RP is OPEN.

Within a Straightjacket

The Corrupt are coming, Aedan and Minya are worried, and there's something strange going on at the Meadow of Life that perhaps no one is prepared for.

The shop's ready to introduce the Corrupt - officially - and this event will encompass customs, two flatsales, new item releases, roleplay, and elder nominations. The main difference from any other event is that this one is confined to the Guild in its entirety.

A general reminder is that all Corrupt from this event are RP-required to grow and gain a social class. The Corrupt are an entirely different, erm, monster, than the other Dragon Kyns. So, please, keep your hands and fingers and arms inside the car at all times and be prepared to pray.

Event Rules

Due to the nature of this event, there are a few rules that I want to highlight and add to the normal shop rules. Of course, all shop rules still apply here.

1. No badgering outside of character. Badgering encompasses all forms of harassment, begging, and whining - in thread and through PMs. This also includes being a good sport. Not everyone can win here.

2. Understand that this roleplay can and most likely will get violent at some point. We are going to try and limit that as much as possible, but it will have to happen. If you are not okay with this, then back off the Corrupt plotline and don't get one that's RPable, please.

3. Because of the nature of this RP situation, I will be very very strict about getting things below the PG-13 rating. If you are unsure of something, then please ask before posting it. If you are at any point uncomfortable with something someone else has posted, PM me and I will deal with it. I want everyone to be able to enjoy the event - not stress over it.

4. Be familiar with the past plot points before you RP here. It is assumed that you have an understanding of what has happened, and is needed to follow this plot.

5. Do not godmode. Ever. This means no controlling someone else's character. Also, you are not invincible. You bleed and you can die, though we're really trying to avoid one of those.

6. Multiple shop-related mules are being used for this event. They are: Kyn_Caretaker [Aedan and Minya, plus ferals], Rikkashan [Rikkashan and Corrupts], and Tigris [Tigris and Corrupts].

Due to a few rough spots in the past, breaking these rules will likely result in being excluded from this event. If it is severe enough, you will be blacklisted. I apologize, but Waffles can't be nice in this plotline with Rikky breathing down her neck.

Nominations

Something strange is at the ranch, that has made Aedan's feral friends keep their distance despite curosity. There are two giant Kyn, one far superior to the other, though even the smallest is arguably in-league with a full grown European male. They are here for an important reason, though the Island shutters under the weight they bring with them.

There are ancient legends that speak of Kyn that grew to enormous sizes, who's powers were unmatched by anyone. For Lunars, the Gift of the Moon dropped from the Blue Heavens and granted them speed and strength. In the case of Europeans, the Earth's Flint Gift came from the depths, and sparked courage and physical prowess in their blood.

A nomination period is upon us again, it seems, and the dark clouds of uncertainty are even more opaque this time.

Only Kyn who have been RPed or have the intention of being RPed are eligible. Another Kyn of the same species from outside the den are the only ones able to elect one of their peers, and they must do so without being requested and without telling the other rider or Kyn. If this rule is violated, if someone requests that their Kyn or one of their Kyn be nominated, then all requests concerning one of their Kyn, whether they already were made, will be ignored. Likewise, bragging about such nominations, or telling someone that you nominated their Kyn before the reveal period will cause those nominations to be ignored. This will be very strictly enforced.

There is no telling if good or bad or anything at all will come of this. Take any nominations that you do seriously. Do know that, as soon as possible, the Kyn you nominated will be alerted. They and you alone will know about it until the reveal. It is crucial to not tell others that your Kyn has been nominated. If your Kyn is nominated multiple times, you will only be alerted the first time. Multiple nominations will be revealed when all accepted Kyn are revealed. The Kyn will have the opportunity to reject the nomination at the time they are told. There is only one opportunity to accept or reject and this cannot be changed. Be careful what you choose.

Although we encourage everyone to nominate multiple Kyn, we also want you to understand that this is a high point of respect and a lot of responsibility you are offering to someone else. Be sure of your choice(s), and put effort into your nomination forms. They should show some form of great courage, or intelligence, or something that sets them apart from others of their species.

Cosplay Kyn, heavily edited Kyn (in which they would not be considered a model Kyn), and mixed breeds (even if predominantly Lunar) are not allowed to be nominated, unfortunately.

To hopefully help eliminate any misunderstandings in the future, these guidelines may be a little strange but they are in place for a reason.

All nomination forms are to PMed to the mule. Lunar female nominations should be entitled "Gift of the Moon", while European male nominations should be called "Earth's Flint Gift".

