Hey Guys,
Some Christians have a way of struggling with which Testimate to follow, so I want to be able to clear some stuff up for you. First of all, I'm sorry, I've made the mistake of telling some people otherwise to what I'm about to say, i've learned about this a little more since i last spoke about it.
ok, So, People always ask, "Why do we have to follow the old testimate if Jesus came? Doesn't that cancel it out?" Answer is, No, it doesn't. If you think about it, Where would the New testimate's laws be based off of? Take Paul for example, when writing a majority part of the new testimate, where did his views come from? The old testimate!
Now, yes, there were a few things that changed from the old testimate to teh New testimate. Some things such as Sacrifices. Because Jesus Came, he was the Ultimate Sacrifice, so we no longer have to go Sacrifice a bull with the whole cermony. Also, Take Sundays for Example, Jesus healed a man on a sunday, and the Pharaices were all on his case about it. Jesus Knew that Sundays was for Mans benifit, not for the days benifit, so that law has been changed. There are many more. but I just wanted to let you guys know that they are both [the old and new testimate] to be taken seriously.

One just has to wonder though: Why did it have to be changed? What was it that made God decide to "change the rules"? Point is, God changes. God is perfect, but He changes things. When Christ came and died for our sins, the ultimate sacrifice, He changed things because of how the world changed. In the other books, things changed again as a result of the times, regarding love, promiscuity and immorality. Granted, there has not been a new book written for a LONG time, but that does not mean that God no longer changes.

I disagree. It says in the Bible that God does not change. He knew what would happen. Christ was with Him in the beginning earth was created, He had a plan for us, because He knew we would mess up. He didn't change. We did. He will always be the same, the same loving, kind God that we know and worship with our souls.

You have to look at it this way. The Old Testament was written before Christ was born, thus the sacrifices that the Jews did was a picture of what was to come. Because of Adam's sin, someone had to pay for the penalty of that sin which was pictured by the Jews sacrificing a lamb without spot or blemish. Once Christ came and died for the sins of the entire world, the sacrifices have stopped. Christ was the Ultimate Sacrifice. He is called the "Lamb of Glory". He was perfect in every way shape or form. The Old Testament is for our learning and understanding. The New Testament was written after Christ died. Everything in the Old Testament was pointing to the day that Christ would be born of a "virgin", live a perfect sinless life, die on the cross for our sins and rise again. The New Testament reflects and points back to that time when Christ was born, lived a perfect sinless life, died on the cross for our sins and rose again. It also is pointing to that final day when He will come back again and claim all those who have accepted Him as their Savior to live with Him forever.
God is a Spirit. God cannot change. The only ones who change are people and the times in which we live. The Bible does state this "Jesus, today, yesterday and forever still the same." I don't know the exact passage as of the moment as I don't have my Bible to find it, but it is in there. I believe it is in Hebrews.

Interesting point. I, too, wonder about this. I think that God is very "hardcore" in the past, and "softer" today, from our viewpoint, because he is showing us that throughout history, he is doing everything he can to rescue us. Like a parent, he tries cajoling, blessing, threatening, punishing, giving privileges, withholding privileges, ignoring us - everything he can do to show us that no matter how he behaves, our reaction to him is not enough. He does this to individuals, families, nations, cultures and the entire world. Example: My older sister was very independent and did whatever she wanted. When she got grew up and realized she cheated herself out of ballet lessons because of her stubborness, she blames my mother for being too soft on her. She said if Mom had only spanked her and forced her to take lessons, she would be better for it today. I don't think anyone, or any nation, is going to be able to say, "God, if you had only been kinder/harsher to us, we would have done better." God already knew he was going to have to take that last, most desperate, measure of throwing down his only son to be tortured and slaughtered in our place, even before Eve grabbed the fruit, but he needed to show us, for our sake, that he went through the entire checklist of options before doing that. It's not so much that God changed - we are just comparing the gradient of his actions from the deep end to the light end.

If that were so, then we'd be God, and that is NOT the case. Everything we do, every decision we make, has already been predestined, we have no say in the matter, God chooses, he already knows, end of that story. He never changes "So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie" Hebrews 6:18a God is forever, alpha, omega, begining and the end. If someone were to think that he changes his character to fit our schedual, they'd be greatly mistaken. We can't match up to him, we are the ones who have to change, but whether we do or not, he already knows.

Yes God doesnt change and any who say he does dorry to be so bold as to say but you are calling God a liar because as Mishy and inuyasha stated He even said he cant and wont change and if we miss out on something its not His fault its not even our parents fault cause i might say if they would have made me but if they did i might say if they didnt make me just like God doesnt make us change we have to do it and the old testiment is as inuyasha said and the new testiment is as she says to and another book wont be written in the bible wat we have is the finished product
