EDIT! If anyone has any opinions about the Resistance movement (how we should format it, etc.) I'd love to hear them. KeeperoftheGates and Beeka-Chu are our only current Resistance members, so I'm sure they'd appreciate any positive thoughts on how to...run a Mini-Guild.

Artemis Xetsa Alright, this is a temporarily private thread. It'll only be me, Trinity and a new member: Beeka-Chu, posting here, please. We're going to start discussion on the Military-Resistance Mini-Guilds tomorrow, and I just want them to have a place to bounce ideas around while I'm gone. (By the way, I've got a half-day at school 12/Oct/2005, so anyone who's online around 1:00 PM, get to your respective MGs.)

Well, personally, if the resistance is going to work, they're gonna have to be able to stir up some trouble (all in good fun, mind you). That means they should be able to post in the military threads reguardless.

The resistance is basically going to consist of people against the military. Ishbalins, miners, revolutionists... things of that sort. Again, I think we'll have only 10 people, so that makes about 40 active members. As soon as we get subforums for Gaia Guilds, maybe we can have towns, I don't know.

Well, since you wanted opinions, I guess I'll give it a go...
Well, as it is a military resistance (in particular, a resistance against the Amestrian military), we'll need to focus on things such as the Eastern Civil Conflict (the war in Ishvar, which was more of a massacre than a war) and other acts of cruelty done by the military. In fact, you don't have to be Ishvaran to hate the military, as there are actually quite a few Amestrians (like Izumi-sensei) that oppose the military. Sure, not everyone in the military is bad, but the bad really does stand out...
Thus, the Resistance should try to be organized. They may not necessarily have military ranks, per se, but probably something similar, where a group leader may recieve a certain title. People of various cultures and backgrounds are going to come together to organize an underground movement, so cooperation is the key. There might sometimes be some issues concerning these differences, but the leader(s) should be able to solve these problems. Also, as most of the members are not a part of any military organization (because they, after all, oppose Amestris' military) then they should recieve training or enter a training program upon entering. They'll probably have limited supplies and weapons, but may be able to find some help from sympathizing locals and the black market.
Hnn... The way I see the organization of the Resistance is probably to have a Council of Members who run the show, and then maybe some trusted and talented combatants who understand the cause to run their own little squads of militia men/women. However, as they are not anything like a military, one might get the feeling that they're a giant family of sorts from the way they interact. They'd respect their elders and leaders, but everyone would probably treat one another like a brother in arms, rather than as a soldier. This makes it easier for them to communicate with one another, I figure, so there probably won't be any titles like 'sir' or 'ma'am' being thrown about. They are, for the most part, civilians and refugees.
They'd probably also want to send some members as spies into the military (preferably ones of Amestrian descent, as a person of Ishvaran descent really stands out amongst the crowd), or these members could forge bonds and manipulate/exploit those bonds with fellow soldiers, like high ranking ones or their subordinates. As for the breakdown of positions...
Well, there could be a council of elders/leaders, but if having one main figure at the top is easier, then so be it. Below them would be 'officers', or group leaders, who are responsible for their own squad of however many soldiers are under their command. These soldiers are not only the infantry of the Resistance, but they also assist in training new recruits, as resources are probably limited. There could also be a group of individuals who are not soldiers, per se, that are responsible for supplies such as food, clothes, weapons, and other similar necessities. Another group could be dedicated to communications with other factions of the Resistance across Amestris, and they may also try to arrange 'safe houses' for their members and their families should the military try to sniff them out. You know, things like that. They can (or probably should) have their own secret code to communicate with eachother with so that the military can't necessarily find them so easily, if at all. What this secret code could be, I have no idea.
Umm... I think that's all my ideas for now...

That is a really awesome idea. 3nodding Well, as they are the most affected group of people currently known, I guess that it'd be a good idea. However, I doubt that all Ishvarans would try to lead a rebellion, as some of them are very fearful of the military, and try to avoid trouble. However, a group of young Ishvaran people could lead the rebellion, which would make sense. 3nodding

Edward M. Elric Yeah and about Terms.....Are we to use the Anime term or Manga Term for the Race of the East?....Or simply put Ishbal or Ishvar? Hnn... I don't know, exactly. It could be either, as it doesn't really matter. I use both interchangably, so it doesn't really bother me.
Gosh, it's like Aeris VS Aerith again... sweatdrop

Well, they have no right to snap at you for something to trivial. Honestly, there are two official spellings, so using them both shouldn't be a problem. They have no reason to take things like that personally. It's just silly. sweatdrop
