I created this topic several years ago. I never realized how embarrassingly I spoke in middle school... ._.

... I've only been saved for a couple years... and I was quite stubborn at first. It's on God's time, not ours.

As far as Athiests go, I don't believe that there is any way possible to get them to change. First of all, they would have to want to change. The only one who could soften their heart would be Christ. The Bible says this "The fool has said in his heart there is no God". God's word has called those who don't believe in God a fool, not me. Their eyes are blinded to the facts. Until they have a change of heart, it is impossible to deal with them. All we can do is pray for them hoping that someday they will see the light.

... Yes. Change is a matter of wanting to change in the first place.

Many reasons actually. First of all they aren't athiests they are anti-theists. They don't believe there is no God, they believe that no one should be permitted to believe there is a God. Their lives are wholly self centered and empty and to see people of faith, people whose lives have meaning, who have peace--it convicts them. So they respond by trying to destroy that which convicts them.

More or less, Its a struggle of power, there is no real thing as a "True Atheist" Cause in the end when they're dying, they all cry out for help, but they dont' know who they're asking. They want to know (or believe to think) They control their lives, actions, and everything that goes on around them. They don't like to submit to a higher power and have trouble believing in what they don't see (Blessed are those who believe without seeing, for they will inhereit the Kingdom of Heaven Matt 5 or 6 I believe) Simply, They don't like rules, so they make their own and like to live in their own self centered way. Buuuuuuuuut! Not all of them are like that, I have an amazing atheist friend, She just doesn't know what to believe, so she chose what she thought would be easiest. But hence, there is no helping her in that. All we can do as Christians is Follow Gods word, try to reach these people, PRAY, and show them though all our actions, words, and everything, who we are. "True Christians are Defined by their actions, NOT their words, for words account for nothing" - Me, lol

It's gotten very ugly, this culture, and there is a widening rift between good and evil. It used to be that most people would pay lip service to God, that is, saying they believed in Him whether they did or not. Now, it's as if Satan has a free rein with his folk, inspiring them to speak as nastily as possible, and God is calling His own to Him. This has happened in a matter of decades - there was always sin around, but it wasn't always so celebrated in popular culture. mad
I also have to wonder if some of the virulent anti-theist attack isn't subconsciously meant for Islam, but the vomit-beast known as Political Correctness prevents public ire from coming its way, so it gets taken out on Christ and Christians instead.

... I agree. It's not going to get better. We know that. It's just a matter of waiting, and being ready.

Oh, I don't know. Those who claim to follow Christ have brought a lot of the anti-Christian sentiment upon themselves.
Just look at what the Evangelicals and Fundamentalists have done. They dehumanize women and hate monger, they call out for blood and wars upon those whom they don't agree with, they have not stopped at speaking against sin but have gone farther and persecuted sinners. They have turned their backs on truth, not just science but also Biblical truth because it is inconvenient for them. In short, the loudest Christians do not behave at all like Christians. Just look at Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter. They behave like the world and if there is no difference between the world and a Christian, why would the world care about our Christ?
It doesn't take a sinful world to rebel against those kinds of things. In fact that the world in general has rebelled against it, is to me, a sign that things aren't yet as bad as Christians always like to tell me it is.

*nods* That's understandable. I think lots of people are getting addicted to drama... there are days for me when I just wanna wring someone's neck because of that. And I'm really not a violent person. I just get tired of people complaining and not doing anything about it.