Gifted Kyn Rules and Regulations

It is a rare opportunity for a Kyn to be given the honor of accepting a gift. So rare, in fact, that there are specific rules surrounding it.

1. No more than three Kyn of a given species.gender combination a month may receive any of the Gifts, and no more than two of any species/gender combination a month may use their Gift.

2. A Kyn must be voted to their position to use their Gift.

3. Gifts are limited in number and can only be earned or purchased at certain points and only in limited stock. Only one or two Gifts of any one type will be sold per month. Roleplay to receive a Gift may only be open for short periods of time each month. Purchasing a Gift will be costly. Roleplaying for one will take a lot of time.

4. A single Kyn Owner may not have more than one of their Kyn use their Gift in a span of three months.

5. A single Kyn Owner may not, at this point in time, own more than one Kyn who has used their Gift per species.

Rules are subject to change and alteration as needed.

Aedan calls the smaller of the two creatures Neti, who speaks softly and only to Aedan and Minya. She is blind, but even her pale unseeing eyes reflect a sort of sadness about the world. For those lucky enough to have heard her singing voice, it is moving in its sadness and depth. Neti's call can be heard by Lunar females who have a pure heart and good intentions only.

Roleplay Overview

Our Creation: Aedan and Minya took one rider or Kyn from each den far off the mainland, to an island that was enchanted so no one without Minya could land. It is the Island where all Kyn eggs come from, where all Kyn are born. It was there that everyone learned that Kyn originate from dreams. Each rider, each Kyn, each familiar, being tenuously connected.

It was also learned that there are some things created from nightmares. When the precious Flowers that Kyn are born from are touched - a blade of grass, a mishap from a poor bird - cause the flower to burst into flame. It destroys anything near it, potentially setting off a chain reaction that destroys more flowers. The result is an egg that hatches instantly, releasing a creature that runs into the ocean.

Minya and Aedan confessed to knowing the creatures, which were called Corrupt. Their leader, long ago, tried to kill off all bonded Kyn, and so Minya's great great great grandmother took the skies and used her power to raise an island and a land bridge, luring them there with a powerful spell. She collapsed the bridge, and fell to her death at their claws. Aedan is immortal, so long as one of Minya's great great great grandmother's line lives. But there is much to this story they did not share.

Minya was angered when one of the flowers burst into flame due to a familiar while they were visiting, and there was something across the sea that screamed back at her.

Leaving the Mainland: A strange creature showed up on the island, luring away select Kyn from their homes, enticing them to follow him across the ocean to a place where True Kyn, an ancient, powerful species that Aedan banished because they could not bond to humans, lived in exile, without wings or magic to get them home.

Lunar Elder Event: At the Festival, something ancient came to the island and called, and only selected male Lunars could hear him. He chose from among them two Lunars to take a very special gift, one that no one knows what it does. The only thing that everyone does know is that it will change their lives forever.

Roleplay Start Point

Aedan had sent messengers to every rider's den he could, hoping that word of mouth would spread to those he couldn't find. Minya wasn't on the ranch, instead circling high overhead with her attention to something no one else could see.

It was time to do something, but Aedan feared the results. This was different than what had happened in the past. This was a threat to the mainland, to their way of life - to life itself.

Spirit walked around the entrance to Edoc'sil, nervous. Aedan had sent a message to the Edoc'sil clan a few days ago, and it sounded important. Rosemary decided to send Spirit and Paradox there. Rowan had fallen recently sick, so Rosemary refuses to leave her side. The lunars can't go as fast as the flying kyns, as well as flightless Ilythiiri (who can't stand the sunlight anyways), so it was up to the Clan's two Eastern dragons to answer.

Rosemary settled down to Spirit, and touched the larger kyn with her nose.

Peace. I have met Aedan before, he is trustworthy and a friend. Rose told her. Spirit nodded.

Yeah, I know. But it sounds so serious... Spirit stopped her pacing and laid down on the stone. How's Ro?

Rosemary shook her head and looked down, a pained look on her face.

She is not getting much better I'm afraid. Rosemary replied. There had been an outbreak of a mysterious disease at the town of Weslock. Ari had managed to locate the source in the water supply of the village, but that information didn't help much. The townspeople can't simply just stop drinking.

Paradox floated into the large room, his and Spirit's considerable bulk nearly taking up the entire cavern.

Are you ready to go sweetie? Paradox asked Spirit, and the female just replied by rolling her eyes.

Safe journeys to you two. Rosemary told the two as they opened the large slab of rock covering the entrance to the den. Both Easterns flew off into the sky, snaking through the air in the peculiar way easterns do.

