Tournament Style : Custom League Play

What is Custom League Play?
Custom League Play is a longterm tournament in which participants may enter at any stage of the tournament. However there is a specific set of rules applying to decks. Each round of play earns a player a set of points in which he or she may use to customize their deck. There may also be added elements given to decks and matches.

Quote:
Initial Decklists : 40 Cards
15 Basic Land
15 Creatures
3 Instants
2 Sorceries
3 Enchantments
2 Artifacts

5 Uncommons
1 Rare

All Cards must be from Shards of Alara
You must pick one shard and play with cards from those colors
You may not use any card with abilities belonging to another Shard or using colors you do not have access to
No Sideboard

Quote:
How the Points Work Out
2-0 Win: 4 Points
2-1 Win: 3 Points
1-1-1 Draw: 2 Points
1-2 Loss: 1 Points
0-2 Loss: 0 Points

Program Used :
All matches are to be conducted using Magic Workstation (MWS). Don't have MWS? Follow the guide below to get started. (It won't cost a thing besides a minute of your time)

Quote:
Guide of Installing MagicWorkstation

1.) Visit www.magicworkstation.com and click on 'downloads'
2.) Download Magic Workstation version 0.94f (aka the only one there).
3.) Visit www.mwsgames.com/index.php/Main_Page and download the Card Database.
4.) Install Magic Workstation. (Don't worry if it doesn't detect your game pack that you just downloaded.)
5.) Exit Magic Workstation (If it's open) and install the Card Database.
6.) Open MWS again (The card database should appear in the library section replacing the example set) and go to View -> Deck Edit Mode. This view shows the card database on the left and the current deck on the right.
7.) Make your deck.

Quote:
*FAQ about the program
Q: It says that MWS costs 30$, I thought you said it was free?
A: While, yes the program in its entirety is 30$, the evaluation version can be downloaded for free. The evaluation version gives you the capability to find opponents online and play matches against them, that's all we need.

Q: What is the difference between the evaluation and registered versions?
A: Your registration key will get you:
* Shareware reminder and banner windows will be removed;
* You will be able to create your own cardsets without limitation (30 card limit in unregistered version);
* You will be able to test your decks without having to use "mirror-match" mode;
* Limitation for one page Deck/Proxy printing will be removed;
* Reminder labels in any output documents will be eliminated (in export menu);
* You may change your photo or avatar, and the play background, and your opponents will be able to view it when they play;
* You will gain access to the private part of our forum;
* You will gain personal support by e-mail

Q: How come none of the cards have any pictures?
A: Magic has over 3000 cards to digitize. Formating them in a text form makes the install file exponentially smaller than if it gave you EVERY image (a good 5-10 Gigs at least)

Q: So then how do I get the pictures?
A: While there is no official source for these scans, Slightly Magic supplies HQ scans of all the pictures available for download (make sure you read up on how to apply these images instead of just downloading them blindly)

How to Sign Up :

Post! Just say "In" or "I'm playing" or something to that extent along with a decklist and your contact information.

Tournament Begins : December 22th, 2008.

This tournament, like every other before it, will have NO ENTRY FEE. However unlike any tournament usual tournament held, there will be no prize support. If we get a good number of players, this may change.

Done this with real people and its fun.

The points used to create decks is what really gets involving.

Yeah, I was talking about like the fact that you have to us 3 enchantments to start with, isn't that a little hard for some of the shards???
