TB is a really excellent manga ! If you like (or even if you don't) Subaru, you'll appreciate it.
But... the first vol. is fun, but I'm not sure that if you buy only the first vol. you'll be satisfied, because it dosn't speak so much about the relationship between the three characters. You have to buy all the mangas ;p !! You will be happy with these books !

I rather enjoy it. It is among my top five manga favorites. 3nodding I am such a fan of the Seishiro/Subaru ship I had to buy it. whee

If you love X/1999 and/or Subaru or Seishirou, you'll probably like Tokyo Babylon. It has sort of an X-Files feel at first, but the plot gets deeper as the true feelings between Subaru and Seishirou become clearer. And, as far as I know, there is only the Tokyo Babylon movie in terms of anime. But I once heard a rumor that a live-action version of TB was going to be made.

tb is great...it's good if you're a fan of x b/c you get to learn about the history of seishiro and subaru and how they came to be who they are in x in 1999.

The TB manga is excellent...it is really interesting to see Subaru before he got all angsty and depressed (and reading this story makes what happens in X even more tragic). The OAVs are stand alone stories that take place somewhere in the middle of the manga volumes, and YES, there was a live action TB movie made in Japan quite a while ago. It was entitled Tokyo Babylon/ 1999, and set several years after the TB manga series, but before the events in X.

i love tokyo babylon, but as angelzdemonz said, its way too short to buy. i read them and scan them thanks to the glorious san francisco public library and photocopier ^.^
but if there is one or 2 worth owning i would buy volumes 3 and 7.

Tokyo Babylon is pretty much the back story of Subaru Sumeragi and a prequel of sorts to X. If you are not a Subaru fan then I probably wouldn't buy it. It isn't required to understand the story of X. It is just some story to give you some background...sort of.

My favorite volume of TB is 7 and then 4. I LOVE the way TokyoPop released it with the pics and the different colors though purple would have been better than orange because the red one is too close in color the orange one can easily be mistaken AS the red one (speaking from experience).

I bought the TB "series" which is only two episodes long and all the manga because I love Subaru Sumeragi (note: not SubaruXSeishirou)

Tokyo Babylon is good even if you don't like X/1999. X/1999 is an End of the World, save the World story; However TB is more of a personal story, and in it get a better grip on reality, and as much depth on the characters as you got from X/1999.