A day later, after travelled as fast as they could, both kyns landed on the Ranch. Spirit breathed a breath of relief- she had been afraid they would fly off course. She looked around, not knowing what to expect.

When Aedan's message had arrived, only Zen really knew what to do. Ari was a fairly new rider, and the two younger Lunars were clueless to who this mysterious 'Aedan' was. But Zen had always heard Ivan speak of the rider with respect, and on one occasion, had met him.

Thinking deeply as he glanced from Mikayl to June and back and forth before shaking his head slightly. The two of you are far too inexperienced. I cannot just let you two go on your own, he decided, swishing his tail. I will answer Aedan's call, and the two of you stay here and help Ari watch the new eggs. Understood?

Be careful, Zen, Juniper told him with worry evident in her voice. Don't get hurt.

I won't, the European reassured the female.

Why do you get to have all the fun? grumbled the blind Lunar, though his worry was seeping through their bond. Zen had to smile at how cute Mikayl was being.

I'm going, Zen informed them before spreading out his wings and flying up through the Staircase, and used his earth magic to bring the slab of earth to the side so he could fly out into the air. He floated in the air for a moment to close the Staircase before setting off in the direction that he believed the Ranch was in.

A day and a half later, he finally came to a stop in front of the Ranch. It had taken a while because he had only bypassed the place, but had never actually been to it.

To his surprise, he could already see Spirit, and the newest kyn to Edoc'sil, Paradox, waiting at the Ranch. Of course, it would only be natural for Aedan to send messengers to the other clans as well.

Stretching out his wings before tucking them in, Zen landed smoothly, not quite sure what he was supposed to do.

Once the messanger had left from the densite, all the kyns present had gathered outside to find out what the message entailied. Poke was happy to tell them, but inside she felt nervous and excited at the same time.

"It's no often Aedan summons us to the ranch" Kameko mused, making sure her two new familiars weren't making to much trouble.

"yeah, though by the sounds of it, this seems quite serious..." poke had already jumped on shiro's back, ready and raring to go. Shiro on the other hand, didn't seem so impressed. "Why do you always have to use me as the horse?" he grumbled.

"Because Taku isn't here, and lunars are easier to ride. Fur is soften then scales, you know" nodding to herself she looked around. "Okay, who's going to come with me?"

"I'm going this time" Ozzy said from the back. His tail swished from side to side as he spoke. "I don't want to be hanging around here today"

"Don't leave me behind!" Pap appeared from behind ozzy, and her familiar for once was sitting on her head and not buzzing around like mad.

With a slight yawn, Toroth raised his arm to say he was going to attend as well, but was to lazy to actually say anything at this time.

"Okay, if thats it then lets head off! HI HO SHIRO, AND AWWAAYYYY!!!" Smacking her heels to the lunar kyns sides he yiped and jumped down from the hillside, running towards the ranch-site. Kameko and Pap followed, as well as ozzy. Toroth was Bringing up the rear.

Once they reached the ranch, Poke jumped off (or was thrown off, no one was quite sure) Shiro's back and walked closer to see a few easterns and a european was here too.

News traveled fast, reaching even Crater Lake not long after Aedan had sent out the word. DA still had connections among many of the mercenary trade from the days when she, too, had been an itinerant warrior. Not many made the trek up to Crater Lake: those who did quickly learned that there was no work on the mountain, unless they wanted to be bombarded by request to kill the "monsters infesting the Lake Island." Only a fool would have taken that job: DA had a certain amount of renown among those of her trade for her bladework, and more than one mercenary owed their life to her herbal healing skills. That, coupled with the fact that she was the mistress now of a flight of kyns, made her an imposing enemy. But, those who came, they who might have been foes, had often been offered a place to rest for the night before making the journey back down to more promising areas. Draconargentum, as she called herself now, had much knowledge of the art of making enemies. It was an art she no longer wished to pursue.

It was a mercenary who had brought the news, a longbowman with long hair and a rather surly attitude, a man that DA called an old friend. He had come from a small town, Weslock, where another colony of kyns was established: DA recalled having met its flightmistress and princess when the feather-winged kyn had been but a hatchling. The archer had said that, on top of the town being in turmoil (something about a mysterious sickness), two of the kyns, easterns, had flown off without their rider, and hadn't returned. Rumors spread among the citizens of Weslock of their having been summoned...And so he had come, only to leave as the sun was sinking again to the horizon. There was always need, he said by way of excuse, of a good bowman down among the settlements of humans. DA had whispered later that he was just of the rather lonely sort, like Asani.

