Dalphine was trotting along, absolutely furious with her brother Golfino for saying the terrible things he did about her, the word issuing from her mouth nonstop from the moment she'd stomped away. Wasn't she a good kirin? Hadn't she always been there for others? Why was she treated so rudely by them all?
She was so caught up in herself and her own worries and woes and random thoughts that she never cared to watch where she was going nor who might cross her path. The sad truth that everyone else saw, but she did not, was that she couldn't see the past her own needs and wants. Never attributed the looks of horror everytime she appeared to her own presence, nor could she understand why kirin were so quick to excuse themselves and walk away...or in most cases ran. She saw herself as caring and sweet, trying to impart wisdom and advice where she thought it was called for (and usually wasn't), and generally helpful and kind.
Little did she know her perspective was about to take a complete 180 degree turn with one little meeting with a stranger.

It wasn't very long before her fate was sealed. In her carelessness she had attracted the sight of a living nightmare. Red-rimmed eyes locked on her from the darkness beneath the trees and watched her as she mused to herself and walked deeper into his clutches. There was no escape by the time he stepped out onto the path before her. Literally only a scant few feet away.
"My my... what do we have here? All alone in the deep dark woods... What could possibly drive such a pretty little thing like you to a place like this? Don't you know it's... dangerous... to be out here all alone?" He smirked, his head held high, confident, almost arrogant.

Though he'd stepped out merely a few feet away, Dalphine didn't see him till she'd nearly hit him with her nose, so engrossed in her mutterings and musings as she was. "Oh!" she exclaimed, stepping back in surprise. There was no fear in her eyes, though, as she didn't (or probably couldn't) recognize the danger so obviously present before her as others would of. Instantly cheerful at having someone to talk to (or more like talk 'at'), she grinned and blushed lightly at the compliment.
"Dangerous? Nah, it's not dangerous! I've been in woods plenty of times before and never found anything dangerous at all. And I like to walk alone, gives me a chance to think and calm down, don't you agree? Walks are always good...and good exercise! Get the blood flowing, keep the weight down, and all sorts of other good things!" She jogged in place as if to emphasis her point of how good exercise it was for a kirin.

He raised an eyebrow at her as she jogged in place. Was she really that dense or was she that good at pretending to be perfectly at ease talking to a demon? He canted his head to the side a bit.
"As for walking alone I quite agree, but that's because my kind prefer solitude for the most part." Though that didn't mean 'his kind' didn't enjoy going out of their lairs for some mischief or prey...or maybe a good romp around the bushes... He smirked again, an evil glint in his eyes. "And, No danger, huh? I suppose this means you're not afraid of anything.... For if there is nothing to fear, then there is no danger."

"Your kind?" Dalphine's face clouded over slightly at the emphasis the strange male put on the words 'his kind', and something began to gnaw at her mind, but she just couldn't quite put her hoof on any real reason to be worried. It quickly cleared, though, as she proclaimed, "Exactly!" The thing is, she'd never BEEN in harms way, never truly been in any real danger except to be hogtied and muzzled on occasion. Perhaps she wasn't as daft as she was naive to what perils life truly had, to those who existed in the darkness preying on those who stray just a little too far from the light as she had. Still...her smile faltered as whatever was gnawing at her got a little louder. Was something wrong? She glanced around for a second, feeling like she was being watched, but saw no one else. Shivering lightly, she tried to push the absurd thought of away as she turned back to the male.
