Personally, I don't really believe in religion. I'm actually baptized Catholic myself, which is fairly similar to Christianity. I kinda think churches are important, but only really for christenings, weddings and funerals. I don't think taking regular mass or church classes is important though.
What's your view?

I am also a baptized catholic. However, belief wise, am an agnostic.
I don't really have an opinion on christianity though.

I'm a staunch atheist. I don't care if other people believe, as long as they don't try to make me believe too 3nodding
Gotta love Epicurus (Greek Philosopher) Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

I'm a Christian by choice. Partly because the SCIENCE and the FACTUAL EVIDENCE point towards there being a God or rather an Intelligent Designer. For example, there are 41 factors (that are known and acccepted among the scientific community) referring to a planet alone that if they were out by a fraction of a percent life would be impossible. There are 65 such parameters for the solar system and galaxy that need to be within that tiny fraction for being perfect for life.
DID YOU KNOW Out of 100 billion trillion possible planets in the universe (using the largest possible estimated number) our Earth is the ONLY planet that has all of those factors and parameters perfectly adjusted to sustaining life. Coincidence or was it on purpose??
And besides, every time I look at life WITHOUT God it makes me depressed. If you support the prebiotic soup theory (evolution) then you are a mistake with no purpose in life because you are an accident so nothing really matters and nothing is for a point and gonk
I'm happy with my God thankyou very much!
QUOTE TIME!!!
Christian faith is not an irrational leap. Examined objectively the claims of the Bible are rational propositions well supported by reason and evidence. - Charles Colson
That quote is awesome!! I'm gonna put it in my sig mrgreen

Lol Then why did God create all those billion trillion other planets? And who's to say there isn't life on the others? Just because life here exists in one form, doesn't mean it doesn't exist on other planets in other forms.
How does believing in evolution make us a mistake? Unplanned yes, but not a mistake. Surely being an unplanned miracle occurance makes us even more special than something created and designed by some dude in the clouds. Besides, where did God come from? Atheists believe in the big bang, to which religious people say 'Well what came before it? How did it get there?' I pose the same question in reference to God. How can you have faith in one religion, and logically deny the myriad of others with an argument that cannot be used to rule out your own?
As for that Charles Colson quote, a statement such as that really does need some sort of evidence. I could claim that the universe was created by a multidimensional pair of a** cheeks that farted us into existence, and that it was based on rational propositions and well supported reason and evidence, but without any actual reason or evidence, my claim is null and void.
(I'm not attacking you in any way, shape, or form and I appologise if I come accross as such. I'm not here to insult anyone, I actually find these sorts of discussions fascinating)
Also, WEEE QUOTE TIME AGAIN! xd
We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.
Gene Roddenberry

I don't particularly care if I have no purpose, no mean, no reason for existing. I am with the guy who posted somewhere above me, I don't care if others believe so long as they keep it to themselves. People believe because it comforts them, so why take it away? Whether or not a God actually exists, they're getting comfort from believing there is... I personally like the Greek religion, much better. Atleast they knew their Gods were drunken assholes who can't be shat about the people below... I'm a baptised Catholic but turned agnostic once too many of my friends' Christian reborn pastors told my friends to stay away from me because I was 'filled with demons'. After awhile, Christianity just kept bashing me up with it's Holier-than-thou fanatics (not all Christians, just the annoyingly persistant ones).
Otherwise, I think religion is a nice idea and keeps people being good. Though, why do you need to be threatened with punishment to be good? Why not be good on your own initiative? Religion provides a lot of support for people, but it didn't quite work out for me.
Now I'm a happy atheist hoping to become existentialist once I understand it better. My Extension I English teacher told us the basic concept which I agree with entirely and most religions should to an extent. It's the idea that the only way to stop bad things from happening is to stop doing bad things yourself. So, changing the world starts with you.. blah so on and so forth.
So whether or not there is a 'god' if people stopped yakking and started doing, we'd all be better off ^^
Which is usually why I'm stuck on the side of the road waiting for my mum because I didn't realise that I gave my bus money to the nice charity ladies on my way out of the shopping centre. Curse you charity!!
And since everyone's doing quotes, here's a favourite of mine!
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." -- Dr Seuss, that lovely wise, rhyming man.

Oh Dr Seuss What a wonderful wondeful man I want to marry his brain. I did an assignment on him, and wrote a poem in his style. I never appreciated how difficult his writing style was until I tried to imitate it. Anapaestic Tetrameter is such a b***h eek

I love Dr Seuss! He's my hero.
My stupid friend decided to disown him because he found out he was German (I don't understand why!)
I told him it was the miracle of German engineering. heart
Meters are incredibly cruel. I tried writing one too once, but I despaired and gave up. It's even harder trying to write one with 50 different words or less. 'Green Eggs and Ham' is a masterpiece.