As little as she enjoyed leaving her kyns, DA had told them that she would go. Alone. If Aedan had sent out a summons, it had to be important, but she was not going to risk any of her flight. Perhaps it would take longer to reach the Ranch, but she believed it would be better that way. She would leave one hour after dawn, she told them.

Jicho couldn't sleep that night. Even with the red glow of his lantern holding back the night, visions came to him, fractured. He saw flashes: landmarks of the world that he knew nothing of, a place he assumed was the ranch, an island of bright flowers, the silhouette of a sandy-colored gargoyle, the shadowy form of a monster patterned in black and red and yellow. It all meant nothing to him, a jumble of incoherent images. The moon was waxing, the black gargoyle noticed: the moon was familiar, never frightening. He didn't hear the quiet footsteps that came up behind him until a small hand rested on his heavy shoulder. He glanced down.
"Shouldn't you be asleep in the village?"

Kaido, the boy who had found Jicho's egg, the boy who might one day become a flightmaster if he was ever able to break away from those of his village. He shook his head. "I couldn't. Worried about DA." The gargoyle nodded agreement. None of the Crater Lake flight liked the thought of 'their' human traveling alone. Nevermind that she had done so for years before finding Kiko's egg. Surely it was too dangerous for her. But even so, she had insisted. The thoughtful silence stretched between the gargoyle and his human friend.

"We should go instead," the boy said suddenly. Jicho wasn't sure he had heard correctly until Kaido continued. "That way, DA can stay here and be safe with all the others." Something shone in the boy's green eyes: the gargoyle had a feeling that that wasn't his only motivation, but the idea appealed to him. After all, as the oldest male in the flight, wasn't it his job to protect them? It didn't take much more persuasion on either side before both were caught up by the idea and their plans for exploration and valor. Only long claws scraping the stone behind them broke the spell.

"There is no dissuading you..." Gray and forest-green fur, twin tails swaying low. Litienn. She could sense their emotions and resolve even without seeing it written in their faces. "I will go, too." She didn't need to add that it was to keep an eye on them: it was written in her tone, in the way she held her ears cocked half-back. Jicho nodded and crouched to let Kaido mount his shoulders, questioning if the boy should go get the saddle that DA had made for him from the leather of an old bear who had taken to raiding the village's food stores before hunters had gotten to him. The boy shook his head.

"If you flew like Myrrh or Kiko, yeah, but I won't need it to stay on your back." It was true: Kiko's odd snaking flight and Myrrh's acrobatics easily unseated the boy, but Jicho, powerful and steady, was a much smoother ride. With a nod back at the lunar, the red-eyed gargoyle took to the skies, circling between the moon and the earth.

Litienn sighed, shook herself. Her long fur and twin tails shone in the pale light. DA would worry, she knew. And if they didn't leave some sort of message, she might think that they had followed the path that Rutilus had chosen...it seemed so long ago now. The wolf-kyn looked down at the flat stone beneath her paws. Summoning the earth-magic she knew into her claws, the lunar carved a few symbols into the living rock: an inverted U, and below it, an eye, a stick-human, and two tails, all in a row. DA had told her, once, of the U symbol mercenaries used to promise their comrades they would return. Leaping down to the island's beach and ducking into the tunnel that would take her to the outer edge of the lake, Litienn hoped that it would be enough.

They traveled through what was left of the night, stopping to rest at the hottest part of the day only when Jicho could fly no longer. It was only a few hours after that they arrived at the Ranch. Even Litienn with her incredible endurance was panting heavily, her tongue lolling out the side of her mouth. It had been a long time since she had run so far, so hard. It felt good, though she would likely be sore on the morrow. Jicho's wings slumped when he landed until he shook them out and folded them, arranging his scales to look presentable. Kaido simply looked around in awe: he had heard of the ranch from Kiko and Myrrh and DA. Surely there were other kyns here, and he hoped to meet them all.

Minya remained far above, her circle wide, and slowly expanding. She was using updrafts to minimize her energy loss, but she would tire nad have to land eventually.

Aedan was indoors when the first few Kyn began to arrive, and he took a time longer to gather and mix some of his herbs to take the edge of their apparent exhaustion. He could do that much, at least, for these young ones. Stepping out of the house and wiping a hand over his face to clear the sweat, he watched as the black gargoyle landed with his young boy of a rider, and the two-tailed Lunar's approach.

