I would want it to be, about legends simply because legends were my favorite mainly because of Raistlin.

hmmm ya my major fear is that if they make chronicles first they might never make legends sad and their isnt a ton of stuff you need to know from chronicles when you read legends.

The problem, however, is that the Chronicles are the fundamental basis for the rest of Dragonlance. Nothing would have come about if the Chronicles did not exist, and, to be quite frank, the entire "Dragons" series was the most interesting to me. Granted, the side books had their charm, but The Chronicles, Summer Flame, and The War of Souls are more or less the backbone of the entire franchise. Legends had its place, but was not as "important", and probably wouldn't make as good of a movie as the rest of them would.

Next question would be who would make the movie? Who would do the movie justice and make it as much like the books as the possibly could without leaving a lot of important stuff out. Peter jackson comes to mind for me but thats because of LOTR, anyone else think of someone else? I would absolutely love to see tasslehoff and all other kender on the big screen though, that would be so damn cool

i fear that they would screw up kender and, im scared that they would screw up other aspects of the story. Hollywood likes to change things that dont actually need to be changed and i dont know if i would enjoy a DL movie if they changed any major aspects of the story.

Peter Jackson -did- have a lot of patience making the LotR trilogy, but I'm not sure how he would handle Dragonlance.
I'm not as educated in terms of directors, so I don't know who else to recommend.. sweatdrop

Even if it isnt a high profile director it would have to be a hardcore dragonlance fan, with some experiance directing lol lol

If Dragonlance were to become a movie, I think that while Peter Jackson sounds like a good choice, we have to remember that he was a childhood fan of LOTR. That fueled his passion for the project. For a DL movie, the writer and director would have to have that same dedication going in as a fan. Personally, I'd start with Chronicles (Give it 3 movies...one for each book), include short cut scenes that reference "The Soulforge" to hint at the Flint's fear of boats, Raistlin's appearance, and The Test of High Sorcerey.
It would have to have good effects and a knowlegable director. I'd like to see Weis and Hickman do the screenplay. That would be sweet! I have a few ideas for casting, but don't want to say them just yet.
(I can also see a certain actor in mind for Tanis, but as of this moment I'll keep my mouth shut...hint: He was recently involved in a "trilogy") Oh and my choice for Fizban is currently held by somebody I think could do a great job! I'd go with unknowns for Raist, Caramon, Tas, Tika Riverwind, Goldmoon, and Laurana (I cant think of an actress with the look and talent to pull her off...they all have either one or the other.) Flint and Sturm are tough ones... EDIT: Add Kit to the list of unknowns too...

Flint might be able to be portrayed by the same guy who was Gimli in LotR.. but that's my opinion. xp I haven't seen too many movies, so my character cast is limited. lol

You could totally take the cast of LotR and stick 'em into DL....except I think, with a little make-up help, Vigo would make a pretty damn good Raistling. He's got the right shaped face for it, and he can do a good evil glare. Orlando Bloom can already pull of elves really well, and he'd look good as a Silvanestil...The guy who played Boromir would look good as Tanis, if he slimmed down a bit...Elija Wood in a topknot. If we get him hooked on caffeine, and film it when he's on his coffee-high, it would work. heart

The LOTR cast would never do it. There is this little thing that actor hate called Typecasting. This is an actor's bane in the fact that it's meaning is that an actor is only wanted for certain types of roles.
I say give a new set of characters a chance and see what they can do!

*snicker* Jackie Chan as Tasslehoff! Nah, just kidding. Anyway, I was reading "Dragons of a Winter Night" and thought that Micheal Clark Duncan would make a good Theros.
