Yes, yes, and YES! I love the books, and sometimes I'll randomly start quoting them...it really annoys people, and that's only if they know I'm quoting LotR at all. sweatdrop

I read them all probably five or six years ago. Except the Silmarillion, which I still haven't breached. sweatdrop
The movies are really what renewed my interest in them. I loved the books and always meant to re-read them, but the movies really caught my interest. I still haven't re-read them, of course... but I still plan to. xd

Yep, I've read 'um. Actually I never had any interest in LOTR until I saw the movies. But since them I have read all three and the hobbit. I'm working on getting my hands on the silmarillion

I have read LotR about twice, The Hobbit maybe 3-4 times, and the Silmarillion once, but I attempted 3 times before, does that count? xd I also try to read his other works, whenever I can find them. Book stores are stingy like that. Peace, Syapherian

My friend had read the books before the movies, but I didn't know a whole lot about them until the movies came out, I saw TTT (yes, before FotR and was very confused.., but thought it was cool nonetheless) and then soon saw FotR and got the book box set (including the Hobbit) and read through the set several times since then. Love em!

Is that not the point of this guild - to read Tolkien's books? After all this IS the Tolkien guild, and not the Jackson guild.

I agree with Mery... (too long of an sn!)
I've read The Hobbit more times than I can remember, and am currently in the process of re-reading [the Lord of the Rings for the...I think...third time thus far. That's all I've read. I checked out the Lost Tales (Book One) from the library last year, but then we started readiong The Scarlet Letter in English and I ended up having to take it back without even starting it.

It may have started out as a place to discuss his writings, but a lot of people talk about the movies too. And really, the movies are pretty much an extension of Tolkien's start on Middle Earth anyway. whee
