental system-link, that will allow you and other captives to relive your memories as one, in hope of better results.

Will you obey? Will you find the Light Mass Bomb? Will you be rescued? Or will you perish? Lose yourself in the memories of your forefathers, be held captive for your remaining years?

A young man lay motionless upon a plain white bed in a plain white room. His eyes opened slowly, and he sat up a moment later, "Ugh. . ." he groaned, looking around cautiously, "Where the hell am I?" he asked aloud, getting to his feet a little too quickly. His resting heart beat didn't adapt to the movement quickly enough, forcing him to sit back down light-headed. The young man placed his elbows on his knees, and rested his head in his hands. "Where am I. . .?"

"You are in one of many labs Abstergo Laboratories holding cells. How are you feeling Mr. Baker?" a female voice asked from a speaker in the wall in front of him.

"Who are you? Let me go!" He shouted, getting to his feet once more, staring at the speaker.

"Now, now. . . Please, calm down. You do something for us, and we'll let you go. Understand?" The voice replied.

"No! You let me go, now! You have no right holding me!" he barked angrily, clentching his hands into tight fist.

"Mr. Baker, you are in no position to negotiate. You will do what you are told, or you will never see the light of day again. You must understand the gravity of this situation. . ." The voice taunted.

The young man clentched his teeth, and crushed his fist tighter, "Fine. . . What do I have to do. . ." he said without moving his jaw.

"Much better." The voice said. The young man could feel his anger building. He would attempt to escape the first chance he got. "We'll let you out now. And please, don't try and escape. You will be shot."

The young man felt his heart sink, "Fine. . ." he sighed, as the large white door swung open. On the otherside of the door, stood a tall man with grey hair in a lab coat.

"Good evening, Seth. How do you feel?" He asked, a heavy English accent coating his words.

Seth just glared at the man. "What do I have to do. . ."

The old man smiled, "You get right to it! Good, good! Come along then." The man said, gesturing Seth along. He followed.

Sitting in the center of the glass plated room was a strange table, which looked suited the the curves of a human body. The machine was grey, with clear parts, and a couple of lights.

"Dr. Smith, please explain to Mr. Baker the use of the 'Animus'." The old man said.

The young woman, Dr Smith, nodded, "Yes, Dr. Farve." the woman turned to Seth. She seemed no more than half a dozen years older than him. "This is the 'Animus'." she said, gesturing to the machine. "The 'Animus' is a device able to recall ancestrial memories imbedded in your DNA. Please, lay down on it." Dr Smith said.

Seth hesitated, glaring from one to the other, then layed down on the 'Animus'. The device lit up, and a small screen passed over Seth's face, then stopped.

"We'll need to configure the machine. Please, follow the instructions." Dr. Smith said quietly as the machine began to hum.

Seth found himself in a empty, blue-ish space. No walls no matter how far he looked. What just happened. . . How did I get here! he thought, "Hello!?" Seth called out.

"Hello, Mr. Baker. How are you?"

"Where am I!?"

"Don't worry, this is normal. You are inside the Animus. If you would please, follow my instructions. We will not be able to contact you once you are inside a Memory, so we need to configure the 'Animus' perfectly." The woman said, tapping his fingers across a keyboard at the foot of the 'Animus'.

Dr. Smith gave Seth a series of simple task; Move your left arm. Move your right arm. Look up, look down, ect. "Alright! You're all synced up! Are you ready to enter your first memory?" Dr. Smith asked, the launch screen prepped.

"Ready as I'll ever be. . ." Seth muttered, looking around the strange blue expanse. "Alright. Prepare for launch."

In a flash, Seth became Aiden. He saw what Aiden say, he felt what Aiden felt, he did as Aiden did. It was a strange feeling. . . His actions, words, and emotions not his own, but some elses. As strange as this was. . . He couldn't help but think. . . This was actually kind of cool!

Aiden marched down a crowded streets of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, not five minutes from Galileo's own residence. Aiden had been assigned to the monitor and protect Galileo Galilei by his organization, The Brotherhood of Steel. Aiden was an assassin. An exceptional assassin at that. He valued face to face confrontation to stealth encounters, so he could allow the target to know they were being hunted for their sins. So they might know death was coming, and it would not hesitate. Te allow them to reflect upon their atrocities in their last hours, and truly pay for what they have done. However, when necessary, like all assassin's Aiden could become one with his surroundings.