He walked towards them, the smile on his face tight and certainly pressed. Aedan was dressed in his typical tawny rough-material pants, without shoes. His white shirt was unbuttoned at the top, speckled with dirt and sweat. The day, however, was the nipping cold of fall. "You all look tired. It isn't much, but this should help. There's also water, or tea, if you would like that." He offered the three large canteens of the mixture - which tasted faintly of peppermint - around to the group. They were Kyn-sized, massive in his arms.

"Is there anyone else that we know is not yet here?

Kaido looked up at Aedan, eyes shining with admiration. This had to be the kyn caretaker that Myrrh and DA had spoken so highly of, the protector (along with Minya...the kyn circling above, perhaps?) of the flowers from which kyns were born. "Thank you," he said finally, taking two of the canteens: as massive as they were to Aedan, it was incredible that the boy was able to carry them at all, but somehow, he managed. He staggered under their weight towards Jicho. The gargoyle sat back on his haunches as he took one of the vessels in his red-tipped talons, contorting until he found a comfortable position to drink, a little of the herbal liquid trickling out the corner of his mouth, dripping off his jawspikes.

Finding one canteen more manageable than two, Kaido held the other so that Litienn could bend her neck to drink, lapping at the liquid within between bouts of panting. He looked over his shoulder at Aedan's question. He wasn't sure himself: Crater Lake was rather cut off from other areas, and, if DA had visited other densites, she hadn't spoken much of it.
"How many flights are there in the world?" The boy looked about, his head turning this way and that: surely they weren't the only ones who had come? After all, the mercenary who had come had said something about easterns...Kaido had never met an eastern aside from Kiko.

(Sorry, but same here. I'm on a laptop, and when I read your posts, DA, the words kind of blur together, making it impossible to read.)

Zen accepted the canteen from Aedan gratefully, gripping it between his from claws as he dipped his long neck down to drink from it. He was actually a bit surprised that there weren't more kyns answering Aedan's messages.

At first glance, the boy hardly looked like the Aedan that was talked about far and wide, but the kyn floating around above them left no doubts to the identity of the boy. It was strange, though. The European had imagined the caretaker to be... well, he supposed more mighty.

I am the only one from my clan, Zen answered, swallowing another mouthful of the herbal mixture. And I am only familiar with Edoc'sil, who are already here.

( Press ctrl and + at the same time, and the words should get bigger. Well, it works on my computer anyways. I know that this doesn't do anything on my school computers, so I don't know if it'll work on yours ^^ )

Spirit stretched mightily, feeling the ache in her muscles from the long flight. Her constant exercise back at the clan against their princess, Rosemary, has definitely kept her in shape. She's pulled off all-nighters hunting some particularly hard prey before, she'll be fine.

Spirit was worried about Dox though. The red eastern was a lot younger than spirit, and smaller. Dox is the newest member of Edoc'sil, and it has not been expected of him to hunt yet. Dox had landed pretty heavily, as if he was trying to get back to the ground as soon as possible. His sides were heaving from exhaustion. The two had stopped for a break half-way through, but it did not seem to have helped too much.

Spirit watched as Zen arrived, and greeted them briefly. She was fascinated as she watched two unfamiliar kyns enter the ranch. One was a black kyn that looked like an European but...different (May he be one of those Gargoyle Kyns Spirit has heard of?) and the other was a two-tailed green lunar.

Then Spirit watched Aedan come out of the house, and turned around, nudging Dox with her snout.

Let's go meet everyone. She told the smaller eastern. Dox smiled tiredly, and the two easterns glided gently towards where the others are gathered. The bangles around Dox's right hind leg jingled as he moved, and his scarf flapped around from the movement. Spirit never understood why Dox would use such things, she believed a Kyn was a beautiful thing naturally.

When they reached there, Dox gratefully drank from the canteen, and Spirit took a few reserved sips, but that was it. She looked at Aedan curiously, looking back through the mental images Rosemary had given her. He was smaller than she had thought, but then again, Rosemary was a lot smaller than spirit. Not to mention the European was only a hatchling when she had met the man.

We are here on behalf of the Edoc'sil clan. Our rider has fallen ill, so she and the Princess could not make it here. The rest of our clan is flightless, and it would be a difficult journey here for them. Spirit answered Aedan, and closed her eyes.

If I do remember, a rider named Poke came to visit our clan before I was hatched. Also, Sora, a rider staying with us, could not come. Besides them and Aezhenn Chalm, I do not know of any other riders.

Dox brought his head up, some of the herbal mix still dripping around his jaws. He made an effort to clean it -it wouldn't be right to be rude in front of ladies- and then said,

There is also a clan called Silvanus, my mother was from there. I don't know much about them 'cept for their name though.

Spirit nodded. That's about all the Kyn clans they know of.