Aiden continued to Galileo's residence, his black cloak flowing freely in parts, and fastened securely at others. Beneath his cloak, light, leather armor with bits of steel plating. Aiden stopped outside of Galileo's home. He examined the building only a moment, then disappeared into an alleyway. He scaled the building with great ease, even the smallest brick enough for him to latch onto and use as a step. He passed through a window, and snuck about the building silently, until he finally found Galileo, in his Study, working on plans. No doubt plans for the Light Mass Bomb. Aiden watched him only a moment, then left. He would guard Galileo from outside, focusing on the most likely entrances of any would-be assassins.

Just as Aiden was on his way to the window he'd entered from, he heard just a brief noise on the roof. . . Aiden quickly moved against the wall by the window, and waited in the intruders blind spot, carefully drawing his Katar. A slender figure stepped onto the frame of the window, and just he it moved its head in, Aiden attacked!

Aiden thrusted the katar through the intruders throat, pushing him out of the window as quickly as possible to avoid any bloodstains inside of the house. He succeeded. Aiden passed through the window with the intruder, and pushed him up against the roof. The life slowly faded from the intruders eyes. . . Aiden descended from the second floor carefully with the dead intruders weight added to his own. Once he reached the ground, he stripped the intruder of his weapons, and stashed the body in a dark, seemingly unused corner of the alley. He would wait till nightfall to dispose of the body, piece by piece. . .

For now it seemed, Galileo was safe.

Aiden continued his watch silently, out of sight. He paused only a moment, then turned his head. . .

There was a flash of light and Seth found himself laying on the 'Animus'. "Congratulations, Mr. Baker! You have completed your first Memory!" Dr. Smith said in an oddly cheerful tone. Dr. Farve looked over at the two from his desk some twenty feet away.

"Send me the data, Dr. Smith." the old man instructed, and Dr. Smith obeyed. "Send Mr. Baker back to his room while we analyze this data." He added. Seth sat up slowly and looked around as his room door opened slowly.

"Thats it?" Seth asked curiously.

"No, no not by a long shot. You've still got a lot to do. Go to your room and get some rest." Dr. Smith instructed.

"Hey! I did what you wa-"

"Go to your room and get some rest." She repeated. Seth narrowed his eyes and scrunched his face up a little then hopped off the 'Animus' and went into his room. The white door slide shut behind him. The young man sighed and layed down on the plain white bed and looked up at the plain white ceiling.

"How long am I going to be here. . ."

Seth closed his eyes for a moment, all kinds of thought racing through his head, most regarding the 'Animus' and the memory he had visited. What could they possibly want with the memory of a guy that old? Its got to be really important. . . They kidnapped for it. . . I wonder what it is?

The boy took a deep breath then sighed. I can't wait till I get out of here. . . He thought, moving to the middle of the bed, and dozing off not long after. . .

Seth became Aiden once more, this time in his dream, not the 'Animus'. It was strange. . . The setting seemed entirely different from the one in the memory. The streets were covered in a heavy fog, and the buildings look completely different. The buildings seemed taller, and more detailed, but he couldn't put a name to them.

Aiden stalked through the street concealed within the fog, in front of him not ten yards away, another man. Aiden continued to stride toward his, bumping into the occasional person. Aiden continued forward, sliding a serrated dagger into his right hand. . . Aiden moved to strike. . .

In his mind, his settings turned to blue fog, and the man turned around and leveled a primitive pistol already cocked, then fired, opening Aiden's chest, dropping him to the ground. The man put his gun away, then continued to walk as by-stands crowded the body, and the fog masked the killer. . .

Aiden snapped back, the time passed so brief it couldn't be measured. Aiden moved to strike, and the man turned with his pistol in hand. Aiden quickly backhanded the cannon from the mans hand, and drove his dagger into his chest, then dragged it down, slid it out, and sheathed it. The man didn't make a noise but when he hit the ground. Aiden marched away allowing the fog to conceal his leisured getaway. . .

.:: Its been a while since I played Assassin's Creed, but I think I remember something about an Eagle Eye ability (Hostiles and targets light up, while others remain clear blue.), and something about a Bleed Through Effect (Which, through visiting memories of your ancestor, you acquire skills and abilities they had). You can each have some kind of ability to leak through, similar to Eagle Eye, or Clairvoyance. Nothing major or over the top. I'm confident you guys can come up with something reasonable. ::.
